    I want to thank and congratulate you on your emphasis on inland lakes. That's the world I live in and there's some great waters and great wind and it's a different environment than a coastal region would be. Your emphasis on this is heartening and I believe there's a whole bunch of us that are going to benefit from it. Your instruction is insightful and doesn't skip over the less obvious things like foot placement, controlling the yaw in the board, getting off the edge and going down wind to gain speed these things are explained well. And, especially once we go out and try them and then watch the videos again they're even more meaningful. Good work..

    Hey Kyle, a big hello from Melbourne, Australia. I've recently started Wing Foiling...very beginning and have spent much time self educating via KZread. Your wing series is outstanding and is giving me all the excitement to get out and try all the things I've learned....it is one of the very best videos I've seen...well done. Keep up the great work.

    Hats off to you and your amazing progression from your first Wing video :) You're jibes are smooth and I can tell that you're having a ton of fun with it and the Winging sport in general. I laughed so hard when I saw your pie chart because my percentages match yours! I haven't touched my twin-tip in over a year and it has dust on it lol.

    Great 3rd installment of wingdinging. The tacks are difficult, but getting better every session. Riding toeside into a tack is much easier for me, probably 75%, whereas the healside to toeside tack is much harder, only about 25%. Stronger winds, 15-20mph+, can help clean up sloppy tacks and jibes for me. I just stepped down to a 5'6 105L wing board and it's also helped improve my turn success percentage. It's been easier stay up on foil longer while doing wing transitions. I also agree with your foot placement ideas. I ride staggered when I know I'm going to get on foil and not staggered, both feet on windward side, when I'm waiting for the next gust. Keep the vid's coming and good luck improving your tacks.

    I do the same stance thing with my back foot offset to the far side of the board till I'm up on foil, then move it back towards the center when I'm up and riding. It's nice to be able to step on the downwind side of the board to flatten it out when a wave comes. Same thing with waiting for a gust. Trying to pump up onto foil without enough wind is just exhausting, might as well just stand and wait for a minute. Your "upwind tug of war effect" thing is called "pinching" in sailing, and you'll hear sailing coaches telling students to "come up in the puffs", which is to turn more upwind when a gust hits. This has the effect of letting the sail flog (or wing flutter, same thing) taking the power out of the sail, but at the same time, giving you extra upwind progress during the gust. I do this on the wing as well - instead of letting your back hand out in a big gust, turn the whole board more upwind.

I'm still in the #StruggleIsReal mode but getting up for long reaches on the foil. My pie chart is different because we have a lot more 10 - 12knt days which are prime kitefoiling for me and I find it much easier to wing at my level in 15knots +

    What a great video again 👌 It's motivating me to try wing in a near future. My only objection is the dimension of the board. I don't like big boards because I'm traveling very often by plane and was happy to minimize my foilboard to 97cm after I had 150cm at the beginning of kitefoiling. Hope some day to wing on a small board around 100 cm. :)

    @@TheOKKiteboarder Yes, you are right. But the inflatable boards are still too heavy and for a bigger board I need second mast because my current one has to much flex in it. I'm still looking for the golden mean :) I would love to have one set for kitefoil and wingfoil and the only way is to learn waterstart on very small board.

    Great content! But I have the complete opposite conclusion on foot position after 1 year of wing foiling. When its windy and to get up on to foil, I need the suggested off-set foot position. But: 1) To get up on foil in light wind, when pumping the board and putting pressure on the front foot in suggested stance you will not keep the board flat unless its a big board (keeping more of a center line front foot enables 100% pressure on the front foot while keeping a flat board). Same issue if you are on foil and want to pump the board (like a prone foiler) 2) When flagging the hand wing or gybing, I progressed A LOT when putting the front foot closer to the center line. More like a foil surfer stance, they can't do it all wrong can they? 😳 With an off-set foot position there is nothing to put pressure on the front toe side of the board?!

  • @TheOKKiteboarder

    @TheOKKiteboarder

    Thx Linus for the input. I don’t think it’s for everyone and it definitely requires the back foot to increase leeward board pressure at times. You’re right, my experience will only be on boards over 75L. Thx again!

  • @TheOKKiteboarder

    @TheOKKiteboarder

    Unfortunately there’s not an easy solution to forearm fatigue apart from building up endurance over time without developing any kind of “itis”. I’m working on a video for a harness that my buddy created that doesn’t require unhooking with jibes. You would be able to assemble easily on your own.

    I’ve only land tried it. I thought I would love the feel of it, but I’m not sure. I wasn’t fond of all the weight at the center area. It seems it will tack very easily but I won’t know for sure until I get on the water with it. I’m also not sure why the diameter has to be so large on the boom? Handles aren’t…wing sticks aren’t. Idk

  • @TheOKKiteboarder

    @TheOKKiteboarder

    3 жыл бұрын

    Well..I think they are two of the best wings on the market currently. The positives/negatives to the Unit are: they took a handle off their 4m wing and it's a tough reach for me. It's more difficult to dump power. It's negligibly heavier than the Fone, it holds it's shape well on transitions (like tacks), it's very rigid (good and bad), it doesn't have wingtip protection (kevlar), the windows are not very functional for me and I don't prefer the lengthwise bag due to window storage. The Fone is light, not very rigid, which hurts in performing tacks, spins, etc. The handles are great for my smaller stature. The second gen has protection on wingtips. Even though it's not very rigid, it creates a lot of power in low wind, static water starts. Hope some of this helps.

    Quick one , Troy. most of your riding, you appear to have both hands in overhand grip. But I notice that going into the hand switch for the Jibe that in many of the cases, you have flipped front hand to underhand. Am I reading too much into this, or have you found that to ease the hand switch?

  • @TheOKKiteboarder

    @TheOKKiteboarder

    No rhyme or reason. For me, sometimes I find the underhand grip more comfortable on one side and it also targets different muscles, so you can avoid some fatigue in switching it up some.
