I agree, the brother is very simple, and he is a killer bassist.
Run for Cover is legendary but I've been spending the morning learning Daric's filthy intro riff leading into the song!
Correction: It's a track "written" by Marcus Miller FOR David Sanborn (..as the majority of Davids' music was). That's why he killed it!!

lol exactly one of the many songs marcus wrote for David sanborn

@@breezecanada4038....this song is over 40yrs old and in marcus miller interviews ive seen or heard where he speaks on run for cover marcus said he wrote this song and David sanborn wanted to use the song along with some others marcus wrote for his voyuer album
I've been playing for ages, but have never heard this song before. Nice breakdown and I'll have some fun with it this afternoon after Church.
Thanks man. Very clear instructions on playing this tune.
Thanks Daric. Beautifully played and explained.
Bless you for this man.
Clear concise and to the point beautiful thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome breakdown of a really cool bass line!
Been working on this one for a little while now. Those triplicate ghost notes were beating me up bad!! Real slick, Daric!
How I wished to learn that 😅😍🤗 Thank you for the breakdown ❤️👍
Thank you so much for this tutorial👏👏
OMG My funk level just increased 10 levels! LOL!! Thanks so much my man!!
God bless you Daric.
Passionate game!! Bravo!
Great lesson! Thanks
DARIC YOU BADD MAN...GREAT PLAYING
Man I wish you were a round when I was first learning 46 years ago….. awesome
Thank u that's the real sauce
I love playing that riff every time I pick up my bass
Congratulations 🔥👏👏👏
My brother you are a good teacher! 👍
My brother are like water on that bass thanks for breaking it down so simple new sub here now it's practice time
Thanks Daric, that was awesome, thanks for sharing that, i'm thinking about joining and becoming a member
I'm not the most technical when I slap so these tips really help!
Sounds amazing 👍
Daric you are a vicious beast.
Thank you for showing how the triplets are played. I have always wondered as a beginner.
Thanks. The genius of M2 is fun to explore. Like you said, its a David Sanborn song but the bass line just dominates. The thing l enjoy the most about Marcus Miller is that his songs aren't built around a bass solo. The bass solo expresses itself within the song, but still stands out. But he also has an amazing straight ahead trio thing on video where he and his band is playing in front of a full orchestra on the song jeckel and hyde that makes want Mr. Miller to compose just 1 straight ahead jazz album! Very greatful for your breakdown. I kinda taught myself that riff in sections too but not with the same technical breackdown and insight you have. Absolutely a feel thing unless you have a grasp of time signatures and beats per measure and all the stufff that blurrs my mind lol. Got to close your eyes and feel it lol. Great work sir!
Damn Daric, this is spicy.
sick! nice job
A video about the techniques used on sinister minister would be nice too 😄 Great teaching!
Your sound is epic 👍👍
Oooohhhh Yeah.... 👏💓🎶🎶🎸..Thank You 👏
The track is by Marcus Miller,he wrote the song. It was recorded on D Sanborn's album. Marcus was the bass player in David's band at the time. The credit has been mixed up for years but again, it is Marcus's song.

Every interview I have heard with either Davis Sanborn or Marcus Miller, they both talk about how Marcus wrote this song (and many others) for David.
Man can you please break that lick down at the beginning of the video! I lost my mind when i heard it.

Love your lessons, I am a beginner, what's a good learning bass riffs
I need to learn his technique. I can pick out the notes on my own. Good technique bruh.
One of the best! Daric your bass is so clear clean in your video recording? What equipment are you using?
Yes yes yessss 👍🏾
Bro , really you are the best theaching, yo u must be clonning!
Makes the part come alive and is a wonderful player….
i wish this came out 10 years ago lol good video
marcus miller wrote run for cover in his late teens early 20s and it was on David Sanborns 1981 album Voyeur Marcus composed 4 of the songs on that album ...aside from Marcus legendary Uncanny style of Groove on the bass hes a equally as good of a composer and producer helping Sanborn and Luther vandross achieve commercial success and helped revived Miles davis career in the 80s
Dude! I always thought that song was way too hard for me to try and play; but Thanks for clearing that up for me/us, really appreciate it. ... By the way, What do you have in that Bass of yours?! it sounds incredible! 😄👊🏾
Nice men!
I've seen him do that run both ways but most times he slaps it, "Marcus Miller "Run for Cover" from Live Under The Sky '91" is my favorite version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4d_tZmnfpvVaKg.html

“Not loads of notes involved just the rhythm and technique … “ haha yeah rhythm is how everything started after the Big Bang !!!!!!
💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What's that scale you are starting with
Can we get a break down of the Open riff ??
Marcus wrote it for David Sanborn. So it always belonged to Marcus.
Great Job Daric,I'd love to have a teacher here in the UK that breaks it up like you do,had 4 tutors and sacked them all,to much talking with the tech stuff that I don't have a clue about, teaching scales that take me nowhere,so im back to using my ears, love to come to America but the risk of being killed by your police is to big,so I'll continue to listening to you from here, big up on this video bro,im going to get this down by tomorrow, big respect Daric.

Yes..I've had a few run ins with police in a few different states..I'm still alive & a few times I was completely against being arrested😁
I've never tride that song before.
The cleanest triplets ever
Hello Daric. When I go on my KZread history of what videos I have watched and do a search with the keyword "bass", ur vids arent displayed in the results. So that leads me to that u don't have any tags containing the keyword "bass" for this video. Would be great to be get found in the YT search. You could get more followers. U could also put bass in the title. This could also help to get listed in the search. And by the way: Bomb video, man. Thnx. Bass learning is fun with this video. I am a very new beginner. :) Cheers.
✅
The notes aren't too hard to play, but getting all the nuances and feel to sound like Marcus is so hard

thats what makes marcus so special this bassline is over 40yrs old marcus is so innovative and creates a baseline simple or complex and put his signature stamp on it and no other bass player can replicates the way he executes that baseline
The first two notes are C# to D? Sounds like you say D#
👍👍👍
I keep seeing this style of bass, what is it?
This is originally a Beatles song written by Paul Mcartney and John Lennon that was rearranged by Marcus Miller for David Sanborns excellent horn skills!!
wonderful! But how do I got that speed?
@jackieclark8253
2 жыл бұрын
Keep playing it slow until you get it exactly right, then gradually speed up...while playing it right
👍👍🙏🙏🤘✌️👌
give a lesson on keeping time like a drummer with the rumble thumb
Daric, I knew you were for real but you are on Mark Lettieri’s Deep album??? You are a BAD @$$.. I got to search you ….
I subscribed, I always like, but I must have been born without the slap bone.
excellent explaining. But dude, why carrying to wear the hoody anyway ? its barely touching your head.
Maybe Marcus Miller absolutely ripped it because he... um... composed it. It's his song.
out of curiosity, why would i listen to you instead of Marcus
Don't waste your time on slap if you want to be a professional . Bands want their bass player to hold the bottom and provide foundation .
Slower pls with more close ups. I'm stupid.
