3 tbs of honey & 3 tbs of apple cider vinegar & 6-8 ozs of water works too. You can sip it as often as you want & it doesn't interfere with ant medication you're taking. I had pneumonia years ago & a very nice elderly friend told me about this & it worked.

Thanks for your recipe! In fact, there are some studies that prove that honey and apple cider vinegar help treat colds, rhinitis, allergies, and positively affect the immune system. So if you are not allergic to honey, then this is quite a good way to help yourself recover.

I always feel the cough come on when I’m laying down. I feel like all of a sudden I get an urge to cough laying down only as I feel like something is blocking an airway in my lungs like a trickle.

Colds, flus, and allergies cause the body to produce excess mucus. When you lie down, that mucus can drip down the back of your throat and trigger your cough reflex. Another reason why coughs get worse at night is acid reflux. Don't forget that acid is an irritant to the throat, much like mucus, germs, or dust. There can be many reasons of this condition. We would recommend that you consult a doctor with this problem.

I thought the cough was in the windpipe leading to the lungs, not the esophagus where food goes down thus the concoctions you are talking about. These concoctions may help with a sore throat which is in the esophagus but soar throats don't occur in the windpipe. Nothing has been able to get rid of my chronic cough. I was told at the ER everything looks clear and no indication of flu or the cold. So why am I coughing like hell?

Some blood pressure or heart medication can cause a cough.

@@leahsansone8799 But I don't take heart medication. However, after much research, I think my coughing would go away if this constant mucus running down the back of my throat and dripping out of my nose would disappear.

I'm in the same boat. I have terrible allergies...to everything. When I lie down, it's worse. Although, I stopped drinking tea and started grinding my own coffee beans to avoid molds. It's helped tremendously.

Yes, we understand that cough syrup and tea do not enter the lungs. Luckily for us :) And if you say that you have clear lungs, but a runny nose, then perhaps some tips from the video can help you. But we are very sorry that you are experiencing this. And by the way, the advice about drugs might make sense. Specifically in the context of heart health. Heart problems can also cause coughing. That's not to mention reflux, allergies, and other cough-related problems.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing post-nasal drip. If we talk about ways that do not apply to medicines, only raising the head of the bed during sleep, humidifying the air (up to 50-60%), purifying the air, drinking warm liquids make sense. We hope you get your allergies under control!

When I get to coughing too much, shooting a quick spray of Chloraseptic sore throat spray in the back of my mouth stops the coughing in it's tracks until I start coughing my head off again.
