No, it shouldn't take any time to break in. There might be a weird smell from a new element the first time or two it's used, but it should come on. There may be a problem with the new element, or maybe something happened during installation. Give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/ and we'll help you figure it out.

Many of these parts can be tested with a multimeter before you go through the trouble of replacing them. Could this be the issue if the dryer won't cool down? Meaning it always blows out hot air regardless of the temp setting and even comes out hot on the "no heat" setting. Our dryer has been doing this for a while and at the end of a cycle the clothes are burning hot as well as the whole unit outside- feels hot. The timer works fine. We have a 3 yr old electric Whirlpool dryer. I think I read somewhere that sometimes the heating element can be shorted to ground? Whatever that means, lol. Your help is much appreciated!
@appliancepartspros
8 жыл бұрын
+Diana Fisher It could be the element or maybe a thermostat. You can take the wires off the element and test it for continuity. If it is shorted to ground or failed you will not have continuity. If it is shorted to ground you may see the element is broken and is touching the element casing. Without knowing what you have, I would suggest posting the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem. forum.appliancepartspros.com/

DO NOT RECONNECT YOUR 220V POWER CORD TO THE BACK OF THE DRYER THIS WAY!!!! IT IS A FIRE HAZARD!!!! ALWAYS USE THE RELIEF CLAMP TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NOT METAL RUBBING THE POWER CORD. OVER TIME DRYER WILL SHAKE AND RUB THROUGH THE WIRE CASING AND CAUSE A SHORT. The hole right under that panel is where the power cord is supposed to feed through.

Thank you! Saved me so much money!
Thank you so much this video. One the coils snapped in ours, and I just installed the new heating element. I have a question though. Is it disposed of differently? Or is recyclable?
Excellent, excellent video.
Thank you for a great video! Now I can do this!!! Thank you! 😊
Where can I find more of the ceramic spacers between the coils. Bought a new elements and 4 of the spacers broke in less than 3 months.

My Whirlpool model leq9508lwo only had two red wires the orange wire on the left was not present when I checked the element. Is this a problem or is this the way it is for this model?
I have a whirlpool cabrio dryer. Is part# 279838 a standard part #? I looked on Amazon. Keyed model # in and they showed three different part #'s. Really don't want to make the mistake of ordering the wrong part. Video is helpful and will refer to it when I change it out.

I don’t have a separate housing. Any suggestions?
My thermostat came with the elbow type adapter but it’s not affixed to the thermostat itself. So it’s not one part ...any ideas on what’s upitat?
Good video. But I would think you should test the dryer before you put the back panel on.
My thermostat is part no 3390291. It doesnt have that tab and the wire is not orange. There is one red one and the other is red with a white stripe. I got the replacement and it says that you need a jumper. Can you help me
I have an older Whirlpool dryer. I noticed that the heating element housing is tack welded shut with no screws. How can this be removed?

Does the new heating element require time to break in and start heating correctly? Ran my dryer for near 10 minutes and no heat. Installed the old cracked element and there was heat.

If the only thing that didn't show continuity was the terminal on the bottom (bottom right red wire) attached to a white piece, what would I replace? How would I know if it is the heating element? I've seen other videos that only replaced the high limit thermostat.

I have replaced heating element, dryer is still not heating. Should I replace the thermostat? What else could be the problem?
This is a great demonstration however I’ve completed the steps and still no heat. Any other ideas? Also, the wires that connect to my thermostat slide off easily.

A few other nonfunctional parts could cause no heat, such as the thermal fuse, thermal cut off kit, cycling thermostat, hi-limit thermostat. Many of these parts can be tested with a multimeter before you go through the trouble of replacing them. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. We offer free technical advice and diagnosis help, so we'll talk you through the parts you need to test.
Thanks
Is it normal for it to smoke after changing the element?
using the same thermostat again wont cause the same problems?
Is this for kitchen aid dryer
Hmm, I can already tell that this video will be super helpful but the bottom piece in mine only has 1 wire going into it. Arg!

coil itself shorts out, the dryer creates no heat whatsoever coil shorts out and touches the metal, it could cause half the element to glow causes half heat What if it's running hot on the fluff setting? Same fix?
What if you do this and it still doesn’t heat?

Could this be the issue if the dryer won't cool down? Meaning it always blows out hot air regardless of the temp setting and even comes out hot on the "no heat" setting. Our dryer has been doing this for a while and at the end of a cycle the clothes are burning hot as well as the whole unit outside- feels hot. The timer works fine. We have a 3 yr old electric Whirlpool dryer. I think I read somewhere that sometimes the heating element can be shorted to ground? Whatever that means, lol. Your help is much appreciated!
@appliancepartspros
This is so helpful. Why are you wearing gloves to replace it? Is that necessary?
@franktrevino2313
5 жыл бұрын
I would recommend work gloves because those metal edges can be pretty sharp.

Why do you have to take the old thermostat and put it on the new one, shouldn't the new heating element come with a thermostat

Good video, I only watched the first half. One suggestion: always prefer power tools over hand tools. If it is possible to use a power tool, use it. In this case a power screwdriver could have been used, much better and faster than the hand tool. I have found that even small increases of efficiency make a big difference in getting jobs done.
i changed it now it don't even start-_-
