This is the best lesson I've seen in a long time. The key is, you are breaking down the actual thought process behind the choices. It's not just a "do what I do" type of lesson. You're explaining why choices are made, thus giving a watcher the freedom we are all looking for. Thanks for this one, especially.
I'm a simple bassist. I see Daric upload, I hit like and watch
This shows just how important it is to know what KEY YOU’RE IN AND WHAT SCALE WORKS FOR THAT KEY!!!! Vital absolutely vital!! Thanks Daric for this!!
Been playing guitar for almost 20 years. Just now got my first bass, believe it or not. So much fun! Even though all my dexterity, finger stamina, muscle memory and all that jazz, I´m approaching my new instrument as if I´m a complete beginner. I wanna get things right the first time, properly! Browsed a lot of bass stuff, channels... this is the one that spoke to me most thus far! subscribed!
Been waiting on something like this. Trying to figure it out on my own wasn't working, i was close but this did it. Can't wait to get home and grab the bass. (work!!) Appreciate you bruh.
I've been playing for over 40 years and I never broke improvisation down like this. This was a very helpful video. Thanks
As a flamenco player I have more technicalities in common with a bassist than a metal 6-string player. Although I’m often in Phrygian. Very cool video. Loving the groove. Wonderful, thank you.
Much respect sir! You’re an excellent teacher! Love the content it is very helpful!
I just love these lessons, Daric is a top player, teacher & all round good guy
I haven't listened to a good bass player in years! It is amazing what the mind can learn. Thank you!
Great breakdown…thank you!!

Magical Golden Hands👌👌👌
Great stuff Daric! Maybe do a video on how to blend with a band you dont have chemistry with? Thats an underrated aspect that will get us more gigs
Hi daric un petit coucou depuis la France j'aime ton approche forcer les joueurs à comprendre le pourquoi du comment super intéressant la théorie au service du jeu en impro merci pour toutes ces bonnes ondes. Super vitesse d'exécution 👍❤️
Nice to see your channel bud, nice to see some more rochesterians beating the algorithms within the innards of the yt monster! Cheers
Lydian on that b7 is so nice tho! Never did that before thanks!!
Mate, I've been trying to get my head around the modes for a while now, i'm not sure what just clicked, but the light bulb is starting to fizz a bit. Great job explaining this.
Too saucy with it brother 🫠
Thanks Dad!
🔥🔥🔥
Yo very good

Are you just saying that C7 is the V of F Maj, and any mode of F Maj will work?

Yes. C Mixolydian is the V scale/mode of F Major/Ionian and the C7 Chord is formed from the C Mixolydian scale. That's where the Bb in the chord came from. you can run the Bb Lydian scale, the D Aeolian scale, the G Dorian scale, etc. any mode of F Major or in the context of this video, any mode of C Mixolydian since C is the root note here, not F.
Wait wait wait. Just blew my mind. So you just basically said if I know I’m starting in mixolydian I just need to play up two scale degrees and run the locrian pattern from there? So help me figure out that I’m in C mixolydian? Is it literally matching the chord tones and doing the arithmetic?
Its interesting but its only for advanced players
This guy is a dope player
😮
Question: so C9 automatically implies a flatted 7th?

Anyone?

Yes. The chord written & spoken as C9 is a C dominant 9, comprising the 1st, 3rd, 5th, flattened 7th, and the 9th (counting from the root note). If the 7th were to be natural (not flattened) the chord would be written as CMaj9, spoken as C major 9, and comprise the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th.
Anyone know what kind of bass he’s playing? Looks like it has a big “e” logo on the headstock.

To be able to improvise, you must have music singing in your head, if there us nothing there, there is no improvisation. If you do have, then scales are not important, play whatever you have in your head.....
