I wanted to talk a little about arrow wraps vs not having any arrow wraps and what I have found to be beneficial between the two! So here is my two cents about arrow wraps vs bare shaft for your arrow building!

It's so much easier to find an arrow that's wrapped. I tried the heat shrinks but they crack and break as your arrow flexes. My wife has a vynl cutter so I take a 1.50 sheet of vynl and make like 10-12 wraps per sheet. Love them

I use wraps. But not for glueing on my vanes but more for the aesthetics. So the wraps arent wrapped around the area of the shaft where the vanes are placed but rather infront or after the vanes.

I started using Bohning wraps a few years back.! I can heat up the wrap with the wife's hair dryer and peel the wrap off rather easily which keeps me from scraping the carbon on the bare shafts when removing fletchings.

Awesome job again! Going back to the last video with the Easton tips.... have you used or seen the arrow prep tool kit I think they are 22.99 on Easton's website and help clean the inside if the shaft for better adhesion👍🏼

There are some on ebay and amazon that are shrink wrap. Like the nap but without vanes. Just wraps. I think they will weight less than standard wraps and come off easier

Onestringer makes great wraps. Add the double doggs coating (looks better with glue).

I've never shot without them. I think its cleaner with one on. Last two years I went with a long 7" wrap, lots of visibility. Going back to a 4" this year.

I don’t use wraps. With bows becoming so much more efficient and arrows match weighted then I go put a wrap on that cannot be as precise I feel like I’m running all the technology that has gone into my setup. Plus the wrap will cover any crack or issue caused by a shot. If you miss that and go shooting an arrow with a crack and shatter it causing a dry fire then you’re up a creek with a much bigger issue than FOC or cosmetic arrow bling.

Been using wraps past 5 years. I like them due to the fact if I mess one vane up, I re-fletch the entire arrow and maintain a level of precision. It's also easier and cleaner to re-fletch, plus the majority of my wraps are white, which is great showing the tone or blood. I like to spend a few extra $$ and order custom wraps online.

So aside from style would there be any advantage to using wraps on a aluminum shaft?

There are definite advantages. Depending on the color, they make the arrows way more visible in the woods, the glue for your vanes doesn’t actually touch the shaft so no scraping the glue off of your carbon or aluminum when it’s time to re-fletch, they do add a personal touch to your arrows so yes it adds style, and you can easily number your arrows with a sharpie if that’s something you do. In my opinion the only disadvantage that some may say is that it adds weight to the back of your arrow which is true but that’s easily evened out if you can do math and go to a heavier broadhead. As an example - I am running 27” Easton Axis LR 250’s with a 125gr broadhead, 6” wrap (10gr), 2” blazer vanes (18gr), Nockturnal lighted nock (15gr) and my total arrow weight is 477gr with 15% FOC. I only have a 27.5” draw and I’m flying at 296fos out of my Hoyt RX7 with 88ft/lbs of kinetic energy and .612 slug/ft of momentum. My arrows fly like lasers and shouldn’t have any issue with complete pass through on any animal on the continent. A lot of people just don’t take the time to nerd out on this stuff and build an arrow specifically for their needs.

Wraps are way, way, way, way over priced. Go online and buy vinyl sheets a dollar for a 12 x 12 sheet and cut your own. Tone of different colors, reflective, glitter, camo. Cut them your self.
