How to STREET SKATE in ROLLER SKATES: Stagger your FEET
Throbbs from MQ breaks down how to START your street skating journey. In this first video of MQ’s Hong Kong street series, she shares the MOST important strategy to keep your balance among the pedestrians, trams, cars, and over the trickiest surfaces. Great tips for ALL levels, especially beginners! Staggering! Get this fundamental down, and with it, learn a trick to pop in your bag.
Thanks so much to the amazing team at FlowState media for helping with the production of the video.
We would also like to thank Caroline Lewington for the amazing graphics!

Thanks for this comment, this is exactly the type of vibe we want to create!
Thanks for the tutorial! For some reason i thought my feet had to be in a single line when staggering. Can't wait to practice going over bumps and soon, a curb!
Oh love this! Thanks for the tip Throbbs, looking forward to the next one
omg I can't even IMAGINE skating in hong kong with all the crazy random cobblestones and hills! What neighborhoods do you typically hit?

Good idea for a future video, thanks! 😻
What camera do you use? Wonderful framing!
Those are some really cool shots of Hong Kong!
but how do you keep momentum with your feet staggered? Where is the weight? Balanced between the legs or held on one?

Hello. With the stagger stance it is more for when you are rolling, after the push aways for speed and momentum. Your weight is usually on the back leg (70%, and 30% front leg). The front leg should be able to quickly lift the toe to avoid major bumps. The idea is mostly to just extend your wheel base. you can see in the video Throbbs will get some momentum, stagger over rough surfaces, and then get momentum again. The scary part is the speed for sure, but the more you practice, the easier and more intuitive it gets.
Great tips and advice. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comment!
We have a paved core tail along a river in the mountains (Steamboat Springs, CO). It's Not Flat. There are small rolling hills all along. Do I just stagger down? I just ordered padded shorts! Ha! That last tailbone hit was a doozie! Im 52 & ready to roll😃

Thanks for watching!
Hello. So I want to get back into street skating and I’m trying to find the right skates for wide feet. I’m a women’s size 7. Would it matter what style I need, ie. High or low and do I need a custom for skate. I also would like to purchase a lasting sturdy skate. Thanks.

Usually you'll find high heeled boots tend to come with a narrower toe box. so you may have more suitable options with a low/medium boot. quality boots/parts tend to cost more and the stiffness will impact the wear in time, but if you're looking to get back into skating, you shouldn't need anything too extreme to start with.
great! I'm looking for videos roller skating in Hong Kong but not inline skate!
