    i swear, they're indestructible. i saw one fall directly on his head the other day, stand up, and keep going like it was no big deal. i was like no way that would pan out nearly as well for a normal sized human being!

    wow! i think contortin/rhythmic gymnastics is waaay harder than artistic gymnastics, that's awesome! the flexibility required for those sports is absolutely crazy. good luck! let me know how it goes!

    Well done ! I have also started artistic gymnastics 3 months ago and I'll turn 30 in November. :-)) No gymnastics background. So far, so good. I am already able to do the flic on the trampoline and looking forward to learn more moves and keep myself in good shape. :-)

    Nobody warns you what gymnastics does to your hands. Women's Uneven Bars is the only exercise they have to worry about, but men have 4 apparatus that can turn their hands to hamburger - High Bar, Rings, Parallel Bars, and Pommel Horse. It takes months and years to build up tough calluses to resist the friction of gripping the bars while spinning around. Often they crack and bleed, or a blister forms that eventually rips off, leaving a raw divot in your hand. Not a pleasant prospect for holding hands on a date.

    I have been taking an adult gymnastics class, and my class owl is typically is in the early evening.....like not so late that I'm tired (although I am a night owl), bu t not super early that I'm rushing over after work. My coach is also super cool with us not doing an element if we are not "feeling it" or our body is saying "don't."

    I did the disaster of loose clothing at rhythmic gymnastics - it fell off and all the little kids were traumatized by my stomach and bra 😅😂

    So helpful! Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one miffed that adult classes are so late in the evening, and it doesn’t work for me as a morning person. Great idea to do private classes instead… the thing I like about group is that it gives me more time to rest while others take their turn. But it’s true that in private sessions I learn faster… How did you find your coach? :)

    I'm glad you found it helpful! Honestly, I just called every facility and asked. This guy was pretty cheap compared to basically everyone else otherwise idk if I could've afforded it 😂 good luck! I hope you find something :)

    Life is too short not to try! As long as you have someone knowledgable teaching/spotting you in a safe setting, you'll be good :) Tho that is the hard part isn't it 😅 Finding a gym near you that fits your schedule. I hope you get a chance to go for it because it is worth the experience!

    @@emmaogilvie8679 Thank-you so much 🙂 Yes I find it hard to commit to joining clubs etc because my health varies from day to day and I never really know how I will be, also I would feel out of place amongst all the younger gymnasts, and I guess personal tuition is expensive 😬 maybe I will work something out, much appreciated 🙂

    @@emmaogilvie8679 It was a lot of fun, but I'm definitely going to be feeling it tomorrow. I was not prepared for how hard it can be on your joints. All I did were handstands and cartwheels!

    @@totalyodel ahh yeah, do you feel it in your wrists? i feel like that's what usually gets people on their first day. it takes a while to develop wrist strength and endurance. hopefully tomorrow doesn't feel too rough!

    Last month just happened to be the 18th anniversary of the first time I was introduced to the sport as a whole, even if it wasn't in a competitive setting. In that span of time, I've only ever done gymnastics roughly ten or eleven times. Though it has been nearly half that time since I was in the proper setting, I do sometimes wonder if I would be able to relearn certain mechanics at 23. Until more recently, I had never heard of actual classes for adults, and no school or college I have attended ever had it as a sport curiously. Even some events such as Vault and Uneven Bars I've actually never even done at all.

    Gymnastics infrastructure is so heavily geared towards kids that it is pretty rare to find adult classes. In order to train 3x a week I'm currently going to 3 different gyms in the greater seattle area (covid availability) but only one of them is an actual gymnastics gym with all the proper apparatuses. i do hope adult gymnastics becomes more popular. it's such a fun way to workout

    @@emmaogilvie8679 In eighteen years, I've never technically done "formal" training per say, and there are still some painfully gaping holes in my skill set. I mean, I still can't flip and I can't for the life of me figure out why. In November of last year, I felt like I had pulled a muscle somewhere in my lower back and couldn't bend forward, despite the fact I hadn't done anything taxing. Because the bed in my dorm room was slightly elevated from the standard position, I had to basically jump into it, the same way a gymnast mounts onto a beam in certain situations. It seems like gymnastics is a fairly uncommon sport where I live in the Mid-Atlantic, even if I live around 90 minutes north of New York City. I sometimes find it fascinating how one of my favorite turn-based sports-along with "Freestyle Slalom" (on Skates), is so difficult to find in a competitive setting where I live.

