I have a lore for the chiseled Blackstone on the gold blocks. Piglins like to store their gold under the bastions and to identify which block is for which piglin, they press their snout on black stone bricks to indicate it's theirs.

That's a good explanation but that would mean that Blackstone if very soft. So maybe they chisel it with a tool?

You can also take a zombified piglin in a boat with you and that will scare away the piglins which allows you to easily loot the chests

idk what's the point of doing all off this stuff now... literally the first thing you should do in any minecraft world is to get an elytra so that you can actually move around, and getting to the end takes like 20-30 minutes after starting a world

@@Kilp_ Not everybody is trying to rush to the end game. And it's refreshing to see creators online take it slow as well. You tend to miss so much of the cool stuff about a Minecraft world when you're flying a hundred blocks above it in the air.

@@Raskolnikov70 you're not supposed to fly 100 blocks above, it's just moving faster than walking +end cities give you op loot early game +you get shulkerboxes which are also op +you get 69 levels from killing the dragon which is enough for 14 max level enchants +you get all the books you'll ever need from a stronghold library

PRO TIP: 'drop lava buckets on anyone you dont like' makes my life so easy glad to share it with you

Putting One More Day at the start of all these videos is such a smart move. Really gives the feeling of something familiar I'm coming back to whenever I watch a new video of yours.

I hope so! I definitely want that cozy familiar feeling for this series. Doesn't always fit the tone of the video (especially when we go to the Nether), but I love Lena Raine's music so much, and even the title 'One More Day' is perfect for Minecraft.

Piglin brutes hit really hard. I'm glad to see a somewhat "safe" solution to take them out!

Idk if you talked about this but you could've talked about how axes put shield on a cooldown so piglin brutes more difficult to deal with

After this episode I have a mental image of Pix dealing with IRL problems by carrying around a bucket of lava. Someone bumps into you with their cart at the Tesco? "DON'T MAKE ME DUMP MY BUCKET OF LAVA ON YOUR HEAD MATE!!!!!" 🤣

My favorite loot from the Bastians is the possibility of getting the music Disk "Pigstep". That song slaps!

I think I understand why my first experience in the Nether was so “cursed”: my portal generated in a Basalt delta and my first bastion was this one of the video. I died many times and never went back there for a year 😂 This series gives me hope that I can face the Nether again 😂😊💪🏻

@@Chia_Mochia my most recent nether spawn was at the edge of a cliff, on a plateau 1 layer thick but 50+ blocks over a lava sea. And then I got annihilated by piglins and a ghast causing me to lose my bow with unbreaking 3, flame, infinity, power 3.

This is the week I've been waiting for. This episode in particular. I've found 5 bastion remnants in my realm that I want to take on but have been too nervous to as of yet

I tend to break down the entire bastion when i find one that big.. from the top down.. only because i love those cracked and gilded bricks for building.. so nice to have a bunch. But i definitely do what you do, work from the top down that way you can easily deal with the brutes.

Pro tip: You can double click the item in your inventory to collect all of the same item from the chest, to save time.

My favored part about the Brutes is that they take your stuff after they kill you. I don't know why I found it so funny seeing a couple of them wearing my armor when I went back to retrieve it.

That is not exclusive to piglin brutes. Regular piglins, zombies and skeletons can do that, too. A zombie fully kitted out and armed with Netherite is pretty hilarious.

@@gamingnscience Villagers can be given armor as well and it will protect them from attacks. They won't pick it up on their own, but you can stick them in a hole and use a dispenser to put it on them. I just wish it would show up like it does on a player or hostile mob - a villager kitted out in diamond armor would look pretty nuts.

You can use the pillar + lava combo but if you don't have lava or any blocks on you but you do have a boat, you can put it in front of you and trap the mean pig in there. Easy target, can be hit with no consequences. Watch out for your back though Edit: I didn't watch when I commented. I see that Pixlriffs also mentioned the boat method

Wow i was getting ready to raid a bastion with my friends! This series is one of the most helpful

In my first days of playing Minecraft, I didn't want to be guided but to explore. I knew the bared minimum about the Nether. I knew I needed nether wort and blaze rods to start brewing. I did know to wear a little gold, but had no idea what a fortress was like and certainly not a bastion, though I may have heard that word a couple times. I wandered around the wastes and got a little bored, ventured into a fortress very near my portal. I escaped it with a few blaze rods and even a wither skull. Only to smack into a bastion that had spawned just at the fortress border. A brute took me out very fast. I was confused because I was wearing gold. I couldn't find any nether wort either. The bastion/fortress combo knocked the confidence out of me. (It did again more recently, which is why I chickened out and went back to normal for a few weeks. I got it back and fought the dragon on hard and won without any deaths, though the shulkers managed to knock me down to 2 hearts. anyway...) The bastion is the main reason I started watching guides. I'm glad I found yours. I have defeated the dragon 3 times, figured out a lot of other parts in the few months since I discovered this gem of a game hidden behind the children's genre facade. While I am not ready for the wither, the mansion or the guardians, between this and a few others, I am getting deeper into the game than I ever thought I would.

