    Thank you for doing this and other appliance videos. I have little to no appliance repair skills. The instruction sheet that came with the 279816 Thermal Cutoff Kit was hard for me to understand. This saved me a lot of money because I did it myself with Appliance Parts Pros help.

    Hi Matt, Just wanted to thank you for the instructions. They were spot on and I replaced these and the heating element which I found how to do on another of your videos. Probably took me maybe 30 minutes start to finish and my dryer is heating again! I really appreciate your videos. Thank you, I love taking care of these things myself and I couldn't have done it without your help. Many blessings to you! Tamra

    Thanks for providing the visual. I only needed to cut one wire, the orange one. I put the gold connector on it. The jump wire fits the gold connector w/o any cutting.

    I've done it that way before too. My guess is they prefer to have the "big" voltage (240V going to the other side of the heater) carried by the direct connection of the spade instead of having to go through the off-shoot spade to the side. Still seems like that offshoot has plenty of cross-sectional area to be sufficient.

    You can test them for continuity with a meter. If they do not have continuity they are bad and need to be replaced.

    Hi, what's the reason they've updated the hi limit stat from the old style? Does the new one have better function? I ordered the hi limit stat/thermal cut off kit and I also have the same IRWIN wire cutter/stripper/crimper. Do you know what settings to use on the tool so I don't risk overcrimping or cut into the wires? Thanks!

    Thanks for the instructions. Question: as I️ was replacing my high limit thermostat, I️ noticed that my old thermostat does not have the small orange wire. Only the two large red wire connections. What is the small orange wire for and how do I️ go about replacing the thermostat without I‎t? Hopefully that made sense! Cheers.

    I don't have the orange wire, only the 2 red ones. Do I just run the jumper from the bottom terminal on the thermostat to the element terminal? In the meantime, I installed the cutoff with the original thermostat and it's working fine.

    the wire is burnt off at the thermal cut off on my dryer will this kit fix that ?

  • @appliancepartspros

    @appliancepartspros

    8 жыл бұрын

    +dennis waterhouse The wire included in this kit is not for the thermal cut off, it is a jumper wire used on the thermostat. If you burnt a terminal you would have to replace it and any wire that was damaged.

    My thermostat doesn't have an orange wire also. Our dryer has been running for over 10 yrs without it. Can I assume it isn't needed? Please answer yes or no and not the generic message about calling you guys. Just need that question answered.

  • @appliancepartspros

    That would depend on what model you have, and how much it has in common with this one. Even if it uses this same thermal cut off kit, it may not be exactly the same as this dryer model. A single part can be compatible with hundreds of different appliances. This part is actually compatible with almost 5000 different dryer models. We film the part on a single appliance model to serve as an example of the repair, but there may be slight variations in the process for different models. To answer specific questions about specific models, we would need to know your model number so that we can consult a diagram of your unit. That's why we recommend that people call in and talk to one of our agents. They can take the model number, look up the schematics, and talk you through any issues or questions you may be having.

    +Delrico Alexander Make sure all the ducting inside and outside the dryer is clean, also check for worn or damaged seals. Also make sure the blower is not damaged and that it is securely attached to the motor shaft.
