Hey Ash I know you posted this video 9 months ago, but I wanted to add a couple other tips: First, double check those larger pay/longer distance orders (eg $28 for 26 miles). If the order is for one item (like a single order of pasta), there’s a chance you could end up being tipbaited. I’ve cancelled orders that seemed “too good to be true”. Be careful. Second, be careful about the +additional orders that Uber Eats likes to throw your way. More often than not the $$:mile (or time) ratio is much lower. Third, is pay attention to events (like a marathon, sporting event, etc) that may be occurring (or scheduled to occur) in your typical zones and plan accordingly. Also, listening to local radio during peak times and/or monitoring apps like Apple Maps, can alert you to increased traffic and you can avoid those zones as well.

@@DashWithAshinCanada you’re more than welcome! I live in the Boston area and have been relying on UE as a primary source of income for almost a yr now. I don’t use any of the other gig work apps as I’ve done very well so far with UE (though they still haven’t reinstated my shop & pay…ugh). I’ve learned the hard way so many times but it’s folks like yourself who’ve helped keep me informed. Happy to help however I can. It’s a rough world out there. Good tips ash 🙂. Specially tip no 04. It will be helpful to decision making (with in few seconds) about accepting or leaving a specific order. I have confusion about Tip 01 (about time slots) and Tip 07 (Chasing peak pay). Can I look the earning trends (hourly view) in uber app and decide the geographical location and time slots? Is that good? Need your suggestion on this. Thanks in advance Ash.

  • @DashWithAshinCanada

The app will say whatever they want to say but it won't actually determine the outcome of the money you make. Uber constantly says it's busy in my market and since the holidays, it's not. So yeah you can look at the earning trends and decide location and time slot but just keep in mind these companies will show what they need to show to get drivers to go out.

There is no more "peak pay" on uber anymore lol. Also I think you put too much emphasis on dollar per km then you should, if I see a 17 dollar for 20 km order, but it will take a half hour because it's mostly on the highway, I'll do it, and you should too. In my opinion dollars per hour is much more important then distance. There is only so much time in a day and if I see an order that pays at least 30 an hour I'll take it regardless of distance.

I agree. When I stopped focusing on dollars per mile I started making more money. My emphasis is now on dollars per hour. When I started paying attention to my online time versus the money I'm projected to make I started noticing some trends. I won't go completely into the breakdown of it. Everything with these apps is highly market dependent so my experience could be different from someone else's but focusing on dollars per hour has completely changed everything for me. I still drive about the same miles as when I was cherry picking if not less.

I mean double stack orders would be if they were going to the same drop off location I would have no problem but they don't be and also they do add more time on how the drop off time window. That's why I follow the keep declining those measly ain't worth my time orders and sometimes not all the time I notice they can't get anyone to waste their time either and then they bump the pay on those measly low payout orders. So, yeah that's why I say DECLINE! DECLINE! DECLINE! as many orders until you get one that's actually worth taking.

question from a newer driver: With the double stack orders and add on orders, are you able to truly see how far you're going to have to go for the offered amount? So far when I see an 'add on' I have NO idea where I'm going to have to go to deliver that order. They're usually WAY out of my zone/area and not worth it, but sometimes... they pay off. Is it just a risk you have to take?

  • @DashWithAshinCanada

So great question. We can see how much distance the drop off will be , for example something like a extra $5 for 3km. I would refuse that, it's too low for me but if I got a extra $8 for 3km which I often will see, I will surely take it , I just can't see in advance the exact drop off like I can a single order, no.

Let it be known that your market is the single most important factor. No strategy will overcome a bad/weak market. I'm in the military and the area surrounding post sucks. It's low income, there isn't a ton of sit-down restaurants and it isn't a very big town. Meanwhile I experimented with more middle class town that's an hour away and has a lot more sit down restaurants and lo behold I made MUCH more money

Based on what I've seen it means 2 things either 1) client waited so long for the order they called support and got it boosted or 2) too many drivers ditched the order to begin with which makes Uber bump up the order. I did a 16km order with $27 coming from Uber and $13 came from the client , it's rare but it happens
