Thank you for this info! My ‘06 Honda Element went into “limp mode” yesterday after I accelerated getting on the highway 😱 I was panicked. Was able to get over to the shoulder and after recovering from shaking, called AAA. Got towed to my mechanic who did the error check. Sure enough, it was the VVT Solenoid. Even tho I was 1K from needing an oil chg, he said my oil was on the low side. He explained what happens with low oil and the VVT. Of course it sounded like Greek 😂. I left my car with him and Googled VVT Solenoid. Watching this video explaining how it all works - Okay I get it now! 💡

An OCV solenoid failed on my 2016 2grfe. Oil level was full and I change it myself every 5,000 miles with quality oil. The oil in the engine at that time only had 800 miles on it. Engine doesn't burn oil. Solenoid was clean as a whistle. In my case, my solenoid simply failed. Bought a new one and the car is back to normal.

Just to inform everyone. Even if that part does click when you put power to it, it does not mean its any good. I found that out on my honda. Was having a gas cap light. I changed the vent solenoid. Tested the old part it did click but didn't turn off the light. The new part worked immediately.

Our car can’t get past 4000rpm while driving but parked it revs all the way no problem. Could the vvt solenoid be bad and is there greater oil pressure in the motor while under load from the transmission vs being parked Edit: it’s a Murano with CVT transmission

+Laverne We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

It should be at the lower part of the engine, where the crank shaft would be.

Sorry, but oil burning in an engine gives a bluish smoke. Black smoke is a rich mixture... it used to happen a lot on the old cars pre catalytic convertors.

Thumbs down on this one. Love your videos 1A Auto! But when I see one like this with the instructor shown speaking on a side view, it's just weird! What's the purpose of it? It's not that he is not cool but it's not about him otherwise I'd be watching on the facebook where all the cool people are. LoL
