I’m 62. Been rockin the stach since 1977 with the exception of a one time shave off when I went to basic military training in 78. The stach is my trademark. It does get a little wild at times I have to admit. And I do grow a beard once in awhile and definitely do the 5 o’clock shadow most days. You can see it for yourself in my videos. I have had a few guys tell me they want to grow one like mine but are afraid of criticism. I basically tell them to man up and grow a pair.

Started growing my mustache September 1973 @ the age of 19 & I have never shaved it off. I would grow it for a week or two & shave it, since I wasn’t sure if I had enough growth to have a thick mustache. An older man that I worked with convinced me to let it grow for a longer period of time, telling me that the follicles needed to droop down to make it thicken. About two months later I had a great looking Chevron mustache, inspired by Mark Spitz the 1972 Olympian. Later, Turned out looking as thick as Larry Csonka’s mustache. Now @ 65, it’s gray like Greg Berzinsky’s.

I think that’s what got me every time.. it looked janky, sloppy, and trashy.. but once I got a trim kit and started combing, brushing, and scissor trimming, I’m obsessed with it.. it’s all about keeping it off the lip.. don’t let ANYTHING hang over the lip and it will change your life lol.. happy stache-ing brothers!

On the first point, of only growing about a centimeter a month (which for many would actually be rather fast), I've been growing my moustache for like 6.5 years now. XD Now, I'm only 23, and my facial hair has actually only started to really kick in for a few months now. In my teens I only had to shave/trim (as I'm not growing a full beard, only a thin - but long - beard along with my moustache) about once every two weeks. Now I have to do it multiple times a week to keep it in mint shape, as I can visually see my stubble grow out in a matter of only a day now. But still, even if you have some nice facial hair growth going on, it'll still take some patience. Don't be discouraged though, it's like a work in progress. Enjoy the journey a bit.

I'm rocking a chevron for 6 months now, mostly with a short stubble. I've tried to grow out my beard several times over the last years but I was never satisfied with the results due to some patches. The mustache was always very thick though! So instead, I decided to wear a solid mustache. Yes you get some jabs but hey, at least you dare to rock what you've got and wear it with pride!

@@shanepatrick641 Sure, it's actually pretty simple: Just let it grow out for 3-6 months. Do not trimm it! The hardest part is learning to eat and drink with it. You don't really need any product. I only used a small comb in the morning and applied some oil every now and than.

But it was always so thick in height and grew much faster than my beard, for November I decided to grow it out... best decision ever, I now have a full handlebar moustache, currently wider than the width of my face, it's so much hassle to maintain but I have got nothing but compliments, I love it

I think this is a solid intro. Nicely done. For the haters commenting on a man's voice, this man has a brassy voice, with heavy mids in the eq. It's a somewhat rare but cool vocal tone. It has featured on some characters on TV, so what. I knew a guy who naturally talked slow and deep kind like Homer Simpson made famous (but even before Homer Simpson) and he owned that voice, good on him. I knew a girl in school who spoke so fast that we usually had to ask her to say it all again, like twice. We called her the machine gun. I knew a bloke from Washington State once who sounded kind of like a bear. He probably thought I sounded like a steel spring in a garage door (I'm from east coast Australia). We didn't understand each other half the time but went on to be great friends. Everyone has a unique voice that they should never apologise for; do you haters want us to all sound like the narrow and fake voices you've heard on TV/movies/online gaming now? Perhaps it comes back to your confidence in your own voice - you wish you sounded like Chris Hemsworth but you don't so you try to put someone else down. C'mon, real men don't do that shit. Why not record your voice, listen to it and see its uniqueness and love yourselves a little more. Then you can chill out and concentrate on growing your 'stache. That's what it's all about. Peace

I know im late to this party on this video, but to anyone who wants a moustache and is too afraid to grow one, just do it. Im 28, I have had a moustache in some form for the better part of the last 10 years, and for the last few years ONLY a moustache because Im a firefighter now. If its the criticism your worried about, first of all just stop worrying because who cares what anyone thinks. But more importantly, the only people in my experience who crack jokes are your friends. (one of my friends does call me Jeff Foxworthy from time to time lol) I dont think I have had even one time where a random stranger criticized my stache. Even if they did I wouldnt care but be you, thats the point.
