I personally like to dip my old wraps and vanes in hot water. It allows me to peel them off without using a knife so I don’t risk damaging the carbon. Great video!

Use a potato peeler to strip your arrows. Give it a try you’ll see for yourself. Now you need to take vane off first like you seen the legend here doing. But that potato peeler wont scrape any carbon like a knife can. Then use a scotch bright pad then your favorite cleaner. You know you have it clean when the shaft squeaks when rubbing it with a paper towel with your favorite cleaner on. One other quick tip. after you put glue on the vane thats in the clamp. have a piece of paper laying there on the table. take the vane in the clamp with glue on and lightly press it on the paper. It presses all glue evenly on the vane and the paper pulls off any excess glue that you don’t realize you have. Makes a Very clean and precise no runs glue job.

A potato peeler works well to remove fletching residue from a shaft and doesn't damage the shaft. Hope this helps someone.

Great job JD. Just purchased a few Easton axis and just waiting on inserts to build them. I fletch arrows on the side for my cousin shop and I do that so I can tinker around with my set up and what works best, so I would like to say thank you for helping me become better at that job. Keep up the great work

I’m starting to have issues with even spacing when I 4 fletch with the bitzenburger. Any advice or something I need to check? I’m a little OCD when it comes to my arrows. Thank you for all you teach us diy’s.

Curious as to why you didn't clean the wraps off with the ase max wipes prior to applying the vanes.

I use the method by heating the blade, then I scrap to remove the plastic vanes, then apply a little acetone to remove the plastic vanes residue and glue residue on the shaft...

Alrighty, I need to know what black magic you used to get the wraps off of your fingers and onto the mat. Every time I peel my wraps, I have to play with them because a micro-meter of the sticky side gets stuck to me.

Hi, I watch alot of your KZread videos. I'm a left handed target shooter and have a left eye dominated eye. I was seeing most targets blurry.I have just been told my left has a cataract on it. So now I'm trying out being left handed and right eye dominated. Its very strange but I'm getting there. Do u know of any shooters that are the same on KZread so I can hopefully get some tips off them? Thank u for reading my message and I hope you are able to help me out. Cheers Donna from Queensland Australia. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello I had the same issue just on the right side except for the cataract but I keep both eyes open and I focus on my pins and its uncomfortable at first but you get used to it and now it's second nature and now instead of focusing on one target I can see the target and everything else around and it has helped me quite a bit

When you use a knife to scrape the old vinyl off, I realize you aern’t putting much pressure. But are you shaving any amount at all of carbon off the arrow? Would it still weigh exactly the same afterwards

  • @chadk3573

I wouldn't. They split or break and glued in makes it hard to remove. If you get a lose one, put a plastic bag over the end of the arrow and just push the nock through it as you install it.