    ​@@colinroberts2060 the two non-gymnastics gyms i train at (for gymnastics) are a circus gym and a trampoline/cheerleading gym. they both have spring mat floors and very knowledgable acrobats so that's how i've been getting around the limited availability of adult gymnastics. is there something similarly acrobatic yet not gymnastics per se near you? 🤞

    @@emmaogilvie8679 I'm not entirely sure if I've seen that exact setup which you are describing in person, but there is the potential of there being something like that within an hour west of me. As I said before, I haven't done gymnastics in an actual facility since July 3 of 2012-when I accompanied a Summer camp group on a field trip to a facility in Arlington (NY, not Texas). I feel like I have used certain techniques of gymnastics in other sports though, even when I was leaping over desks in my geometry and environmental science classes in high school to get to a group member on the other side of the room.

    love how your channel shows just how painstaking the process is to build up to acrobatic moves. what made you decide you wanted to do this? i’m intrigued by gymnastics and admire it, but was never sure if i really wanted to actually try tumbling (am about your age)

    that's funny you call it painstaking! 😂😂 well, glad you love it! haha i've always been drawn to the flippy activities but could never do them because i never had an opportunity to learn it. But now i do so i'm fully taking advantage of it. That's fair that you're not sure you want to try, nobody in my non-gymnastics/tricking friend group is remotely interested 😅 i think at a certain age your body decides the injury risk is not worth it and my body is a bit behind average :p

    assuming they aren't flexible or particularly strong, i think a front or side flip would be easiest.

    I'm 15 living in Sri Lanka ....there aren't any good gymnastic coaches in this country and my parents aren't very interested in the sport sadly 🥲So I'm planning on starting gymnastics when I go to music University in US or UK in avt 2 years :)))) Wish me luckkkk😁😁😁😁

    Great info! How is it going 3 years later? I am a 29y/o male with zero gymnastics experience and am going to my first adult class tonight (way later than i would prefer, as you mentioned, LOL)

    how did your first class go? i'm so curious what skills you tried out! sadly, i ran into injuries and haven't been back to the gymnastics gym in a while. they're minor injuries due to poor neuromuscular patterning, meaning i'm doing loads of physical therapy. i can't wait to get back to it though!

    @@emmaogilvie8679it went well overall! I worked on super basics like cartwheels and rolls, then we went to the bar and i learned the pullover and had some epic fails attempting a hip circle LOL. Rolls make me INSANELY DIZZY so that's gonna be a problem 😂 i need to do several every day to get my brain used to them. I look forward to going back!

    @@jordanbabcock Getting dizzy is not at all unusual for gymnastics beginners and will diminish as you get used to the movement and to being upside down. As well as doing rolls it can help to hold inverted poses, like shoulder-stand, headstand, and handstand (front to the wall for a beginner) because your circulation isn't used to having to work harder to pump blood to your feet than your head and the head rush is part of what makes you dizzy.

    @@icesokar3637 i think you'll find yourself making progress quick. There's so many different things to train in gymnastics, so it's easy to find one thing that you did better than last time! strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, skills for each individual event, etc.

    Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die". BUT, mercy said "I dont want to give them what they deserve. I don't want them to be cut off from Me. I love them despite all they have done/will do against Me. I want to give My children another chance. I want them to come home and live in My love again". And love said "Jesus, God's Son, came down as a Man, our representative, suffering every temptation, pain and struggle we have ever faced, yet without sin. He took all our sins (past/present/ even future) to the cross and then crucified EVERY ONE on our behalf. Justice was paid on the cross so that we can be free from Hell's punishment, experience Gods mercy of forgiveness of sin and live in His love. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (turn away from our sin and pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through Him (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to obey His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and ask Him to help us in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, or struggling or doubtful, simply be honest and tell Him that. He is not intimidated by ANY sin or struggle you are facing. ANY. He hears and will answer. If we pray for Him to come in, regardless of the condition, then He will. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. If you have any questions let me know X

    I used to play football, but now I am looking for alternatives because my knee told me not to do it anymore. So I ended up at calisthenics for now to stay in shape.
