@@Pixlriffs the music made the end of the episode feel really eerie and spooky and like what had been a cheerful episode at that point was taking a dark turn. In particular, since you had to go through the logs to show the message "librarian drowned", the message being delivered from an interface that seems very serious and fourth-wall-shattering - it did feel like you were sifting through evidence. And then going to the crime scene and going into the aquafer to recreate the villagers' last moments before they died in their watery graves - it all felt very morose :D apart from that, twas a lovely and pleasant episode as always :) also, the actual circumstances of how the villagers died reminded me of a video Tom Scott did on The Strid in yorkshire kzread.info/dash/bejne/n3eHt8-wgJOYhJs.html - it seems the way aquafer generated in relation to the river inadvertedly mirrored a real life geographical phenomena!

Agreed. This is one of the reasons I made fencing in the village a priority when I found mine, since it had a hazardous ravine running next to it; and I also filled in the entrances to a couple of caves I found within its borders. The ravine and caves (also some nearby underwater caves) may make for interesting exploration later on, but that’s not a job I would entrust to villagers!

I also didn't know about this. I know about the console, as I am actually an admin on one and I have access to the console, I saw messages like this occasionally in the console output, and it does indeed provide useful information. I just didn't know that the same console logs are kept for the single player worlds as well, despite the fact I know single player worlds are hosted on a localhost server (which is a reason why it's possible to open them for LAN access). So I guess these messages are even more important than I thought and if someone on a server is asking what happened to their villager, why it disappeared, it might be a good idea to look inside the logs to find the specific death message and an exact death location. Really informative, indeed.

When I found a village, before I do ANY trading at all. The first thing I did was survey the environment at least 60 squares around the center, fix holes, extinct lava lake, torch up the entire area, including inside of their houses, and torch up all flat roofs. Safety is my number one priority. I usually have to spend at least several minecraft days to do all that. A lot of time I have to modify their houses so that there will be no traffic jam. Finally, I begin trading with them, once I have built enough houses with enough beds and don't want to grow the population anymore, I would protect the whole village with fence. I never kill any golem. When there are too many golems, I would leash them outside the fence and they would patrol around (I just leave a few golems inside the fenced area). They never wander off, in fact, they always hang out near the fence. This way, whenever I start a raid, they are already there ready to fight. It doesn't matter which direction the bad guys come from, there will always be golems fight them off.

Glad to see the village being left intact instead of the usual villager gulag being created for a trading hall. With the focus on discounts from gossips, maybe we will see a resurgence of 'natural' villages with free range traders. A few less player-operated villager prisons on servers and in let's play videos would be a nice variety.

I only built a wall around my village so hostile mobs dont bother me and for raid defense. Otherwise, my villagers are just free to do whatever they want (i spammed torches everywhere and close off the caves with iron doors) Im on bedrock, and theres a bug where zombie villagers made from a spawner give discounts to villagers nearby. Exploit that, give them all houses and workstations and such, profit. Also gave them a mini farm so if one dies, they can just immediately make a new, uh *ahem* baby Never bothered with the whole trading hall thing. Too bothersome for it, and I dont really need the “organization” it offers. Plus discounts are handled by the zombie spawner bug and I don’t want to be inhumane; I like the non villager prison stuff better anyways Just my take on villager rights, sry if this was long lol

For peeps who are doing the whole zombie villager thing for the first time, there are two tricks I like to use. First, if you can find a zombie that will pick up items, they can be given a helmet and a sword. The helmet will prevent them burning in the sun, and the sword will let them kill (I.e. zombify) villagers faster. You can even give them enchanted stuff to make it even faster. Second, I like to use husks (desert zombies) if I can. These guys don’t burn in sunlight even without a helmet, so they’re a lot easier to transport even if you can’t find one that will accept items.

  • @Marialla.

I’ve done some looking into zombifying villagers for lower prices. Most things can be lowered to 1, but some only to 7. I ran a spreadsheet of all trades to see which ones could be maxed out. I’m still mid-video, so I’m not sure if covered already, but there is a limit of 5 times you can do this per villager. Also, best two trade combos you can do for infinite emerald: bookshelves, broken to books; and glass, crafted to glass panes. PS: I always name my zombies for this process “Price Negotiator”

You were correct about the zombie not wanting to attack the villager due to it having targeted you, it is however not necessary to run away for it to loose its interrest in you, you only need to block its line of sight to you, so standing behind a wall is sufficient (can be made of glass or iron bars too).

I would enjoy a couple episodes dedicated to building tips for a village as you make a nice little setup for them. Not say trap them in one block spots yet, but sort out the bed situation, maybe talk about ways to put a wall or wall-less ways to trap them inside a safe area so you don't have to worry about night time sort of thing.

I really really enjoyed this episode, so Informative, Thank You very much, I a specially liked the info you shared that explained what happens the the villagers who died. That was fascinating and Interesting, I’m on Bedrock so I can assume there is no way of finding out about things like you did on your Minecraft world of Java. Thank You nonetheless.

I saw a vilager trading hall design recently. Just dig 3 blocks down and place the work station with a trapdoor on top, the villager will drop into the hole and then you can make an underground villager trading hall. Also mobs won't be able to bite the head of the villagers so no problem of them being converted

In Java Edition, they spread your positive reputation around as 'gossip' during meeting times at the beginning and end of the day. There's no reason to cure them in view of the other villagers on Java. In fact it's more dangerous, since the villagers might react to the presence of a zombie villager by spawning an iron golem to defend them.

You've inspired me to write a creepypasta :p Your village is suffering from a zombie plague. Maybe. It only seems to affect one person at a time, and they always come back with stories about the wonderful doctor who saved them. One night unseen hands bundle you into a cart and roll you away across the river. As the cart slows, you see the zombie... but only the one, and it appears to be looking out a window. The last thing you see is the smiling face of the stranger who visits the market every day.

I'm trying to put together plans now for a wizards house on top of a tall/narrow mountain with a water elevator at the bottom that goes up to a summoning circle that you appear in the center of. The magical mountaintop connects to five surrounding floating earth motes via mystical force magic (Glass Bridges). Each of the earthmote floating islands will have outbuildings and structures associated with them. But the idea for the earthmotes is they were torn from the ground below. The bottom sides of them are going to be covered in things like raw iron, raw EMERALDS, amethyst geode bits, etc. And below them, small craters in the ground from where they tore themselves up into the air. Thats the idea anyway. Hoping it turns out well. I thought about you when the emeralds popped into my head heh.
