If you can’t find a gymnastics school that teaches adults, then consider a martial arts school. You can also stretch, tumble, and kick/punch.

No! Martial arts is not a replacement for gymnastics. Martial arts won't teach tumbling. Tricking is the closest thing, as it covers both martial art and tumbling. And tricking schools are also hard to find too. A good alternative/replacement for gymnastics is pole fitness, contortion, aerial silk and aerial hoop. Aerial and pole are much more accessible and easier to find than a adult gymnastics class. I'm gymnast and a aerialist.

@@catnipherb I'm not saying MA is a replacement for gymnastics, but simply a good substitute, if there are no gymnastic/parkour schools or classes available nearby. In judo, jujitsu, aikido and hapkido, you will often learn proper rolls and falls for safety, that can even be applied to gymnastics in general.
I've always wanted to be a gymnast!!! My parents couldn't afford the fees and I taught myself what I could through books. At 36 I'm going to take classes and I'm super excited. I'm also a contortionist and aerialist! Just be open to all knowledge and help. Practice every chance you get and have fun!!!!!

Great video! If you are thinking about trying gymnastics as an adult, please go for it!! We all had ugly cartwheels, we have all fallen out of handstands, and we've all landed skills our butts. We also know it takes some real guts to go for it, and everyone is really supportive of each other's progress, regardless of where your skills are at. You'll most likely get the basics down more quickly than you may think!

I'm 20, I was bodybuilding and made good progress but am kind of tired of the amount of food and water I'm drinking & the stress of always feeling like I have to be doing something or getting bigger faster. It's pretty relieving that I still have time to start in the world of movement, gymnastics & mobility. This channel seems like it'll help a lot, so thanks man! 1st missions are Pike stretch, backflip & handstand.

I've been doing adult gymnastics since summer. I'm the youngest in my class by quite a bit at 25, so don't feel too old! If you can't find a place with an adult class, call and ask if you can come to open gym, try adult tumbling classes, see if your local college or universities offer it, or try martial arts, parkour, or diving. A lot of the people at my gym do those instead!

It’s rare to find a spot that accommodates taught classes, I’ll have some tutorial on the way soon you can use in open sessions if there aren’t any taught classes near you
Thanks! Inspiring 👏
If you can't find a adult gymnastics class near you, try and find other classes that are similar/close to gymnastics like... Ballet, aerial silk, aerial hoop, trapeze, pole fitness, cheerleading, contortion, tricking. Not sure if I want to add Parkour and Free Running to the list. Things you can do at home and video tutorials you can look up on KZread/Instagram/TikTok/etc and try straight away... Contortion and stretching (for splits and bridges/walkovers), calisthenics (handstands, levers, rings, etc), breakdancing spins/flares/windmills. Rolling. Ballet/gymnastic spins and leaps. And many more.
Such a great tutorial thanks !

A lot of fitness from practicing aerial hoop and aerial silk are transferable to gymnastics. You already have a head start than most adults. It doesn't hurt to find a local club and ask teachers there. Also find walkover tutorials on KZread, that you can practice at the gym and when you're at home.

Nope, weight doesnt matter. Yes, you can train at home. Just need a sensible plan and some basic equipment. Think bands, fixed hex dumbbells (which double as parrelettes), rings.

Hey Zachary no, you're doing absolutely nothing wrong. This can be the case in aN lot of areas.
