Do This Immediately-Alienware Aurora R11 Second Intake Fan Install

Any R10, R11, or R12 owner should do this right after unboxing their gorgeous Aurora. This was simple to install, cheap, and dropped my CPU temps 7c at idle and 3-5c under load, not to mention the cooling to the RAM enabiling further overclocking. This in combination with thermal pads and paste on your GPU, a water cooled CPU and a push-pull style exhaust fan, you will have no issues keeping your Alienware cool even overclocked, streaming, video editing, or cryptomining.

Just got my R12 with 3080 yesterday and completed all cooling mods, using 4 Noctua NF-A12x25s, 2 in the front and two on the top in push/pull configuration. I actually pulled the other side/front of case so I was able to use the rubber mounting accessories for the 2nd front fan. I also put Noctua thermal paste around the GPU heatsink. Running NiceHash 97MH/s and average GPU Junction temps of 78c. CPU temps around 50c while mining. Great videos and info to get my system set up. Thanks!

Also you mentioned about replacing the AIO fan. You do not need to take the top panel off. There is a cage that will slide out with two screws. One is near the left most ram slot at the top of the case, and the other is on the far left of the bracket. You'll have to un-do the CPU power cable and remove them from their cable mgmt grommets (there are two, one plastic and one metal) for clearance. Good luck.

9:00 The down arrow indicates the direction in which the fan blades rotate. Lose the cage and attach the fan directly to the chassis.. but use 2x40mm or 1x80mm fan(s). The 120mm fits, but the case blocks the leading edge of the fan, which is the part that produces the most velocity. Use non-flammable tape or make a custom plate to block the rest of the holes. The empty holes reduce the amount of thrust that your pull fans can create. Cheers!

first time viewer here and i feel it'd be a disservice to both Gamer Heaven and anyone watching for the first time, like myself, if i were to click off this video before expressing my gratitude. not only was the video very helpful and informative, it is also made in such a relaxed and straight forward manner. no unnecessary over-editing, no filler bullshit just to extend the runtime, and leading the video is a seemingly knowledgeable and charismatic host that is both articulate and precise with his explanations while also keeping them in lamen's terms as much as possible to accommodate less tech savvy viewers. i specifically applaud these attributes because they are seemingly lacking in a lot of other similar style videos ive seen. but at the risk of glazing this guy even more than i already have, i'll just sum up this whole spiel in a couple words: good video.

definitely gonna do the fan upgrade. You do know though that if you didn't have your NVidia drivers set to max performance that it would cool things down too. I noticed that your card was on full blast. You gotta let it throttle down, guy. Plus, your bench cannot be accurate because you have the side panel off. Put the panel on then test.

How did you get the errors to stop throwing when booting up? I changed out both my front and top fans with Noctua NF-F12 PWM, which are working and accurately following my custom fan curves, but it runs a “SupportAssist Pre-Boot System Performance Check” that always has a critical error saying that the top and front fan aren’t responding correctly. I get this error unless the OEM fans are connected, Dell confirmed this and said that there no way to get around the errors other than switching back to the OEM fans. Thoughts?

In this case, yeah because it is paired with a PWM fan on a splitter. But it's not true that a 3 pins fan will always run at 100% into a 4 pins connector. The 3 pins fan can be controlled by voltage and you can do that on any 4 pins connector on MOST motherboard. Not sure for the aurora because of AWCC.

I tried uninstalling and re installing the software, did nothing, and eventually fusion wouldn’t even load. Had to do a factory reset. And just moved the stock fan to the top and used one ml120 on the bottom because my gpu temps are fine but the cpu gets pretty high. You got those temps when your case was open. It’s possible that you got those lower temps with more airflow out of the case. Close the side panel and test again? Great video. Keep the content going!

That is true, and I think it does make a pretty good difference with the side off. The temps are still lower, but having the side off probably aided with that. Will do man.

This is a poorly designed PC case, the small side vent shares the air intake with exhaust from the GPU, you can feel that the bottom it's cooler than the top of that vent, and to make it worst it's circular, this vent should have been rectangular and covering all the PCI chamber and also no restricting the intake, you can see how dumb it is, when you can compare the external plastic vent which it's round and the internal part of the panel it's rectangular but it's not even covering the circular part. I made a chamber for the GPU to separate and keep the front cool air away from the side exhausted hot air, this just improves my VRam temperature in 4C, at least allows me to keep the RTX 3090 running without throttling, also I added the top fan but nothing really improved still I plan to keep it in case the RAM needs some cooling. I created a profile where the front fan it's spinning faster at lower CPU temps so more air can be taken by the GPU.

So I bought the everything you linked below. I have installed all 4 fans. The fan on bottom and the extra on where ur hard drive went. No problem. I also replaced radiator fan and installed the upper for push pull airflow. However. The top of my r11 will not go on with the upper fan installed. I don’t think these fans will work for the top fan. If I’m wrong please help. I’m currently defeated by this upgrade

Thank you for another R11 vid that I have enjoyed. Why did you get a mechanical HD at all? When buying new, building, and/or prebuilt, why not just select a M.2 or SSD? Got my R12 on order, but only went with a 256GB M.2 (really boot only) and will get a SSD aftermarket. Also, fan add... why nearly permanent tape instead of command tape or rubber cement that would be much easier to remove, but still hold a light fan quite well and dampen sound?

Do you think it'd be worth it to upgrade to a different motherboard and buy a case of power supply and swapping everything over I have an Alienware r10 ryzen 9 5900x rx6800xt 16g ram killer wifi. You really get the 4.0 speeds by using the pcie slot and can you boot from the adapeter? I guess the only other thing I'm not getting because of the boards is smart access memory.

I used the same spliter in this video and the fan is a CORSAIR AF ELITE Series, AF120 ELITE, 120mm. Anyone have any ideas why its not matching the speed of the primary front fan? Thanks all!

Without any glue or something else, and i wish u show us how to install it and put it in and which cable gets to be used for and how u do the cable management and everything.. my aurora r10 coming in 2 weeks and i even bought a second nvme wirh heatsink, 4fans from corsair, new heatpaste and everything else so i want to pimp up that little badass to the maximum of airflow but i just never worked on pcs at all so im really excited and scary of not to break anything in there. So i need a step by step video with all that stuff u are doing.. thx bro u are great and your Videos are fantastic much thx!

I'm sorry man. The fan just slides into the empty slot where the hard drive used to be, I literally pushed it in with the sticky roll that's in the description. The fan splitter is plugged into the "front fan" slot on the motherboard, where the stock fan is plugged in. The cables, I showed the little bit of what I was able to do with running it around the outside. Dude that's awesome, your R10 is going to be nice AF. I will do all my future tutorials with more detail. Thank you Erto, I appreciate that man!
