Mine has been in production for close to a month, I am getting pretty disappointed. It has been delayed twice now while in production. It has gone from the 6th to the 15th to the 20th. I'm not hopeful about the 20th estimated ship date because it has already been changed and delayed twice now. They did claim that they had all of the parts, but I've recieved several conflicting reports. I am a patient person, but it really irritates me when I am given several estimated ship dates. If they can't ship it by a certain date then they need to let people know beforehand.

Originally supposed to be delivered by the 10th, it was delayed till the 20th. The order went into "Production" on the 14th and went to "Shipped" on the 17th. I made a few chat attempts with their service department to get things rolling faster but it did not really help. I got the Lunar White i9, RTX 3080, 16GB RAM, Cryotech Cooling.

@@leogarcia4438 mine is exactly the same, but it is black. I am hoping that they finally ship it on Monday. I am getting pretty annoyed by all of this. I am patient, but I don't like being given dates that they have no intention of honoring. Why not just estimate that they will ship it sometime between December and July? That would be better than giving me 15 different expected ship dates. I've contacted them every single day for a over a week straight and will continue to do so until it arrives. My order date was October 31st. When I ordered my R10 it was only in production for like two days. Hopefully I'll get my PC before January 20th so I'll have it for my next semester of school. If not I'll just have to continue using this mighty 20 year old Dell Intel Celeron PC. I am shocked that the thing still works.

I will say that I'm quite impressed by the performance on the stock Dell fans. Dell did an absolutely excellent job on this PC with the changes implemented vs their prior PC. Honestly, the only drastic change was the noise level of the Noctua fans vs the Dell fans. Great video!!!

Dell's fan is very good at performance it put out a lot of air, but to get that performance, it's loud. if you always have your PC under heavy load, then stay with the OEM fans.

Mine arrived today! The Corsair ML120 Pros were out of stock so I got the Noctua Chromax Black ones. Swapped them in before even turning it on. Also got the 10tb spinning rust drive I bought installed and it's really amazing how quiet it is after the swap. Thanks for the video it was super helpful

Did you have any issues with the Noctua Chromax for the top? I see they changed the power connector to only a little like 1/4” nub connector, my worry is that would get in the way when replacing the top fan. If no issues then I’m going to buy those, but wanted to see if you had any issues with them for the top fan replacement. Any info would be super!

I replaced the case fans with the black Noctua ones, I just with you could replace the radiator fan with an RGB because the effect is cool but it is a cheap fan. It cools well enough, but it is a loud fan for ok performance.

That RGB one it's hard to replace for AWCC to change the RGB.

Great vid and very interesting! I'm just left wondering why on earth can't Dell fix this themselves at the factory before shipping, this is not a cheap pre-build - Dell should be tripping over themselves for the hefty price they are charging to iron out such obvious and simple-to-solve niggles.....not leaving it to the customer! Actually, their fans are good at performance more RPM and CBM, since it spins more there is more noise.

The fans they use are server fans, actually each fan is capable of 4K RPM and 135 CFM thats 3800 litres of air per minute. So they actually perform better than the Noctua ones, but at the cost of sound. I am swapping them too on my R13 ordered 3x Noctua Noctua NF-A12 × 25 PWM chromax. black and for the RGB Fractal Design Prisma AL-12 ARGB PWM. The Airflow on those is enough for the system.

It depends on people needs, I'm pretty picky on noise level, so I made the upgrade. haha.

I believe the stock fans are 3000 RPM, the Noctua replacements I believe are 2000 RPM. The difference in RPM would definitely be quieter. Not sure how much less airflow you'd get though. Noctua has high pressure versions of the same fans at 3000 RPM. So you're AWCC configurations would be similar not sure if there would be a db noise difference though.

The OEM parts are ok for the temps, it just too much RPM and cause more noise.

Im actually planning to replace my aurora r13 fans to 3 noctua fans the same one that your using here,, problem is my pc is still on the way haha. Will keep an eye on your upgrades

Nice video, you need to add this to the water cooler for push/pull on the CPU, connect the fan into the spare cpu connector. PHANTEKS PH-F120T30 120MM FAN. That’s the real deal!!

Agreed, but my 12900 loves it😂💪 Huge temps drops. But being serious, they are actually as quiet as Noctua fans at the same RPM, I might even try and fit them all around as they ramp to 3000rpm

The phanteks fan is 30mm thick, will it fit on the AIO and around the case also? Did you notice much improvement in CPU temps and did you keep the stock RGB fan as the push fan? Thanks!!

I would have loved to see you replace the cooling system for a bigger radiator mounted on the front. I bet that would really help keep the intel chip cooler. That radiator for the water cooled chip seems to small.

