It’s the last 1% of getting a skill that’s the hardest part, and it’s all mental. Michelle really gave it her all in this challenge and even though she didn’t quite meet her original goal she still did amazing!!

Love this! The honestly and realness about setting a high goal and not achieving it is very relatable. Ego be damned! It makes the victory that much sweeter and more meaningful!

Wow Michelle! Your back flip looked amazing! I find it so inspiring that you pushed yourself to learn such a difficult stunt in one day! And then listened to your body and extended your goal time! You are sending an important message that it's ok to wait and to keep trying! Love the support you got from Margzetta, Yoshi and Christopher!

Its amazing to have coaches like this during the process of learning a skill. Props to them for telling her WHEN to stop doing it because mentally it does affect how your body adapts to it.

Yeah the stunt guy was the meanest, I think the other two were alot better and Michelle seemed to respond better to the both of them

I think knowing how to flip and teaching someone how to flip are two different things. The stunt guy probably taught himself, while the gymnist and cheerleader probably had proper training so they know motivation, proper form, trust, etc is important when learning. You cant just come out the gate with tough love if trust hasnt been built yet and you havent tuaght proper technique.

The funny thing, whenever I have gone to a Parkour gym, or talked to someone about backflips, they say the back flip is the easiest to physically do. Just psychologically it is often the hardest.

takes a long time to learn any flip at all. to get this far in 24 hours is so impressive. and once u do it at first, u dont even know what your doing thats working, but eventually it'll feel like everything is moving in slow motion.

I think this is my favorite challenge accepted video. The fact that you recognized your limits but not letting that be a defeat- sometimes our best doesn't reach our goals but it's still incredible. And you DID the backflip just not how you wanted. Love this

  • @szk4023

I personally think the best learning sequence is: roundoff back handspring, then roundoff backflip, then standing back handspring, and lastly standing backflip. That's how I learned, all on my own. Never had a single gymnastics class. I had mastered cartwheels and roundoffs for years. One day, I saw a kid doing flips. He told me I should just give a roundoff back handspring a shot. I did and the rest is history! The standing backflip came probably 6 months later after a lot practice. This was over 25 years ago! Now that I'm in my 40s, I can still do a standing handspring but I've lost everything else. I miss that sensation of defying gravity. Don't give up.
