Woa, very good video! Thanks for putting that out. Just got a new one and I'm overwhelmed by the amount of diff settings it has. I recorded some 4k30fps shots our in the nature and used the legacy GoPro Quik Desktop software for Win10 but the resulting quality of the video after uploading to KZread wasn't nearly as nice as it looks when watching in the Quik app. I think it has to do with the fact that I recorded them in H264 and 58MB/s of bit-rate. I'm going to try a high bit-rate with HEVC next, as you suggested. Thank you very much for the tips!
Watched a ton of these cinematic Gopro tutes and yours is by far the best! Thank you for doing this. I love your grading too, subtle and not overdone!

@@pascalbasel I particularly enjoy how you use the GoPro as a mini mirrorless camera with ultrawide lens and how you're showing us how to use it so that we can keep our travel video equipment super minimal and light by shooting without gimbals, creative transition tricks on site and in post. It's how I am planning to use mine on my nature adventures as I am trying to lighten my carry. I haven't seen anyone talking about cinematic shooting with the GoPro quite this way and it's super valuable!!

GoPro is the camera with the best built in mic audio recording that I know in market, not only in action cameras but in professional ones. Audiovisual is not only the what you see, audio is equally and in some cases, more important than the visual. Besides that they really offers a lot of options with plug-in microphones or media mods that can improve a lot the quality. Another option is that you can record the audio with outside recording devices if it needed too, and then sinc it in post.

Thanks for sharing your incredibly amazing tips for a good footage. Can I ask please , since I'm a first time GoPro user), if you happen to know how to view 5K videos on laptop (unable to view due to high resolution HEVC format i understand), but 4K seems to run. I understand a software is needed to read the different codec. Any recommendations? Adobe PP or other? Generally speaking, do you recommended to shoot in 4K to avoid too much editing in post? Or to film in 5K and compress to 4K in post? Thanks very much dear and all the best with your future projects. Stephane

None 😉 You use a GoPro to keep it simple and the audio of the Hero 9 and 10 at least is usually good enough as long as there is no wind.

Hello Pascal, Does KZread recommend shooting in HEVC if the purpose is to upload the video to KZread? I believe KZread has some requirements to upload videos. Thanks for your reply
@pascalbasel
3 жыл бұрын
It only matters what you export your video. The recording codec doesn't matter. But KZread already accepts HEVC so even a direct upload would work and give better quality as H264.
I have lots of noise on my videos even on daylight any tips on that ? I'm really disappointed of the camera

Use flat color profile. The noise disappears after adding contrast and lowering the midtowns in color grade. KZread compression also eliminates a bit of the noise.

Vai se aproximando, recortando mais e mais, o que dá a sensação de que a câmera está se movimentando/dando zoom? É isso que está buscando saber? Não sou especialista.

Please tell me please if there is a reason why you are not using nd filters? Thanks
@pascalbasel
3 жыл бұрын
1. I'm using automatic exposure on the GoPro and don't want to ramp up the iso 2. I use the GoPro to get shots quickly and ND filters take time to chose the right one 3. 99% of the people watching my videos only recognize the high shutter speeds when I talk about it 4. I do a lot of slow motion, where you don't notice it that much anyway But that's just for my videos. I just talked with a friend of mine about nd filters and he loves them for his videos as he does a lot of biking and the motion blur makes it look a lot better. So it depends a bit on your style of shooting. There is no right or wrong.

I optimize for quality. Personally if I watch a video where I expect beautiful b-roll, 1080p makes me stop watching instantly. It’s true that now many people are like that but better to optimize for everyone. Especially if you can use optical flow to get 240p results with 120p footage but higher resolution.
