I’ve only ever used the 2nd knot but with so many knots being discussed I didn’t know if there was a better one out there and I was being an old numpty being 30 years behind the trend. Good video, thanks!

The knot in tomorrows video can also be used on hooks and is worth trying, it will be live at 5 as always
I always use the second knot. Was told it was called a half blood knot. Don’t know if that’s right. But will give the knot less knot a go👍
Thank you, need this as a newbie.

Glad it was helpful!
i consider snipping the band off as balanced effort mate 😄 just make them all up with a band and snip it off if you don't need/want it,less tie and effort yhan making both styles of hooklength 👍

It's an option I guess and I've never thought of it lol
Palomar or uni knot can't beat them for eyed hook without a hair rig,
The second knot was a half blood, if you went back up to the top of the whippings and out again it would be a tucked half blood which is more secure and less prone to slippage. A grinner is formed by going through the eye and then forming a loop alongside the main line and running through that and over the main line 5 times before tightening down, it is a better knot than the half blood but both are weaker than the knotless when it comes to tying eyed hooks or swivels. Probably the best knot to use other than the knotless is the palomar, I won't explain that one, but it is very simple and incredibly strong. A full blood knot is generally used for joining two pieces of line and is a tidy knot with the tag ends trimmed off in the centre of the knot but a double grinner is easier to tie IMO and nearly as neat but the tag ends are at either end of the knot. A modified albright knot is also a great knot for joining two pieces of line and my preferred knot for attaching shock leaders. Learn these few knots and practice them and you won't ever be found wanting for lack of knowledge or skill.

@@Scottsalchemy everybody should know how to tie the essential knots. The only problem with the Palomar is that it can be difficult to tighten down when using heavy lines, you have to tease it, particularly if you double pass through the hook or swivel eye (double pass makes it even stronger).
