Hi there! I'am learning to skate again. I am a 50 year old woman and I haven't skate for 40 years, now I'm doing it with my 6yo daughter. Oh gosh, I forgot how fun it was. I only knew how to skate forward and then stop with a wall or a streetlamp, hahaha. Now I'm learning going backwards and new tricks. Thanks for your advices and keep rockin'. Greeting from Spain ❤

I didn't quite realize it, but I leaned into freestyle skating as an early skater. I wanted to have enough moves that I could jam and flow from one move to the next without knowing ahead of time where it was gonna go. It felt like the threshold for me was having a solid 5 moves under my belt so that I didn't feel so constrained in my choices. But then jamming to the music, learning the beat, and being confident in my physicality all came into play to bring me into the flow state.

Super cool what you do! I wish skating was more normalized in public places so you aren't constantly thinking you are breaking rules or not allowed. Especially public parks. Thank you for your lessons and kudos to making this a business for yourself 🤘

You mentioned getting kicked out of places 😂. The threat is real. If you’re trying to get your rhythm roll on people either 🤗😁 or 😤. There’s no in between lol. This is a great video and good on you for getting real about people not having rhythm. A lot of people want to hear top 40 their ears like but is terrible or difficult to skate to because the bpm is often too fast. I like the JBs or something else in that bpm range because it’s much friendlier to step to in skates at least when you’re learning.

This video is great! But for me one of my biggest struggles is finding a list of the “basics” for me to start with, and in which order to learn those basics/moves/tricks. I used to inline skate but recently decided to transition to roller skates for dance skating and cruising. I could go fast on my inlines and had balance, but never learned to go backwards or transitions. If you could link or just maybe comment a list of things to learn and in what order that would be super helpful!!

Good video. You should also mention in a future video, when skating to music, be open to ALL styles of music. Too many get caught up to only one form of music to skate to and just indoctrinates them to move only one way. Different types of music open your mind up creatively, helping the skater move in new ways, improving their performance, ability, and style.

Very helpful! I've always just did basic roller skating around the neighborhood for fun as a kid and young adult but really wanted to expand into rhythm skating. There's a lot of overwhelming INFO out there , but I find yours simple to follow and understand. Thanks for sharing. Love It!!🤎🤎🤎
Thank you for making these.
Went skating last night with my Daughter. She is 32 and I am 62! We did a night skate and I still have it ; )
THAAAANKYOU soo much! It's TRUE that u need basic to get to mastery!
I tought my kids basics in my 20’s and stopped…I just turn 50 …Excited to get back in the rink and teach my grand babies now😂
I'm happy to say I've been to the workshop event he hosted at a rink in the NWA area and there's some great moves he teaches! He's an easy to understand and patient teacher, I'm happy I learned with one of the best!
This 17 minutes could've been a 6 minute video. I don't know jack and I'm trying to learn
this is very helpful thank you! i'm still not comfy removing my toe stops so i still can't do dribbles. maybe soon!!!
Excellent !
I'm getting back into it I'm a drummer so music is my specialty.
Thanks so much!🙌🏾

