Nice and useful overview, one minor error I noticed is that tips are not necessarily extant or current taxa, they can be any taxa for which data is observable, including extinct forms

Came here because I couldn't wrap my head around the ANA-clade being polyphyletic. I thought they were paraphyletic, but the clade doesn't include the common ancestor of them, so it's polyphyletic. Now I can continue my studies!

There are a few errors which should be noted. 1) an un-branched descendant which remains 'unchanged' for a relatively long period most definitely DOES imply primitiveness. There are countless examples ranging from the Tuatara to Opisthocomus hoazin. 2) Secondly natural selection does not necessarily imply non-random differences as Genetic drift ( a well observed mechanism for evolution) may occur within a population.