Ahhh thank you for explaining the different types of the bastions. I keep forgetting which one is which.

I recently updated to 1.18 travelled a few 1000 blocks on bedrock to explore new parts, raided a Bastion , never knew about the treasure under the chiseled Blackstone so Thanks for including it. I had moved a couple of blocks but seems as I should of removed more.

The lore behind them might be a bit darker. I saw a theory where the ancient civilization, the builders who formed the strongholds, jungle and desert temples, basically all generated structures, people think they enslaved the piglins to mine all the netherite. It explains why there is no netherite ore, just ancient debris; all of it had been mined away

Love seeing you play the game a little slower. Been playing since beta so usually have wings in the first few hours of a new world. Been playing a slower world since the caves and am honestly having some old school fun, I'm even hunting for a good horse atm.

Love dumping lava on piglins during speed runs, lol. Would you ever consider renovating a bastion remnant to its former glory? Could be a cool building video. Maybe will you make an episode on collecting music discs in the future because you can get Pigstep from Bastions (Not sure if you said that already).

Oh wow, I learned something new today! Even after over 10 years of playing, I never knew of the Piglin’s vault nor the trick of covering yourself up when opening chests. Thank you! I’ll go find that vault myself in my singleplayer world- I have a residential bastion just like this!

You are soooo good at this game! Good tip about making a chest into a double to be able to put a hopper under without breaking the gilded blackstone.

I love your videos and I find myself wanting to explore my world after watching one which is what I'm gonna do now lol

When I play on peaceful, there are still piglins, but they do not attack or even defend themselves (they should). Well when I loot the Bastion, the piglins get triggered but are held in check by the peaceful mode. Instead, they vibrate and grunt weirdly like they're stuck between actions. It's funny. Try it some time.

In the next episode can you talk about soul speed since it's kind of nether related and you even found gold boots with that enchantment

I didn't know about the lava trick or the vaults. Great episode!

I just died in Piglin Brute in Bastion and lost my Trident with 5 enchants, but its all good, i made one again. So this vid is perfect, ill challenge that bastion again

moral of this story, to dispose of the piglins follow Mumbo's example of peace love and plants :D

I remember my first encounter with a Piglin Brute. I was like this thing is the hardest mob in Minecraft. I wasn’t expecting one shot or two shot kills.

regarding pix losing line of site at aroun 9:00 in 1.16.1 (the version of minecraft with bastions most favoured by speedrunners) piglins that are aggressive (aggro) towards the player are much better at chasing the player & figuring out how to find a path to get closer to the player, which is very useful in getting all the piglins into a hole to trade away some gold without being able to wander off. Since version 1.16.1 (can't remember exactly when, sorry!) some changes were made to piglin pathfinding, so now they will very easily lose interest if they were aggro on the player but now can't see the player - this is what's happening with the piglin brute in the clip I've referenced, and is one of many reasons why speedrunners tend to favour 1.16.1 for post-nether-update speedrunning just thought I'd provide some detail for those who may try to copy speedrunning techniques when it comes to bastion raiding, but are getting frustrated by the piglins not co-operating :')

Their pathfinding AI has been terrible in every version since 1.16 dropped. I've found the best way to take on a bastion is to stand outside of it for 10 or 15 minutes and just wait. By then most of the piglins will trap themselves in a hole or some other nook and cranny of the structure and you can meander through at your leisure. They should also improve the AI of the crossbow-armed piglins as well so they're more of a threat, otherwise it's simple to scaffold around the outside of the bastion and take everything out with a bow.

Housing bastion triple chest ramparts have 4 gold blocks in the room below the triple chest. And also 2 more extra gold blocks. So there are 10 more gold blocks there in the bastion you just raided. U can go back and collect em.

If I see that bastion: Ok it is housing bastion, I am not gonna do the topdown housing it would suck, lets do manhunt route and I can probably sub 13, that's a PB yes. BTW you explained some stuff pretty well like the chests in particular ANY TYPE OF CHESTS, I didn't knew that, I always think my minecraft concepts are 100% completed but... no there is more to lear in pixlriff's video, that's why we watch them.

Yea but they aren't really valuable since they only drop golden axes which you can smelt but you probably can get more gold by mining in the deepslate layers of the overworld. Plus you can't even trade with them. They're pretty much just like a dangerous mob.

I didn’t know there was a way to get gold nuggets from gilded blackstone! I always thought it was just a treasure block that piglins protected because it had the gold veins in it (not that the gold could actually be obtained). Very cool! Although, I’ll still be silk touching them to use for decoration 😂

Another item that you can get only in Bastion Remmant other than the Snout Banner Pattern is the Pigstep Music Disk which is difficult for me to find in my world.

