    My husband is very proud that he quickly got our former stray to sit. We ordered your cards the other week and love them. He grew up with a very rambunctious tabby who didn't take orders 😂. Thankfully our little voidling was already well behaved. But I guess still too much cat for the fool who abandoned her.

I'm eager to learn from your cat training videos and apply them to my own pet. I must say, I love your videos! Also, is using a app called dog clicker suitable for training my cat, as I don't have an actual clicker?

The only call out is that you have to be consistent with the noise, regardless of what it is, or the sound will be meaningless! There are a couple things you can do if you want to train your kittens together: 1) Use a different clicker sound (so that they don't confuse their "click" with their siblings) 2) Teach them different tricks (so they don't both do the trick at the same time) The other alternative, is locking one cat at a time. You can lock yourself with the cat you are training instead of the cat that it's not trained. That makes the experience for the cat that's alone nicer.

    interesting, i taught my baby to sit in a completely different way, i just keep treats on me at all times and when he did sit i combined it with the word and the finger, eventually my smart boy (same day actually) responded to the finger and the word, so i did it daily and eventually he internalised it and i started teaching him at 10 years of age, I figured it was easier for him to be taught like that based on how he learned other stuff automatically like jumping up surfaces when asked or coming when asked or coming for food or following when asked which all were unintentionally. he has now passed at almost 18 and my heart is broken but i cherish the moments we spent together and how we had fun training together. he sat before food every time and gave me a kiss before getting food. now im looking to provide a home for two shelter cats and to do it even more including leash walking and i have no idea how to train two cats at once or if they are even into it. EDIT: i started with a clicker but he was sensitive and hated the noise, i tried more than 10 different ones including a mere clicking pen but he hated all of them and it was too bulky for me too so i ended up using just my voice and it worked great for us

    Hey Albert, how are you! I find that most critical part, where Jessy and I get stuck, is just finding a way to get her to do a motion or behavior for the very first time. You are addressing this here in your video with offering several ways that a cat might respond in trying to get her to sit. Can you tell me, do the cards really deal with this, or is it up to my ingenuity? I don't have the cards yet...I have been forking out $ for things that aren't that helpful. The book I bought leaves out what I consider to be the part I want help with. It tends to go like this: "click and treat once your cat has performed the behavior. Then repeat this about 10 times." Shoot! I need help figuring out how to get her there in the first place. I want to know a bit more about the cards before I spend more dough. What can you tell me? ❤

    Hello! I try to offer as much context as possible on the cards but there’s only that much space. I’m working on videos like this one for every single trick and I’ll link the tricks to the cards once all the videos are done (not there yet). If you get stuck you can always shoot me a message and we can try to figure it out together, otherwise, you might just wait for the videos to come up! Good luck!

    hi albert ! I received the cards, but I have a question. I wanted to try to begin with the trick « finger targetting » but my kitten (4 months) jump on my fingers so fast and hurts me. I think it'll be the same with all the other tricks that require you to hold a treat between your fingers. He bite my fingers and he digs his nails into my hand. So by reflex I'm forced to let go of the treat. Do you have any advice for me? He's not a violent cat at all, but when it comes to treats... he goes crazy 😂 Sorry if you've already mentioned this in a video, I'd enjoy watching it. Btw, the cards are amazing, I will leave a very good review 🥰

  • @OutdoorBengal

    @OutdoorBengal

    Hey! Its TOTALLY fair! You can use a target stick if you are getting hurt. The alternative is to trim the nails enough and hold onto the treat until they learn that that is not the way. The target stick we use is this one: amzn.to/3rypUSs

    I kind of touch this point in this video, never ever let the treat go. They will learn that that's not the way. If it's so painful that you can't hold it, yell and complain and stop the training session there and then (as soon as it happens).

    My new kitten bites me all the time. I don't use a clicker but every time he does anything to hurt me, it is game over for a long time. If he is not hurting me, he is getting all the attention he wants, running around, snuggles, food, toys. As soon as my kitten hurts me one time, I just stop and move away and ignore him for a little while and then start again at square one. I also make everything I want my kitten to understand, to be a very fun experience. Scratching and biting me is never a nice experience. It means he gets no playtime and no attention.

    We actually started out by leaving treats in front of our former stray. After she got more comfortable with us, we started feeding from our cupped fingers. At first she seemed hesitant to pick from between fingers. Now she's just fine. Every time she acts like a diva and bites or scratches, we firmly say "Gentle" after saying Ow. She's learned better, but if she's extra bored/zoomie she'll act up. It's a learning process. Just make sure to disinfect immediately.
