How to Stop Creating Suffering | Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle offers practical advice on using unhappiness as a signal to return to presence and awareness. He explains that recognizing moments of unhappiness as indicators of lost presence can help individuals shift their focus back to the present moment, stopping the cycle of suffering. Eckhart Tolle emphasizes the importance of mindfulness, observing the mind, and questioning the validity of mental narratives to disengage from harmful thought patterns. By understanding and transforming one's mental processes, individuals can reduce suffering and live more harmoniously with the present moment.

I have a new line, when my brain goes into worry loops. I ask myself "What IF I didn't worry?" That then pulls me out of the loop and into the present moment. So much relief!

After 62 years of marriage, my husband and I divorced by mutual consent. The divorce went smoothly, as did the sale of the house and the division of common property. We shared everything half and half. My husband is going to another country and I am going to a nice little house in the village. I think it's the best thing that ever happened to me. I am vigilant that my mind does not lead me into destruction. Suffering. But if I'm already seduced, I pick it up fairly quickly, or come to my senses. Dear Echart, thank you for being my best teacher.

woah!!, yikes,i had no idea there are human beings concerned with this type of stuff, actually letting it affect them. how small could a life be that something like this would cause a person to be “upset the whole evening”? if that’s a problem worth giving that much attention to, what happens if something real and meaningful comes along, could a person like this even recognize or deal with it? what about things that actually matter? REAL things. i am utterly shocked that someone is wasting their energy like this. makes me really really grateful for my intelligence and knowledge of what life actually has to offer. this comment gave me a boost of confidence because im not a NPC like many obviously are. wow. get off whatsapp and all social media immediately. what you consider problems will begin to dissolve right away

0:55 Millions manifest sufferings. Your unconscious mind manifests suffering. Bring attention to the present moment. What’s wrong with this moment? Nothing. Stop suffering first, then you can manifest others. From the foundation of being, you manifest others. Reconcile being and doing. That’s your purpose. Suffering tells you that you have lost the present moment. Once you know that, you can come back. Thanks Eckhart. 25 April 2024. 🍀😆🍀😆🤩💖👍🏻👍🏻🥂

Practice looking around your surroundings and deliberately choose to focus your attention on the space(the air) of the room instead of the objects and as you do so attempt to empty your mind from any thoughts. You can use a timer. Begin with 1 min. Then set it to 2, 3, 5. As you feel better attempt more. This grounds you and makea you feel peace. Everytime I get anxious, the difficult part is remembering to use it, but if you use it you will feel much better. You know when it works because you will feel prone to simply smile as you can sense joy and calm. Initially it may take a while to empty thoughts for more than a minute, so you may even begin noticing 15 seconds and expand little by little as you become aware you are improving. Practice, practice, practice.

Maybe knowing and truly accepting the thoughts that trouble you are not really your thoughts, they are not even really about you. If it's the mind that produces the fearful and anxious thoughts then surely it the mind and not you that is in truth fearful and anxious. Let the mind do it's own thing while you do your own thing and all will be more than well 🙏🙏🙏🙏

The one thing most don’t yet use in their favor and in the favor of others is the power of language. Mr. Eckart is assuming that people are suffering and giving suggestions to people that this is what will happen to them. Instead of “When it arises”, maybe a better suggestion would be “IF”, giving the person who is unaware of such suggestions the choice that there is a possibility in which suffering never arises.

Take a sheet of paper and title it "The most powerful questions for shifting your attention towards positive outcomes" and in it include questions like: 1. What is the beat thing that can happen today? 2. What are the best things that can happen this week(month, quarter, year, lifetime)? (Also you can narrow it down to life categories) 3. What can I do right now to immediately feel joyful, peaceful, happy, abundant, etc.? Have that sheet of paper handy in a visible place, and use it to redirect you focus or capture new questions. Change location every now and then so you dont give it for granted and stop noticing it. The idea is that you use it as a tool to quickly change your mental emotional state. It only can help you if you get started. Knowledge is not power, applied knowledge is. Good luck my friend.

Thank you! 🙏 But when we don't blame the others, but our past self-ego which made the same mistake and should be more careful and should have listened the instinct which was right, then what does it mean? That we are conscious? For example: our past non conscious self chose the wrong person although inside us we knew that this person is not for us and after a month we broke up with this person. But now, the current self after a trigger, blamed the past self: "it doesn't matter that you broke up early with this person. You should knew better after your experience and should have never get involved whith this person ". That blame to our past self, means that we are half conscious? and still not living in the present?. Thank so much for every speach !

As people the word suffering often leads to misunderstanding confusing it with hardship or something similar, and ain't exactly true. But the standard definitions are following bad situation or feeling small. So if you discern it you realise no more put inside inadequate places. Therefore removed from cloud continue to preach or speak about your own demand

All stories we tell ourselves that include victims and judgement of others must result in self inflicted suffering. We too often confuse not worrying and thinking with not caring but this is not the truth, we can care very much about situations and other people but only if we actually physically doing something about a situation can we influence it, all else is unnecessary and totally purposeless self inflicted suffering 🙏🙏🙏🙏

All you need to know is what's said in the first 5 seconds of the video ❤

What if the now is always the same, worry or not. There is nothing that changes. It’s always the same now. I am starting to understand that even anchoring myself in the present moment to ignore where I am headed is an illusion. We are part of the whole and so, it is not only our mind that creates suffering. It is closely attached to our outer world and its dynamic.

How do I get past the intense grief I feel at the passing of my very much loved and best friend Charlie who was my fur baby. He was my heart. I feel so empty without his presence. I miss him so much!

You will see Charlie again one day. He’s waiting on the rainbow bridge. I promise you, your friendship will never end and the way you speak about your dog, I can only imagine how great and thankful a life that dog lived. Love you, stay strong

I agree with this statement apart from child abuse. How does that work?

I'd say ancestral/generational trauma transferred into/onto the child's unconcious belief system
