Straight up the best automotive diagnosis video I've ever watched on KZread, and I've watched a lot. Thanks for being so clear and thorough!
I suspect I have a bad solenoid on my old Corolla and stumbled across this video. It's straight to the point, no BS, I love it!

I've watched so many videos that include needless time wasting information that is never relevant to the issue at hand. Having lived in New York for over five years of my life, I've gained the attitude of "get-to-the-point". Simple, straight forward, and concise. I've never done this but your video will be the go-to instructions I'll use in the future. Thank you.
Very concise and great video with proper testing techniques. You are excellent with this subject. keep it up!!!
Wow so thorough I love it! The other people that make videos like these just don't seem to care about the details I mean he even told us that it's located at the front of the engine which is so key. Thanks again!

It was pretty informative. One issue right at the start of the video where you said this part sends information to the vehicles computer is not actually true. The valve is just a dumb component that's controlled by the computer.

You SIR are one of the best I've seen! Super informative, super step-by-step instruction, and great photo work to show what you are talking about! ALSO......... you SPEAK clearly and loudly enough so that every word is audible. You don't "assume" that the viewer knows anything and your explanations are spot-on. Thank you for this instructional video! It's going in my library now.........

Thank You so much for your video! You have not only helped me find my issue when doing my diagnostic for my smart car issue but you also did an AMAZING job with describing inm addition to the codes that the car would throw; explain what exactly will be going on with the car in addition to the codes being thrown to ensure more that this is most likely the issue. With your help I was confident in my online purchase for finding the part that was needed for my car. Please keep the love and support going by uploading more videos like this so us amateur auto enthusiasts can have some support when working on our cars! God Bless💌
Great video!! Thank you for posting ☺️ my engine light has been on & was told that code meant needed to replace valve you were talking about. If at a light engine would shut down & sometimes hard to get back running & getting into traffic. Got to point where battery was drained. Today went got new battery - everything was great 5 min later & engine light returned . 5 min later stalled out in middle of traffic @ a light. 😬 fortunately had help pushing it into a parking lot. Was able to get running again and get home. Went to autozone and got the above valve. Wish I found your video first!! Took a couple hours but finally got the old valve out & new one In. But this video would have saved us so much time & F bombs 😂
I love videos that are concise and to the point. Great job!

Thanks man ! mine looks clean as hell soaking it for 2 days to try and get any gunk out if there was any it wasn't visible, with mine the spring is at the top near the connector so it probably traps a lot of gunk and its completely seized! Also to anyone trying to test the spring by moving it up and down be careful its pretty brittle metal as I just found out when It chips a piece off. Luckily mine was seized or unluckily so it doesn't matter.
Nice video and clear explanation congrats, keep it up.😎. Unfortunately in a Volvo C 70 you have to do a looot of things more...to arrive to the Solenoid. But the purpose & the explanation is also applicable in this case.
So clear and through. Thanks.

Good explanation regarding vvti solenoid,...easy to understand. 👍👍, thank you
Great video. My VVT harness voltage shows ~7.3 V. Resistance show ~7.6. Use 9V battery test is best way. Old battery of 7.7V does not trig valve open or close. Use MAF cleaner clean surface, and ultrasonic bath clean VVT ( merging into ethanol or gasoline) to remove the tiny deposit. Put it back, it works great. Toyota part costs $244. OEM part costs ~30 bucks. Cleaner costs 15 bucks.
Great explanation, thank you.
I had fault code P1007 and P1014 on Peugeot 207 car could not start I just cleaned it and bingo it started again. Be careful the symptom initially looks like a fuel problem, don’t replace your fuel pump just yet. Thanks for the video!
I really appreciate your channel. Idk how, but you always seem to have the videos that I need, versus some of these other channels. Are the VVT solenoids expensive to get replaced?

Awesome Video! Had P0023 (2012 Enclave) (also had P2099, P0430) engine chugging slightly in OD. Finally SOLVED it by replacing VVT Solenoid (think problem was: I cracked solenoid plastic housing when replacing my alternator), But first replaced Camshaft Position Sensor (see steps below) but didn't get rid of codes so I replaced VVT solenoid after solenoid connector cracked off in my hands when trying to unplug connector to test. Also used liquid electrical tape to reseal connector wires as they were pulled back from connector and showing bare wire. Side note: Did all the following and didn't solve it...ugh: Replaced the Camshaft position sensor & bank 2 lower O2 Sensor... but code came back. Bank 2 exhaust is located just to the left of the Oil fill cap (near top of engine). Unfortunately, it is hidden behind a ton of stuff that needs to be removed to get to it. Heres what it took: Detach negative battery cable from battery. Remove10mm holding ac line near top front. Remove (2) 10mm holding overflow tank (move aside). Remove Fusebox cover. Loosen (2) phillips 10mm bolts (holding fuse wire harness) inside fusebox. Remove (1) 13mm bolt connecting positive battery terminals to fusebox. Unclip and remove fusebox middle part (with fuses) removing wire harness from bottom. Unclip/remove fusebox bottom. Remove (3) 10mm fusebox aluminum baseplate. Unclip wire harnesses from baseplate. Remove (2) 15mm engine mount bolts (holding rubber figure 8 mount). Slide rubber figure 8 mount out sideways. Remove (2) 18 mm bolts from part of mount that bolts directly to engine. Remove (1) 10mm camshaft position sensor bolt. Remove sensor. Detach sensor wire clip. Reverse to replace everything. Lots of parts to remove - it wasn't that bad once I figured it all out but just a lot of little maneuvering to get such a small part out. I would give yourself 1.5 hours (or more) to remove and 1.5 hours to replace. This same/similar procedure can be used to get to the alternator on this car also but I'd also remove radiator hose for alternator and plastic shroud for alternator.
Many thanks, God bless you 👍

At the 30 second mark of the video your finger appears to be directly below the Intake cam VVT solenoid. The 1ZZ had a VVT on the intake, or exhaust cam depending on the series 1 or 2 engine version. Then I believe on the 2ZZ there are VVT hubs on both cams. Thanks for the video.

Hey great video! Thanks for the help! I was able to identify that my exhaust solenoid was out! It had the correct reading for resistance (11 ohms) but when I connected it to the batter it wouldn’t move! I tested the inlet solenoid and it clicked open and shut without issue.
Can a mechanically stuck open VVT solenoid affect starting engine compression and hence cause an extended crank cycle? Would it also lower the measured psi during a compression test?
Helpful thank you so much
Just replaced mine today didn't have a clue what it was 51$ 15 minutes... Gave me a camshaft sensor fault but I found it because it cracked open and was leaking oil squirting out. Thank you
