Shipwrecks, Ocean Ruins & Treasure! ▫ Minecraft Survival Guide (1.18 Tutorial Let's Play) [S2 E36]

Ойындар

The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 2 continues. Today we go out in search of buried treasure!
This tutorial will show you where to find buried treasure maps, and how to find buried treasure using both the maps and your relative chunk coordinates! We claim our first Heart of the Sea, and craft it into a Conduit, but we'll need more resources before we can use it.
We also explore how dolphins can lead us to Shipwrecks and Ocean Ruins, and the loot we can find in each one. We stumble upon a swamp and talk about what to look for while you're there. We even take our first look (from a safe distance) at an Ocean Monument!
Season 2 world seed (Java Edition only): -3821426255058016680
Season 2 of the Minecraft Survival Guide will teach you how to master Survival Mode in Minecraft 1.18 and beyond!

When feeding dolphins, bear in mind that they will point you to the nearest chest, so when you're done raiding a chest, break it to be sure the dolphin doesn't lead you to the same one/s again.

I saw that sandstone 'ribcage' ruin structure on the surface of one of my worlds while playing modded in 1.14, and I thought it was a structure provided by a mod; I didn't know that it was one of the types of ocean ruins that vanilla Minecraft added. They must be rare, because this is the first time I've ever seen a sandstone structure like that in anyone's playthrough of the game.

People mostly ignore ocean ruins because the loot isn’t all that great, aside from buried treasure maps, and they’re harder to loot than shipwrecks because of all the Drowned. In this series though, we leave no stone unturned.

If your also exploring and find a shipwreck with minimal or no damage, and it's on land, they do actually make great bases if you're crafty enough. Add some doors, maybe some windows or trap doors, some lighting, make a set of sails out of wool blocks, and you can have an awesome little pirate themed base! 👍

Possibly a minor correction - I am almost 100% certain that the drowned that generate in ocean ruins have the PersistenceRequired NBT tag and thus do not despawn due to distance from a player. I know I've completely left and come back to find them later. Was hoping I'd find some reference to back this up but nothing so far. It's the case for pretty much all mobs that spawn as part of a structure at world gen (elder guardians, woodland mansion illagers, etc).

On the contrary - you can easily buy glowstone blocks from cleric villagers. It’s great to have multiple ways of getting stuff, but unless you have more than 1 witch hut within range of each other, the farm is much slower than trading redstone and glowstone from a handful of cleric villagers. The only advantage is that you can AFK at the witch farm, which is good, but I don’t like to AFK that much in my world.

The most efficient way to loot burried treasure chests is to open chunkbase since it gives the exact coordinates. I only do this because bedrock doesn't have a debug screen to show position within a chunk and i got so tired of digging up entire beaches looking for them. This also reveals just how common they are relative to what the intended path would have you believe.

There needs to be two catargories of modding, really. The one type is only graphical mods like Optifine and Iris (and resource packs, really), that change the appearance of the game, and not the gameplay at all..call it Vanilla+, maybe? The other would be the actual 'modded Minecraft' that add features/utilities, and/or change gameplay elements from the vanilla game. Edit: On second thought, there needs to be three catagories: The graphical/audio-only enhancement kind, maybe better described as Enhanced Vanilla, the one that *just* adds utility features like HUDs, minimaps, and the item catalogs (Too Many Items and the like..though that's kinda replaced by the in-game listing, these days), and the third being truly modded minecraft that adds biomes/creatures/new blocks, changing the rules of the game.

the only thing I hate about treasure hunting is if you combine it with a place like Chunkbase that has stuff to find treasures you find that there may be like 4 treasures in range of where you find the maps but even if you break out the chest after you find it it still won't point out the next closest chest (even if it did generate) so you end up missing out with out the outside help of said sites. As for swamps I have noticed since 1.18 that the seeds tend to make them generate with way more land then they used to, not sure if this is enough of a relative sample or not but in 5 out of 10 of my worlds I regened in 1.18 the swamp land that had been large lakes and a few trees are now high hills with little water in the other 5 I couldn't even easily find swamps to compare with a before (in those there had been no swamp close by (under 2000 blocks) originally too)

I don’t think they are that close to each other. Maybe if you ramp up the render and simulation distance and afk in the middle somewhere. That sounds like a lag fest to happen, though as guardian farms are very lag intensive

@@h1man5hu99 yeah, I looked it up and spawning radius is separate from render/simulation distance. If a larger sphere is rendered mobs still despawn 128 blocks out. The reverse works, though. By reducing render distance you can raise a mob farm’s efficiency I think. Because no mobs spawn further out filling your mob cap.

    2 жыл бұрын

I don’t know much about it, but from what I’ve heard, hostile mob spawning in Bedrock Edition isn’t affected by height. It’s likely that more mob spawning attempts are failing because the creeper farm has reduced headroom (assuming that’s how you’ve built it) so the game doesn’t spawn as many mobs as it would do in an open area.
