This has bugged me for decades! Thank you so much. I never thought to push the nose out of the way.
Literally thought about this yesterday. I saw after I cleaned my face I missed under the nose. This will help tremendously!

Just used a safety razor for the first time today, and that spot, and the sides of my trachea, are the only part that seemed to kick my butt. Thanks.
That's a good tip. I normally just use a safety shavette along with my safety razor to shave under my nose and also my beard line and cheeks if I'm rocking some form of a beard

Good plan, good plan!
You should do a video on which water concentration provides the better shaving experience from mixing lather to washing the face: filtered water (purified water) vs straight tap water.
Uncle Geo!!! I have been practicing this and cross grain for my next video under the nose with the OneBlade Core. I am gonna give you a shoutout if that’s ok.
Hey Geo good to see you. Thanks for the tip.

I get it with my Safety razor most of the time but certain razors are harder than others. When I can’t get to them I’ll just pull out my shavette and it works like a charm

Also one of my very first!
I have been using a safety razor for less than a year, and that area has always bothered me. I will admit that I cheat and still use my Schick Hydro 5 once a week to clean up under the nose. Being able to flip that top bar out of the way and put bare blade right up against my nose has saved me from getting that hairy line. Maybe as my skills develop, I will be able to put the cartridge down one day. I enjoy watching the videos and always learn. Thanks

Hi Julius, Thank you for your support and for sharing your experience.
Yuma best for this!!
I use the top corner (leading edge) of the razor/blade only with no other portion of the razor touching my skin...one point/corner tip of the blade on the skin. The bottom of the razor is angled more away from the face (towards the mirror) when shaving. Starting under the middle of the nose going towards the direction of the ear and again starting at the beginning of the outside nostril towards the middle of the nose. More difficult to describe but works for me.

Sounds good. Thanks for the tip!
Good advice Geo....a very easy easy of removing those hard to reach whiskers as well as those in the corner of the mouth is to use...heaven forbid...the trimmer bar on the Giletter cartridg razor. Indeed, that is the only reason that I keep the razor around. Incidentally, Merkur used to sell a small razor that was meant specifically for trimming whiskers in those hard to reach areas...are the blades still available for that model?

Hello Dr-This is the tool of which you speak. Blades are available as well.
Hey Geo! I had a question for you. I noticed that some of the hair on my neck grows laterally. For this I would shave across the grain? How would I hold my razor when I do this? Thanks!
geo, could you review the Bevel safety razor and the Baxter safety razor? thanks!

Hi Geo, hope you are staying safe and well. Its a bit of a specialist but the Merkur Beard and Moustache Razor has a blade the goes right to the end. I also thought an interesting comparison might be the vintage Gillette razors the Fat Boy Adjustable and the Slim Adjustable.

Hi Maurice-You mean this bad boy? bit.ly/MerkurMoustacheEyebrowTrimmerSN I find that the blades really aren't so sharp as they need to be to use it properly. Also, looks like I need to get my hands on a Slim, and a Toggle! I've only a standard Fatboy at the moment.

@@geofatboy Yes, that is the one. I agree with your comments about the blades. Pity you live across the pond from Wales I could have lent you a Slim and Fatboy. Sadly the shipping would almost be the price of buying them.
Should skin be held tout or relaxed under the nose above lip area? Always nicks me doing that area using side passes. Any tips?
once i switched to a slant bar i noticed that i shaved under my nose way more efficiently

Sadly, like a goofus I used a nose hair trimmer abit too far up so you imagine what I now deal with. Would using a safety razor still be somewhat beneficial?
Does this trick work with the merkur futur ? Cause i really like this razor but i hear from people who own it that this is the only problem...

@@geofatboy I feel you..I'm a casi o geek myself.
I have recently purchased the JaTai shaving cream with the Feather Popular Double Edge Razor. I put dollop in the bottom of my bowl and tried using a wet brush to make lather. Nothing happened. It’s like an after-shave lotion. I shaved with it but found after reapply for 3 passes I still had stubble. Any ideas, am I even using it properly?
I’ve tried this and it still doesn’t get rid of the stragglers for me or I end up cutting the side-bottom of my nose. I normally use my Gillette fusion for those stragglers as I don’t have to be to careful with it
Try th e gilette pro glide
This has been my white whale. I use a shavette and often cut myself just under the nose from multiple attempts at shaving under my nose. I’ll be trying this next shave. Thanks Geo!

This is why I use a Gillette fusion. Ease-of-use and super smooth shaving and easy to get under the nose. You got to think of it from the standpoint of Gillette. They're sinking millions of dollars a year into shaving technology. It's going to be exponentially better than a safety razor.
