Albert & Mia, the Adventure Bengal Cat

Albert & Mia, the Adventure Bengal Cat

A journal of love, life and adventure with Mia, my adventure bengal cat.

Being outdoors brings a sense of fulfillment that ultimately leads into happiness. Sometimes having a cat will deincentivize people to go out and explore the world.

I would love to inspire and help other cat owners to do more with their cats by sharing our adventures and how I trained Mia to be comfortable with this lifestyle. You and your cat can do it as well!

  • @OutdoorBengal

I tend to look at her when my ears pop and she doesn't show any signs of distress. It might depend from cat to cat.

@@OutdoorBengal oh good, I was always nervous of that, bringing pets aboard an airplane ain't THAT uncommon, but if I were to do so, I would want it was comfortable for them as it is for me, or maybe more so.

My cat doesn't even care about treats as soon he goes out. I have managed to get him used to the harness and he doesn't try to wiggle too much out of it but I cant reinforce with reward because he wont even pay attention to treats outside the house

rewarding for good behavior (god why do i suck at english at times like this) and not punishing for bad behavior isnt only the best thing to do for cats its for all animals (and yes that includes homo sapiens) also indeed body language is key. our last cat which we had to put down at the age of 19 because of age related complications actually learned us a specific body/vocal language for when she was about to throw up and i still dont know how but we also learned her to only throw up on the floor and not the bed or the carpet its weird how doing stuff out of love can teach even cats who should be expired (for a lack of better words) in a matter of weeks while im sure it would have never happend if we like sprayed her with water or something

I´m sorry to hear that... try to keep them separate as much as you can. Are they coexisting or in different rooms? Sometimes it can take a while! Introducing my cat and my partner's dog took almost a year!

@@OutdoorBengal Hello, thank you for your reply. No, they do not coexist. I installed screen doors everywhere in the house to separate them. The new cat is the aggressor, she doesn’t let my cat near the screen and charges at her badly. My cat tried to approach for sometime time but now, my cat is the attacker. So heartbroken just thinking that I’ll have to re home her.

I think I need quick advice. I have studied many of your videos and will watch the advanced leash training. We MUST be able to go outside, soon! This cat is used to a forested yard. I started wrong with training her until I found your channel. We have gone back to the beginning, with the word, "No". Success! Then finger training, a short time. She does not progress to coming when called, even though she used to come most of the time when I said her name and "come" or whistled. Now she is pouting and going back to sleep, only to torture me later when I want to sleep! We drained part of her energy before beginning, too! Two nights of pouting! She is very strong-willed, Bengal-Tabby mix. She also has a bad temper, despite my sweet treatment of her all the time. It does not take much to set her off. Grant you, we just moved in April. Does it confuse her that I take her back and forth to the former yard, unless it's over 85 degrees F? Any further, quick suggestions, please I did keep her home, due to very hot weather. I cannot take her inside to cool off. We have stayed home about one week. Meanwhile, I was plugging along, setting my alarm to get up before daybreak. That is when she wakes up. She was alone these last two days about 5 hours. Maybe she is more sensitive. We played, ate and napped when I got home. I think she had been sleeping some while I was away. I thought she'd be ready to go after this second play session, half done.

There are many good alternatives! A word cue like "YES" or "GOOD" work well. Also snapping fingers it's an option. The only call out is that you have to be consistent with the noise, regardless of what it is, or the sound will be meaningless! I posted a video talking about this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZK2e0qmOlsy-eNo.html

My fake flowers were viciously attacked when she was waiting for breakfast! She had been sleepy after a difficult walking session, where she just basically sat there. She stopped acting sleepy when I finally took off her halter. So, yeah, lack of burning off energy, but we had started playing and she still did it, coming back over and over again. She ignored my no, so I physically removed her from the area, with her returning. Power struggle. So, vinegar? On fake plants, humn.🙃
