@@jandearlivinglife4433 I've been driving a 13 speed and been learning on my own. Basically it's like an 18. But I'll give the speeds per gear from the 13 that I drive. Gears 1-2 are only starting gears or gears where you lost so much speed you about to stop or roll back. 3rd gear is lowest practical gear where you creeping onto a scale or sum. 3rd is 5 mph. 4th gear is 10 to 12 mph. 5th Low is 15 mph and 5 High going to 25 mph more practical around 18. 6th low is 25 mph at low rpms. 6th High goes to 35. 7th low is 35 to 45 and 7th high is around 45 to 50 mph. Right hand turns are should be the same as in a 18 speed. So clutch and brake and drop here in 4th gear or 5th low. I only ever use 5th high if I didn't catch the gear and it's a slight dip where speed increases. If you making a left turn, 5th L or H should match your speed.

I use to Drive a 10 speed. I loves it. 5 on the floor like a regular stick but with a switch under shifter. Down for low up for high. In city I usually didn't come out of 4th. I loved how on 3rd low then go high she took off. Even towing heavy equipment. I used cluck to engage my gears . I miss driving that truck sometimes. It was a old truck I had to figure out how to drive it with minimal training. Oh the memories.

I'm only halfway through the video and this is a big help to me. I drive currently a super 10 which isn't necessarily splitting gears but, if you want to say it's like a five-speed pattern and you have to split every gear to get to tenth gear. So this is very similar to that except for the high low switch in the 18 speed. Very nice video I appreciate it.

One thing all the videos forget to teach that is important for rookies learning to drive a manual is knowing the rpms and road speed. One thing I can’t find but I will learn when I’m out there is when down shifting or skipping gears you need to know what speeds will work with such gears. Anyway great video be safe driver!

The 6th gear position on a 10 speed is not commonly used by many on an 18 speed bc it mimics the 5th gear position gear ratio (or the 9/10 position on an 18spd.)though it is usable and I like to use it when I’m making some rolling side road turns(treats the 18 like a 20spd, you might say). I like using it bc It keeps me from having to make the long throw to low range 9/10 and I can immediately accelerate and stay in high range w/o the long throw motion back up to 11/12 when I’m accelerating and best in those situations where it’s a little uphill and you might be considering going briefly into low range. When shifting down to the low splitter thumb button position stab the throttle at the same time to increase the rpm’s and she’ll sync in smooth. I was told but not certain that preselecting high and low range before you shift is fine bc it’s air actuated but, what you don’t want to do is pre-select the splitter for longer periods or, try and at least time the split about the exact same time as you’re working the throttle for that shift...don’t let it hold for long. That’s because the splitter unlike the high/range is actuated by an electrical solenoid and it is or can heat up as it is working under electrical current load waiting until you actually apply throttle to release that gear to go to your intended gear. Makes a lot of sense but these are just my 2 cents worth and I don’t ever hear these things addressed in videos much that I’ve seen is why I bring it up. It may be bc it’s a little advanced instruction that one doesn’t have to know and could sound confusing to new drivers viewing this for just the basic operation. What are your thoughts? Also, I wonder how many other drivers like myself like to use their left foot on the brake a little at the same time as they are gearing down while feathering the throttle with their R. foot in order to keep the drive train more stable allowing for smoother, less driveline lash and presumably saving wear and tear on U-joints and other driveline components thru the tendency of load shifting gyrations incurred in the downshifting process?
