We’re going to build a stone cabin with a Cat 306… I have been racking my brain for a while on how to place large rocks with precision and I want to thank you for this video… super helpful!

Great video showing all the different straps and methods! That's some mega boulder pond building going on there at end of the video! We have access here in Ottawa-Gatineau, 🇨🇦 to some really neat Canadian Shield Granite boulders with amazing coloration!😉

Thank you so much for making this video! Can I ask what exactly do you mean when you say "the eye" is that where the looped strap tightens together? Or is that the part of the rock you want facing a particular direction? Also, when talking about straps, can you explain what a choker is? Thank you!!

Nice video. My only suggestion is that you talk about breaking straps. That strap breaking at your artists of the years build at Pondo was intense and flung grit and debris at bystanders. Of course Alan barely flinched (if at all, lol). Also, when do you take a strap out of service? I have a few raggedy straps I should probably toss, but I save them for smaller rocks when all my other straps are in use. Maybe strapping material bags would be good to show too. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and beautiful work!

I’ve moved a lot of boulders and ruined my share of expensive slings before changing over to chain slings. Use a 100 grade chain with a couple 100g connectors and it will last forever. You will also be within industrial standards for overhead lifting.

Get what your saying but rubber liners and chains don’t mix Over 30 yrs doing this and would much rather use straps

@@deckerspondscapes9291 Yes, I replayed the video and looked closer at the final placement. That rubber sheeting wouldn't work well with chained boulders.

Hey guys! I’m 60 year old lady. My Grandmother’s house was made out of large rocks. They tore it down and I would love to have a few in my yard to preserve my memories. I can’t figure out how to get them off the ground and in my pickup truck. They aren’t as big as your boulders. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

I thought they were hoist straps. Towing straps don't hold enough weight or are only safe for dragging. And recovery straps are stretchy and springy and not meant for either.

This video was very helpful. I find that the combination of my thumb expansion and claw work really well for single-handedly moving rocks of the size shown in your video. I also prefer to use my three directional lifting receiver instead of a bucket hook for strap-based lifting (as shown in this video). kzread.info/dash/bejne/lK1_xqaIh8azkrg.html