Took me about 6 bastions to find one in my world. Can’t imagine the bad rng I’ll get when finding otherside (two of the strongholds I got were cut in half by generation, some didn’t even have loot chests at all!)

Piglin brutes aren’t bothered. They won’t fight zombie Piglins but they’re not afraid of them either.

A fun note about Bastions, in peaceful difficulty, the normal piglins still spawn in the structures as they are considered neutral mobs unless angered, it will be the only place to find them though as they follow hostile mob spawning otherwise. However, since the brutes are considered hostile mobs, they will not spawn at all in peaceful. (I only know this about bastions cause I was playing a significant amount of peaceful difficulty gameplay when the 1.16 nether update rolled around. I now play mostly hardcore cause I can't trust myself with having access to commands in normal survival.)

This is for Java right? Because on BE, piglin brutes still spawn, but like the piglins, on peaceful they don’t attack Edit: also correct me if Im wrong, but I played on peaceful difficulty once and piglins still spawned naturally so is this different on the two versions

Thank you so much for this video. I recently tunneled into a bastion that spawned in a crimson forest so I get the pleasure of being cornered by hoglins as well as the brutes. It seems to be a fairly small bastion with a magma spawner at the bottom. Any tips on those types of bastions?

that's a treasure bastion i believe. break the spawner to prevent magma cubes from spawning, go to the top to the bridge where there should be 2 gold blocks. if you break those and convert into gold, throw them on the ground it should distract the piglins on and around the bridge enough so that you can get time to geet the gold blocks and the chests below the bridge. if there are a bunch of walls on the platform below the bridge, replace them with any building block in case any of the loot falls into the lava. i suggest building a wall on the bridge 3 blocks high outlining the edges of the platform with a lot of gold blocks in case any brutes come down and scare you.

Unless you’re gonna make a magma cube farm, break the magma spawner, and bring fire res. Certain floors of the structure have loot chests; on the side without the spawner brutes guard each chest room, and on the side with the spawner, most piglins are at the bottom along with the magma cubes. The fire resistance is really helpful in case you fall in

You can blow up the chests with tnt and the piglins won't get mad at you hell some brutes may even caught themselves in the explosion just make sure there aren't any lava or fire nearby.

Hey pix, is this intentional that the series is going slower this season? Because the last time you had beaten the dragon around episode 22

There have been five Minecraft updates since I started that series, there's a LOT more to do before beating the dragon. The majority of stuff I've done in the last three weeks wasn't even possible in 1.13

oh my god!! i always thought of piglins as cute kawaii mobs! if you look at their snouts only it looks like they have cute eyes and blush! and I just realized that the part where there eyes are isn't hair!

I just tested on bedrock edition you can raid a bastion undetected if you use an invisibility potion as long as you don’t attack them i don’t know if this works on Java

Tip: If you accidentally hit a piglin or forget to put on any gold armor you can drop a gold ingot and run/fly away and come back after 5-10 minutes

Pixlriffs axe wielding mobs do the same damage on java and bedrock.

IMO you should be able to use barrels and your enderchest without piglins getting mad, since they shouldn't even recognize those as possibly their own chests. Not being able to use them without tedious special precautions really detracts from the experience of having a base in the nether.

Gives the nether becoming livable a cost with those guys around to be honest and I’m all in for it. Plus piglins themselves aren’t too difficult to deal with, they dont have a lot of health and don’t spawn in every biome

4:10 The remnants are NOT a good alternative to the fortress with regard to brewing. This is why blaze rods and powder can only be obtained from blazes and nowhere else found. The only alternative would be a donation from another player.

This week on my podcast, I got an email from a Bedrock Edition player who had found two Nether Fortresses which generated without Nether Wart. They had plenty of blaze rods from a spawner, but the interiors of the fortress had generated without staircase rooms or any loot chests. In circumstances like that, a Housing Bastion could be the player's best chance of finding Nether Wart without having to search even further for Nether Fortresses.

if a mob is invisible (but not like, with invisibility potion particles, just they're there but you can't see them on your screen in a weird, glitch-y kinda way) then generally I'd advise ESC>Save & quite to title, and then re-open that world. If that doesn't work, then fully closing the game & reopening minecraft using the minecraft launcher might do the job. It's usually a problem of the "local server" version of your world hosted on your computer and the "client-side" version of your world (the world as you see it on your screen) are disagreeing about something - in this case, one of them is saying "hey, there's a piglin brute here & it's attacking you" and the other is saying "piglin brute? I don't know what you're talking about ...I am just being attacked by thin air right now!" and closing & reopening things usually does the trick to get them to agree again

i take on these with iron armor and yeah not really anything else sometimes not even full iron just be careful they are still dangerous

We can actually use a hopper to get the animals from the chest without opening it

The covering yourself while opening the chest or breaking gold works differently in bedrock Even they don't see u, they'll try to attack you