You’re very welcome
Awesome advice!
Super cool what you do! I wish skating was more normalized in public places so you aren't constantly thinking you are breaking rules or not allowed. Especially public parks. Saint Louis had a whole rocky situation in trying to get the right to skate on a public rink in the summer. Let the skates roll freeeee! Thank you for your lessons and kudos to making this a business for yourself 🤘
Would love to see you talk about wheels
You mentioned getting kicked out of places 😂. The threat is real. If you’re trying to get your rhythm roll on people either 🤗😁 or 😤. There’s no in between lol. This is a great video and good on you for getting real about people not having rhythm. A lot of people want to hear top 40 their ears like but is terrible or difficult to skate to because the bpm is often too fast. I like the JBs or something else in that bpm range because it’s much friendlier to step to in skates at least when you’re learning.
Not sure I should have subbed yet... My foundation is trying not to fall down when standing still....lol
Please do a video on crossing behind and its variants the step back, the walk step, etc. You touched on it in your downtown video. That crossing behind is something different lol
New Subie! Thank you so much for the advice and tips! 🙌🙌
Awesome Tks ❤
Love the advice. Question as a beginner skater, I know how to just skate around the rink, push off and turn, stop… the super basics. Lol. In your opinion, what move(s) should be learned next?
Trying to teach My kids to skate. Two boys, 17, and 9 and my daughter 7. She's almost got it but my are having a rough go. Thanks a lot.
Love the advice! Weirdly I'm struggling with making my dribbles look smooth and fluid but progressing fast with crazy legs despite it, I wonder why
What’s another good video anyone for beginners? I can’t do this one too much talking.
Thank you for this video !
what are your skates? They look great! Thanks for the videos!
Can you break out your video into skill levels? Basics, advanced, etc?
Hope your vids get more likes fam these are dope
This video is great! But for me one of my biggest struggles is finding a list of the “basics” for me to start with, and in which order to learn those basics/moves/tricks. I used to inline skate but recently decided to transition to roller skates for dance skating and cruising. I could go fast on my inlines and had balance, but never learned to go backwards or transitions. If you could link or just maybe comment a list of things to learn and in what order that would be super helpful!!
This is great thank you
Thanks for posting
Really nice video and explanations bro
Thank for the informative video!💪
This advice is bomb
Nice thank you so much!!!
New here, wishing you didn't talk so much, would you please do more moves as apposed to getting into your life story? 😆 I'm teasing, your great, I'm bingeing your vids
How do you do these moves whilst moving forward? Are some of them non-rink adaptable?
I been jam skating again started back up after over 25 years off. I am 41 now and couple weeks ago fell skating backwards and spinning. Thought I broke my hip but just a really bad groin pull. Any good tips for falling for older folks looking to jam skate or help and guidance. Much love from Wisconsin
Hello, love the videos. I'm not a beginner skater. When I skate backwards I have to stop before I turn around and continue skating on beat. Can u post a video that can help me learn this maneuver. Thank you.
Hey are u able to do a video on some of your fave stops. My skater friends tell me off for using stoppers so I want to learn how to stop without using them
Class is in session; yaaas; west side of Motown checking in!!!
Wow. You were at 18k when u did this video. Now you are at 42.5k. Thank you so much for this video.
I would love to get back to skating great for you hips. Pelvis, ankles, knees and balance.
Good good advice - also not gonna front - what was name of track you played? 👀
Hi there man I saw this video after looking up inline skating and sense I am a ice hockey player of 9 years do you have any tips for ice hockey skaters going to inline or just normal roller skates
What's the best skates/wheels/barings for jam skating? I've been rollerblading for most of my life but I want to learn to do what you do, and smoothly as you do. Sorry if this has been asked before!!!
Thanks!

Thank you! 🙌🏽
I quite like that you’re allowing us to get to know you. I clicked on your video cos I like that you chat. If I want ‘instructions only’ without sociability there are lots and LOTS of other videos. I’m a mature beginner. Thank you for your process. I’m also a Performer and would love to transfer my style to wheels! I would be ecstatically happy!! 🎉
Good video. You should also mention in a future video, when skating to music, be open to ALL styles of music. Too many get caught up to only one form of music to skate to and just indoctrinates them to move only one way. Different types of music open your mind up creatively, helping the skater move in new ways, improving their performance, ability, and style.
pedestrian has the righter way CORRECT
"most of yall dont have rythm"🤣🤣🤣🤣
Marcus Rogers thank you
hi, I'm writing from Italy, so I will use G.translate, sorry for any errors.. I wanted to ask you if you have already made a video where you explain how to adjust the skates for better directionality of the wheels, which bolt to unscrew? The cushions sometimes have two, do you need to work on both bolts? THANKS
What skates do you have or recommend?
What city & state are you looking for a permanent spot?
fire, ty
what brand of skates do you recommend?
BRo!!!!! this was smooth as silk!!! @ 8:53
