Overall, I think two fans are good enough for what we aim for. That extra fan isn't that necessary to put on unless you want that extra temperature reduction badly.
And if you want to add the third fan, you will need a Y splitter and 4 screws.

I just did this as well, everything is working as it should, but I keep getting an error when booting up that the top fan isn’t functioning, but it is, and is even responsive to my custom curves. I’ve checked all plugs, checked and made sure that nothing is hitting the blades as they’re spinning, but I keep getting the error whenever I boot up the system. Thoughts?

I think you can add another fan in the front of the case for additional intake and possibly a fan to the back for exhaust, and have the top fan bringing fresh air in from the top of the case through the WC. If you wanted, I guess you could even have the WC fans in a push/pull configuration. That Alienware case seems starved for air.

I saw a guy who actually mounted a second intake fan up top of the front where the mechanical HDD would be mounted. So he left the stock one in the top of the case because it is a pain in the ass to remove, and then just upgraded the stock fan in the bottom front and added an extra fan. Huge difference in cooling. I do not understand why they would put the fan down low where the GPU is as the GPU has its own cooling system.... People shitting on these computers while I guess it is warranted to an extant, for some people it is the only way of getting a nice PC and for a few bucks you really can remove all heating issues which is a huge knock on the PC.

I suggest using Kryonaut paste, you will see a few more degrees drop off the average temps during heavy load tasks. Also, you mentioned the Dell fan is cheap, its actually a good fan that can move A LOT of air, but at the cost of lots of noise. This way Dells solution to overheating issues. The corsair fans can move even more air at lower rpm, giving you a lot more cooling. The push and pull configuration is a very good upgrade because of how short the loop is in that AIO. It ensures more radiator vanes are being cooled.

I have just purchased the R10 and completed this mod with your videos help, I really like your videos and helped me a lot. I have actually done this mod twice. The first time with the fans you used and the 2nd time with Noctua fans. I also took the HDD out and moved it to one of the smaller bays below and added and 80mm fan in its original location since my system seemed to be generating lot of heat. I was wondering if anyone needs these fans since I'm not using them I am looking to get rid of the corsair and keep the Noctuas in place also I have a 64GB kit of RAM that I'm trying to part with. I purchased the kit for Intel accidentally and so had to get a different AMD kit. Ram is overclockable.

Hey, I have a question. I have a air cooled Alienware R10, so it’s kind of noisy sometimes. If I change the top fan and the front fan with the ML120 Pro nonLED, will I get better temps and will it be more quiet and run cooler? I’m trying to save money if I can.
