I tried to understand for a long time how to get a mesh from curves. I watched quite a few tuts but none of them were able to help me understanding how it works. But you really brightened up my day. Your explenation were absolutely clear, not too slow and not too fast. Thank you very much, I look forward to see your other videos.

Well thank you very very much! I try my hardest to remain clear and focused on the topic at hand, while not dragging the tutorial out to an hour - creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere to be creative and learn and test new things in :) VERY glad you enjoyed, my friend! More on the way :)

This is by far the best blender tutorial I have discovered. You were straight to the point. No time wasted. Short, clear and simple instructions. Thank you very much. Look forward to seeing more videos of yours in the future:)

Perfect tutorial, simple, fast, to the point. Thx @TutsbyKai
Thank you so much! Loved the technique to fill the vertex with multiple faces!
Such a lifesaver, Thank you for the content!
Awesome video and great, concise explanation. Great job, mate - I'll check other videos on your channel.
Thank you for this tutorial. I actually needed to create faces on the two ends of a cylinder that I had created using two circles and bridge loops. All I needed to do was select the vertices at the end of each end of the tube and press F to create a cylinder!
10/10 best pringle tutorial. Thanks a ton man, this was just me watching one video I needed but I think I will definitely check out your other videos now.

It's hard to find videos that get straight to the point, it's really such a pain. Thank you for being a breath of fresh of air. Will check out other tuts as well. Thought I had a fast playback speed on as well only to find I didn't lol also appreciated. Plus the video does what the title says, what more can you ask for? Two thumbs up!

Yay! Thanks so much Cole. Really appreciate your kind words! Haha, I've done that playback thing before while I was watching videos here on YT. Thought to myself "How is she shredding this guitar this fast? Wait a minute!" :D
Great tutorial, Kai and thank you for it, It noticed that if you take the upper 3 points of any curve (The ones with the highest positive values in Z axis for the front view or the highest positive values in the Y axis for the top view) this will give the best results (usually problem free) compared if you want to start from left or right ( depending on the original curve shape). I thought to bring your attention to this point. Thanks again

Man. REALLY thank you
Instead of filling like that you can also use Face-->Grid Fill and then play with the offset if need be to line up the intersections accordingly. Way faster and 9/10 times gives good geo.

Curves and splines in blender are so in intuitive , one of the only things 3DSmax does like 10x better, littery just add a modifier and it's done

There is no mesh from curves option in blender , I’m using the latest down load of blender. Do you have to enable anything else. I’m basically trying to model a curved shape.

You are a genius. The trick works in 2.79 too.
Even easier than just pressing F couple times: Select all vertex in edit mode with "CTRL+A" > "CTRL+F" > "Grid Fill" (also under "Face" > "GridFill") Thank me later :D

*Absolutely awesome video.* Not only answered what I wanted but more!! Thank you. *Real quick question.* At this point 1:44 when adding faces, is it possible quickly do "cross over" edges, so creating quads? I have no idea how to create quads, or subdivide into quads on an odd shaped flat "plane." Thank you. 💖 *I realise its an older video, I really hope you can help.* 😺

Thank you! Good question! I'm actually not sure, since I've never tried to actually do that. You could possibly use the auto-merge feature, and move some stuff around to create a quad... but I'm not sure about a quicker way to accomplish this :o
Thank you. This really solved my problem. Can you make a tutorial on how to flatten a curve with same length?

Might be a dumb question, but I’m currently away from my pc-can we sculpt meshes?
May be some one know how i can get a 1st look his curve settings with a 3 ponits on line for deforming my object?(befor conver to)
To those who don't know you can also right click and triangulate instead of selecting 3 vertices so on so forth
that took me too long, thanks.

How to do the opposite? Mesh to curve? My problem is, I have hollow tubes of different shapes. I need a curve to run through the center of the hollow tubes, end to end . ..
At 0:41 you press F to create a face. I'm using a different keymap ( as coming from Maya ) , and F does something completely different. Could you share the Action that you do in order to create a curve between the first and final point and close the curve ?
@TutsByKai
4 жыл бұрын
F, by default is the button to create a face. Just press whatever you changed that key to :) If you can't remember, go to your settings, find the key you changed (remember the key you changed it to, so you can change it back) and just reset that key to it's default... so you can change it to another key. Does that make sense? :D

@@TutsByKai many thanks for the solution and the reply ! :) on the other hand, I don't think that is something I should do. The method I used was : search : "make face". I've been using the same method for a few days now. On another note : I sincerely believe that tutorials should explain where you can find the option in the UI, and be technically detailed and accurate. Unfortunately, instead, most of the Blender tutorials found on youtube start from the assumption that everyone uses the default blender keymap, and expects you to learn 100 keys so you can properly work in blender. When working with a team that uses multiple 3d programs, having a specific keyset for each program ( this includes blender ) is a bad idea. I'm definitely not against keyboard shortcuts, however I believe tutorials should present it differently. Sorry for the long message, Cheers ! :)
Is there any shortcuts for this?
hey i know this is much later but when i hit f my surface doesnt fill in? idk is it a keybind i have to put in myself?

I don't see any vertex points/or that lines like fishbone I don't know how to name them I'm beginner how to show them
I have 2.93 and it doesn't have "convert to" it only has "convert" and i am not sure if its the same?
0:50 start
I have to always click at the points and press F, it does not do automatically for me
saint :D
Good advice but it doesn't work for complex shapes. What I found out is that if a bezier curve is imported as a shape with fill in .svg format rom external vector app (as opposed to curves created in Blender), geometry gets divided in quads right away as you turn curves into mesh, automatically!
@TutsByKai
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Only more basic shapes work properly. Wish it ALWAYS worked. That sounds pretty neat though! Thanks for sharing!
Really not sure why this change was made. Probably going to switch it back when 2.8 finally drops.
@TutsByKai
5 жыл бұрын
2.8 changed a lot of strange things to strange places... but it is DEFINITELY worth it.
when I try to select 2 points and try to create a face it begins creating it outside of my mesh ? im stumped on what to do next
@TutsByKai
4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. Outside, like, not inside the curve at all? That's extremely weird. Try it with another curve, see if the same thing happens o.o It's pretty much impossible for a face to be created outside of your mesh, since the face needs vertices, and isn't gonna just make new ones out of nothing, so something really weird is going on :| Let me know :)

@@TutsByKai I think I saw something where if you select two vertices and do face, it creates more vertices. I think you need to do what you did and select three.
