Skating outdoors is terrifying! I'm in the UK and our pavements are full of potholes, weeds and dogsh*t. I have been really struggling to find somewhere nice and flat. Our street is lovely and quiet, but it's very bumpy and has a lot of inclines. I'm going to keep trying it though. I'm not confident at stopping quickly but I really think watching this video will help as I've also been using the indoor skating method, so probably have been making things harder for myself. Thanks Deb!

As a kid I always skated at my school with my friends. Now as an adult trying to learn again, schools are still a good place to go: open flat pavement for playground games means smoother going for my skates. If you can find an outdoor basketball or tennis court in a park, that works, too. Just be sure to leave if someone comes wanting to use it for its real purpose.

As skating again increases in popularity and How To videos are becoming more available, you are STILL the only one touching the right points... without any kind of self idolisation or vanity. I've watched a number of outdoor skating videos and you are the only one who has talked about weight being on the back foot and skating by going "down with the butt, up with the gut". So great Debbie, I love the way you teach... thank you! Really connecting with your outdoor content, as rinks are still closed here in Melbourne Australia and outdoor is the only option!

Hello Dirty Deborah Harry! Greetings from Bulgaria (a country in Southeast Europe). I love the way you say your name at the beginning of each video - it sounds like some kind of mantra, it’s very euphonious. I got my skates three weeks ago and I had to wait one week to the snow to melt so I can finally try them. Here in my country there is no such huge culture of roller skating as in America. We don’t even have roller skate rinks (only ice rinks). Also our streets are mainly constructed by cracks, holes and any kind of bumps. At least some park alleys are fine. But all of this can not stop me from skating, so enough of it. While I was waiting the snow to go away, I started to watch your videos. And I want to tell you - THANK YOU, Dirty Deborah Harry! Thank you for being so great and passionate teacher!
