    Great poker . Daniel tells us so much about playing poker , ranges etc and yet he still mixes up his game so well . Nuances that even perplex the top pros .

    Excellent work Daniel !! My preflop strategy headsup. You must check back strong hands as well as your garbage hands to protect your checking range . If you dont your check back range will contain all garbage and your opponents will exploit that over and over. Also you must raise your garbage hands and strong hands while checking and calling medium strength hands when in headsup situtation, to protect your raise first in range as well as limp and check range .If you limp all your garbage and raise all your strong hands you will get exploited by a better opponent who plays a more balanced strategy .

    DNegs - Thanks for the thought process on this hand. I like the progression and how you decided to get your value on the river vs. the turn. I've introduced my son to your vids, I think it is good for him to see the logical thinking that can apply to many situations.

    On the river was daniels raise maybe slightly too high to call with 4's? Also would it have been more optimal for smiljkovic to raise after flop? Loving these key hand analyses, espically the shorts.

    Smiley should have not looked at his cards after the river. That tell shows he didn’t have a pair of hearts. He could have represented a flush as an option. Plus, he did catch a piece of the flop. He shouldn’t have given a free card for the turn for DN to catch a queen. Brunson always said never give a free card as the aggressor. Although, I don’t know how many hands Smiley played similar to this to pick up what he is doing.

    Isn't there still the same risk of the check raise on the river though? And you'd be even more likely to fold as the flush came in...

    That's a good question, and I had it myself. I thought about it a bit, and realized that maybe Daniel didn't talk about the check raise on the river because it's hard to find a range of hands that do that, especially considering Daniel played the first two streets by checking back. Any flushes are most likely going to be betting the river, content with perhaps getting some small value as opposed to trying for more and getting nothing. So maybe villain doesn't really have a check raise range here?

    What would the bluffs here be? I really can just find 10 8, J 8, J J or 10s and I don't see how that is enough to justify calling the raise off with a hand like 4 2

    In HU we have decently many random bluffs like AhX or similar stuff Also just bottom of our range hands like 76ss or so

  • @CoolCentrists

    @CoolCentrists

    3 ай бұрын

    in HU especially with a big blind ante you must play all hands pre flop. This means you have a lot of garbage which means the value of hands goes up compared to rings games. Often a pair or even King or Ace high are good bluff catchers because there are a lot of bluffs. For example in HU super high roller bowl final that Daniel won vs Nick Petrangelo, Daniel called with queen high when Nick went for a big bet on river

    Come on people... SMLIJKOVIC played like armature. Why calling on a river? with pair of 4s.... What you aspect that Daniel played 8 2 with that type of bets? Still not worth even if he did bluff 5 min. 53 sec.
