Very easy repair and easy to follow video. However, it would be nice to see him test the thermostat for continuity -- a test to see if it no longer carries current, that is.

Thank you for the tip. We do have a section that does show you how to troubleshoot the dryer and shows how to test parts to see if they have failed.

Great video, super helpful! I was sure it was the fuse due to a vent blockage. However The most common fault on these is the door switch. The fuse is second most common. Make sure to check your door switch throughly before taking your whole unit apart to access fuse as the switch is easier to access. I had to take switch off to manipulate fully and realized it was in fact the issue after checking fuse that was still intact. This is the machines 3rd door switch.

Please help! We don't have any connecting wires to our thermal fuse. I want to put some in and install correctly, but I don't know what should connect to what. To what, exactly, are these wires connecting to? Is there someplace where I can see a full layout of the wire connections in a dryer?

How can i check that the thermal fuse is blown? If the fuse is not blown there might be other problem.

The thermal fuse can be tested for continuity. If it has continuity, it is good and the problem is elsewhere.

Would a bad thermal fuse cause an electric dryer to run for the majority of the cycle, then shut off, and continue to turn itself on and off until the cycle is finished?

No, the thermal fuse is a safety device that prevents the heat from working, if it goes over its rated temperature. Without knowing what you have, I would suggest posting the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem. forum.appliancepartspros.com/

Question Matt : What is the amps of a thermo fuse #3392519 for a whirlpool dryer ? my new fuse only worked for 3 loads and blew again. My lint tube and lint screen are both clean. Could it have just been a defected fuse or is there something else blowing out the fuse that I can check ? I used a car fuse so that my wife could finish the last load and I removed it when she was done. What's the difference in using a thermo fuse and a car fuse besides the price ?

Frank Llamas Thermal fuses work on temperature not amps. If it went after 3 loads I would check all the ducting, from the lint screen all the way outside. If the blower duct where the fuse is located gets too hot it is usually some sort of air flow restriction. It is a safety device so if you have an amp type fuse in there you should swap it out with a new thermal one before running the dryer

How can we tell if this our problem? The dryer runs but it wont heat. I’ve also heard that it could be the coils

Do a continuity test across the fuse, if you have continuity the fuse is functioning, if the circuit it open, it is blown and will need to be replaced.