I used the Noctua fans you recommended but kept getting a Lower Front Fan error on boot. I swapped fans to see if it was just one bad fan, but all three had the same error in the same location. There seems to be something about this particular fan model that the Aurora BIOS does not like, and only in the one location. I put the Dell fan back only in the Lower Front location and have not had the error repeat.

I have the same issue with the Noctua NF-A12x25 Black, get a "Front Lower Fan Detect Failure". If anyone else finds a workaround for this appreciated. Fan is running but detect error on boot. For now, if I restart it goes away - only on shutdown.

Hello Ryan, Nice video. I have a quick question. I replaced my fans but when I ran a diagnostics test both front fans have failed the test. Have you tried the diagnostics test by pressing F12 when rebooting your pc?

Im finding the first demonstration of the arrows pointing correct way confusing as you show them then turn the fan around. Is it the arrow on the fan pointing right, that needs to be same way? sorry for all the questions. Ohhh I get it now. So the two arrows on the fan are both the same ways round. Its because theres a left and down ponting arrow but they will be both the same way when you put ir in the case, correct? ok thank you for your time and help

Nice video. I found it tough to decide between quiet or cool. I found noctua doesn’t do well at high loads since it doesn’t have the high rpms to tackle the huge heat the pc produces. But under small loads noctua was nice. I wish you didn’t have to choose between cool and quiet.

It depends on the situation too, if on heavy load, and let it run for a longer time, the OEM has better temps.

I replaced the fans with the Corsair ML 120 Pro with RGBs and got the startup fan error which is fine. The annoying part is even with the new fans, the R13 still runs too loud. Thinking of switching out the 3080 Ti for a hybrid version with the radiator attached to the front bezel. You think it'll work?

Thanks for the great video. I upgraded my fans to the Corsair ML120s with your help. They are functioning, but Command Center doesn't seem to have any effect on their speed anymore, meaning I can't change their speed. If I set one of the higher running profiles, the only fan that changes is the stock CPU fan which wasn't upgraded. Any ideas or tips? Thanks!

@@RyanYu I reset the CMOS and can change the speed now. But having one other small issue. I added one of the stock fans to the top of the case for exhaust, and command center isn't recognizing the new/extra fan. It's on and spinning, but CC only shows a total of 4 fans still, not 5

Yo!!! Thanks for the tips. Great looking machine. Just got my X17 R1 3070 165Hz. Was trying to test it side by side with my MSI GE76 Raider 3060 144Hz and wasn’t seeing a ton of difference between a little brighter/crisper screen. Was getting about the same thermals and fps. Not sure if I can justify the $847 price difference. :-( X17 is so pretty though. What would you do if you had the choice? 😂

Hi, just noticed that in the ACC the speeds for the 3 installed fans always remains around 45%, never changes even if I put it at 100% in a new profile and then activate the profile properly in the main page of the ACC. Do you know what could be causing this? Thanks!

This is because the upgraded fans have less RPM than the original. The original has 8000RPM and the aftermarket ones have 4000 or so.

Thank you for the useful information. I enjoyed all your Alienware videos. I have got an R13 as well and I am thinking of putting in RGB fans. On the motherboard I can see 7 pin headers for the RGB just above the 4 pin PWM. My Cryo-Tech RGB fan has got a 7 pin and a 4 pin connector but I can't find any other RGB fans with a 7 pin connector. I can't even find a 7 pin to 3 pin RGB adapter. Do you have any idea how can I install RGB fans and connect it to the motherboard RGB header? I prefer not to use a controller box. I guess one solution is to buy the same fan that came with the Cryo-Tech cooler but again I have no idea where to find that.

Can you say that magic word, proprietary? Alienware decides what you can and can't do to THEIR PCs. RGB fans might one day be included in their options list $$$.

Does the Corsair ML120 Pro LED work? I saw the link to the one that doesnt have LEDS. Wondering if this would cause bios issues? My R11has lots of BIOS issues from my current fans which is annoying because i bought the wrong model of the same product. Thanks if you have time to reply

You can switch that one too, but you will not have the RGB anymore.

I just did the exact same thing. It's awesome but I'm also considering replacing the fan on the cooler with a noctua as well. I don't really care for the rgb since I mostly have that all turned off. Have you tried?

