Arrow Wraps.........Why????
Спорт
Why use arrow wraps? Do they serve a purpose? I think I'll be using them moving forward solely because they make it easier to replace vanes. More expensive but worth it in my opinion.

Hello. I use wraps because when the wrap is removed you have a perfect shaft underneath for re-fletching. Also supposedly the glue bonds to the wrap better than an arrow shaft, (particularly Aluminium). Instead of using a hairdryer I boil the kettle and pour hot water into a mug, pop the back end of the arrow into the water for maybe 5 to 10 seconds, remove and you are able are able to quickly unwrap the whole thing in one, or maybe giving it a second dip if necessary👍😀.

Thanks for the tip. Will have to try that next time!
I like using wraps, specifically White Water Archery wraps. I use them because as you showed in your video they’re definitely easier to take off compared to fletching straight to the carbon. Hair dryer or a heat gun will work for sure, I usually just boil some water and give them a dunk. Another reason for using them is to aid in arrow recovery as I use reflective wraps on my builds. This also aids in seeing your shots easier on target and on animals.

Good stuff, thanks for the feedback! Next time I'll try the boiling water and I'll look those wraps up too, I like the idea of them being reflective.
I've found fletching adheres far better to the wrap than it ever did to aluminum shafts. And surprisingly, feathers hold up better than vanes, especially after going through a target.
One trick I have found for removing glue on an arrow shaft is a potato peeler. Works amazing and you never have to worry about damaging your arrow with a knife or razor blade. That being said i just switched over to using wraps. I have found I lose less fletchings using them as opposed to gluing fletchings right onto arrow shafts. Great video!

Thank you! I'll try the potato peeler, I have some arrows without wraps that need fixed. Appreciate the feedback.
Well u can use high vis reflective wraps for fishing poles at night fishing on bottom
i tried some boil on wraps, way easier to take off. i did wraps once and said never again. it just for looks and helps read blood on arrow if hunting.
Thanks for video. Depending on color used, wraps can help identify type of blood/vitals hit. Can also counter high FOC and add stiffness to spine if needed.

Thanks for the feedback!
I prefer using wraps, I like the look of wraps, I seem to be able to see the arrow better in flight with a wrap, easier to find after a pass through, and I like how easy they are to remove and how well vanes adhere to them. I use a heat gun for maybe 10 seconds while rotating the shaft, then just peel off in 1 piece. Takes about 30 seconds. You can also use the heat gun or hot water to fix a wrap.
Get an actual heat gun and some plastic razor blades. No scraping carbon with metal. It adds 6 grains to the TAW, better visibility, easier to remove the vanes and a little acetone gets rid of the remaining adhesive.
I use a white arrow wrap for my sight tape. Put it on the rail and make my own yardage markers. I do not use them on my arrows and I am constantly fletching/refletching. I don’t use superglue type adhesive. A more flexible bond like Saunders NPV will keep vanes stuck where they need to and comes off a lot easier.

I might have to try the Saunders NPV.
I have run both wraps and no wraps I prefer no wraps you should try using a potato peeler it removes the vanes and glue extremely fast and I’ve never had that damage the carbon 🤷🏻♂️

I've got a few without wraps to fix so I'll try that.
Next time try a potato pillar, it works awesome
getting chunks of super glue and fletchtite off shafts is way fuckin worse than removing wraps
