How to Spike a Volleyball (Part 2/2) - Scientific explanation of the most important items!

What is the orientation of your palm?
How are shoulder blades used?
What is the effect of the brake that suddenly accelerates the hand?
I explained in detail how to use the right arm, which I think is the most important, to hit a powerful spike.
*I try to explain it as scientifically as possible, but it also includes a lot of my personal opinions, so I hope you can refer to it as a theory, not as an absolute correct answer.

    Thank you for your video. I love it, and it's so informative. I am curious about keeping the elbow high or at the shoulder height level. I watched many videos of Yuji Nishida spiking and have the impression that his elbow is very low, but he spikes very well. Am I wrong in that, or is there another explanation? I am looking forward to your answer and your next video.

  • @hoshitore

    @hoshitore

    Жыл бұрын

    yes! That's exactly what happens next time. Nishida also looks like his elbows are down, but he's on the scapraplane when he's pulling backwards. It doesn't matter if his elbows are down as long as his arms are in front of his body at the start of the swing. (I think you can understand this by imagining a baseball pitcher.) At the beginning of the swing, when the arm is in front of the body, it is below, and by turning it from there, you can hit a more powerful spike. It's difficult to imitate, but next time I'll explain this area, so please look forward to it!

    One thing I would like your opinion on would be a good way to try implementing these movements. For example I will try to use a lot of your techniques and I think I end up overthinking it and messing up on half of them in a game. Like I'll focus on my swing mechanics but forget to focus on my jump mechanics and I will have a sloppy jump. And then my timing might be off because I'm so focused on my swing mechanics that I don't properly time my swing.

  • @hoshitore

    @hoshitore

    11 ай бұрын

    Yes, I am sure there is such a problem. Regarding that, I explained it in my past video "Principles of Consciousness", but I haven't been able to translate it into English yet. I will try to get the translation work done as soon as possible.😥 Simply put, Practice to improve your form and change the way you think when you actually play. Human beings can only be conscious of one thing, Be aware of your form when practicing correcting your form. And when you play in a match, it's important to focus on the match without thinking about your form. Also, when modifying the form, It is a good idea to start with an image of the big picture and then pay attention to the details one by one. for example, At first, focus only on the left leg of the jump and practice 3 times, After that, concentrate on the arm swing of the jump and practice 3 times, A few times while being conscious of the left arm of the swing A few times while being conscious of the right arm of the swing Practice a few times imagining the whole Also, be aware of the parts that you can't do well, and training method like If you focus on one movement, the other movements may fall apart or not go well, but by practicing carefully one by one while imagining the whole, you will improve little by little. However, as I wrote earlier, this kind of awareness should not be done during the game. When you play a game, don't think about your form, just focus on the game. Good luck!

    Thank you, coach, for providing such detailed video explanations. However, there seems to be research suggesting that compared to the bow & arrow technique, the circular swinging arm method is less likely to cause shoulder injuries. What is your opinion on this, coach?

  • @hoshitore

    @hoshitore

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your good question! Yes, bow and arrow can lead to injury, but having good shoulder joint flexibility can help prevent injury. On the other hand, circulars are also more susceptible to injury than bow and arrows, depending on how the arms are rotated. Just next time, I will explain the good points and bad points of bow and arrow, circular swing, and what to do to avoid injury. Please look forward to it!

    Thank you so much for the detailed video. I'm trying to memorize as much as I can and will practice it. Question: in the step that you extend elbow and pronate the arm, it seems that it's ideal for hitting the ball to the right. What about when you want to hit the ball straight forward or to your left?

  • @hoshitore

    @hoshitore

    10 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your comment! Regarding the question, Whether you're hitting straight or hitting to the left, you'll be pronating while extending your elbow. If you hit the ball with good timing and your palm is facing straight ahead, you can hit it straight. Also, for the method of splitting to the left and right, The swing motion is basically the same, but When hitting straight, hit the center of the ball. Hit the ball slightly to the right when hitting left, and hit the ball slightly to the left when hitting right. In this way, I think that it is better to change the impact location rather than hitting with the swing path of the arm.

  • @hoshitore

  • @hoshitore

    @hoshitore

    2 ай бұрын

    コメントありがとうございます。 言葉だけだと分かりにくいかもしれませんが、簡単に説明します。 はい、確かに、回内するので、横回転がかかるイメージがあるかもしれませ。ですが、手のひらがちょうど正面を向いた時にインパクトすれば、横回転はかかりません。 よろしければこちらの動画も見ていただきたいのですが、 kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKB5zdCeda7PZNY.html ↑この動画で説明しているように、ボールの飛び出す方向と、回転は、インパクトの瞬間でほぼ決まります。 真っ直ぐ打つ場合、 手の軌道は左右へのブレはなく真っ直ぐ振り抜きますし(回内しながらスイングしますが、手の軌道は真っ直ぐです)、インパクトする場所はボールの中心のやや上ですので、横回転はかからず縦回転になるのです。また、縦回転をかけるためには、手首の掌屈が重要になります。 それについても先程のリンクをご覧になってみてください。

    There are various causes, so I can't give a general answer, but I will introduce some solutions. 1. Do not deviate from the Scapler plane. Practice to make good use of the twisting of your spine. 2. Do not deviate from the zero position. Practice tilting your trunk to the left by pulling your left arm up and down. 3. Do dynamic stretching. Do this before performing the hitting technique or as a shoulder joint training. However, it is impossible to say for sure without actually seeing the patient, so if the ringing or pain becomes severe, I recommend that you see a hospital.