Hey I have done the same fan swap to mine are you able to set the fan speed to 100% in Awcc ? I can only set to 45% for the noctua fans I assume it’s because the awcc is set up for the stock fans with 100% = 4000rpm and the noctua fans only do 2000rmp max so I’m guessing that’s why it can only go to 45% in awcc that’s what I’m thinking anyway do you see the same in yours

The R12 had a bracket in the way so most full size cards wouldn't fit. I have the R13 and there is way more room as the bracket doesn't sit as close. You should be able to slot any standard card in there. Not sure about the larger boutique cards though.

great video! i have the exact same noctua fans & for whatever reason whenever i swap out the OEM lower fan with a noctua, it gives me an error at post. doesnt matter which noctua fan i use either.. it just instantly gives me an error. no clue why but the 2 upper fans work fine!

@@RyanYu yeah dude i did that for shits & giggles same thing. from what i read on dells forums its because the speed of the fan isnt fast enough for that port & a new bios update will cause an error to show up if it detects that. gonna get the 3000rpm noctua & see if it fixes it.

@@jeffreyye1935 since they are all the same fans, switch the one that you have error to a place where has no error to determine if the fan is bad.

My fans will be here tomorrow. I just ordered two for the moment to see if they play nice with my system. If I installed jjust two at the front, would I still notice some sound improvement? I am worried about thermals though. so might need to increase the offset a bit. Do these fans still work like the stock fans in terms of getting faster when computer heats up

Do your recommend the Noctuas over the Corsair or are they the same?

The RGB ones work, but it gives me error codes every time I start up the PC.

I recently got the Noctua fans about a week ago the same ones in this video and after a week of having them every time I turn on my PC an error pops up saying that bottom front fan is missing

Can someone please explain which fans are what on the R13? Top fan is pretty obvious, but which fan is the mid fan, side fan, and front fan? Also, I have noticed that on mine the side fan under load is at 60% fan speed, which gets pretty loud. Is it possible to change the fan lables?

Hello! Swapped out the fans and got an error on the bottom fan. Swapped the top for the bottom and the error remained with the bottom. Swapped out the bottom fan with a new fan and the error remains. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The OEM has better temps on that for long running time since it have more RPM.

The fans made little difference to me. I took them back out and put the originals back. Under load the Noctua need to work a lot harder, negating any benefits.

What is the RPM on those?

I am interested in what 120mm fans are the absolute best for temperature and I personally don't care about noise. I stream new games on highest graphics settings using OBS and review their particle aesthetics, I rarely turn off my computer, and my noise-reduction on my microphone is good, so any ideas for best of best in this regard?

If you don't care about the noise, then stay with the OEM fans, they are very good at performance. a lot more RPM and CPM of air than all other fans.

You have mentioned in a couple comments that the stock OEM fans are good performers but they are louder. However the video shows a noise level improvement And a temp improvement. Do you suggest sticking with the stock fans because the temps aren’t much of an improvement or could you clarify. Thanks again for a great video!

@@davidfrancis2163 I think he means that the other fans are capped at a lower max rpm under sustained heavy load, but idk if he is accounting for manually adjusting the fan curves of both with MSI Afterburner, so I am not sure if his advice is perfect because I do not know his level of manual adjustment... or what levels are possible...

Yeah. The dell fans do spin up extremely fast but are obnoxiously loud. I’m trying to find a sweet spot for high rpm fans and noise. I haven’t been able to find any noise comparisons on high rpm 120mm fans. I guess I might need to just go through some trial and error.

Like 4-5 degree.

On my r13 I find the stock Foxconn fans quiet, I find the AIO pump on on the CPU makes more noise than the fans on idle , makes an annoying whine.

There may be some noise comes from the PSU too.

@@RyanYu opened the case and put my ear right next to the PSU and there isn’t much noise coming from there on idle. It’s definitely the water cooler pump making the sound.

Yea, It's normal since the new fans have less RPM.

When I play the world of Warcraft I saw the fans temperature are around 70-80 is that normal?

Yep

I would be cautious doing this. The Noctua fans only run at 2000 rpm max, which is half of the 4000 rpm max rate of the stock fans. I know the Noctua fans are good quality but there is going to be a reduction in the max amount of heat that the Noctua's can handle verses the stock fans. If you don't push your system hard for extended time periods and you really want to lower the noise level this may be a good modification for you but if you push your system to hard you are almost certainly going to run into thermal issues forcing the cpu/gpu to throttle back and reduce performance to prevent damage from high temps.

I replaced all my fans with Noctua I have an A12x25 on my rad then three 1700rpm P12 high performance redux’s as case fans before the swap while gaming I was at 74C now I’m at 50C while gaming i idled at 50C before swapping any fans now I idle at 30C, after replacing the fans I did a cinebench R23 multi core run *( which puts a 100% load on all cores )* and only hit 76C the OEM fans even if they are 4000 rpm blows chode, my GPU is also running 4C cooler while gamine now so I would say those case fans suck I went to 1700 rpm fans and am getting better thermals thanks dells crap
