I tried to understand for a long time how to get a mesh from curves. I watched quite a few tuts but none of them were able to help me understanding how it works. But you really brightened up my day. Your explenation were absolutely clear, not too slow and not too fast. Thank you very much, I look forward to see your other videos.

Great tutorial, Kai and thank you for it, It noticed that if you take the upper 3 points of any curve (The ones with the highest positive values in Z axis for the front view or the highest positive values in the Y axis for the top view) this will give the best results (usually problem free) compared if you want to start from left or right ( depending on the original curve shape). I thought to bring your attention to this point. Thanks again

F, by default is the button to create a face. Just press whatever you changed that key to :) If you can't remember, go to your settings, find the key you changed (remember the key you changed it to, so you can change it back) and just reset that key to it's default... so you can change it to another key. Does that make sense? :D

@@TutsByKai many thanks for the solution and the reply ! :) on the other hand, I don't think that is something I should do. The method I used was : search : "make face". I've been using the same method for a few days now. On another note : I sincerely believe that tutorials should explain where you can find the option in the UI, and be technically detailed and accurate. Unfortunately, instead, most of the Blender tutorials found on youtube start from the assumption that everyone uses the default blender keymap, and expects you to learn 100 keys so you can properly work in blender. When working with a team that uses multiple 3d programs, having a specific keyset for each program ( this includes blender ) is a bad idea. I'm definitely not against keyboard shortcuts, however I believe tutorials should present it differently. Sorry for the long message, Cheers ! :)

Good advice but it doesn't work for complex shapes. What I found out is that if a bezier curve is imported as a shape with fill in .svg format rom external vector app (as opposed to curves created in Blender), geometry gets divided in quads right away as you turn curves into mesh, automatically!

Hmmm. Outside, like, not inside the curve at all? That's extremely weird. Try it with another curve, see if the same thing happens o.o It's pretty much impossible for a face to be created outside of your mesh, since the face needs vertices, and isn't gonna just make new ones out of nothing, so something really weird is going on :| Let me know :)
