I share how to remove stuck solenoid valve or a guide for stubborn valve timing solenoid removal. Although done on a 2008 Matrix (2002 - 2007 Corolla) with the 1ZZ engine, the principles are mostly universal. Knowledge on how to remove stubborn solenoid valves is essential as these can break quite easily. A stuck valve timing solenoid removal can quickly become a nightmare without the requisite skills. Have you had experiences with a difficult valve timing solenoid, how did you get it off? Let's chat 😁
This has been a nightmare for me as my mechanic used gasket to apply on the o ring before putting it back as the o ring wasn't enough to stop an oil leak. Now I can't remove said part again as it wouldn't move at all

That's a rubbish move by the mechanic. Depending on the car, the leverage method may work, if it's a Honda, it's a different story as the VTC solenoid is usually recessed. I rather use a long needle plier for those.
What symptoms do you expect with such clogged solenoid.

VVT solenoid issues gives rise to a CEL and the car usually enters limp mode; won't rev beyond 3000RPM. Can also lead to mechanical engine noise.
