I just received the 38C for a Christmas gift. It is my first safety razor, so we will see how it goes. I just wanted to comment on the direction of the knurling on the handle, mine actually rotates in the opposite direction of the one you show in your video. Not sure if this is a change they have made since that time, or if they make specific right and left handed ones. Your comment regarding slippage/lack of grip for a right handed user actually makes sense, and this wasn't something I specifically thought about...but mine makes sense for a right handed user (which I am).

I also have a 38C with the lines going clockwise instead of counter clockwise, same as Tony.

Hi Sir, my first Razor was the Parker 99R and I'm a little unsatisfied about it. Your docu helped me to inform myself about the Merkur... THX!!!

Thx for sharing, enjoyed it very much :-) I've had my 38c for a coupla years now, and I wouldn't call it aggressive or mild as such. LOL I would say medium, but just because of the sheer weight it is labeled aggressive. I haven't used the 34c so I can't compare. Comparing the Merkur 38c to the Edwin Jagger DE89 I, personally, found the EJDE89 more aggressive then the 38c. PURELY for me ;-) In the review I didn't hear any mention of the number 3 that 's on both pieces of the razor. Do you line them up? I always do ;-)

I have tried more than 23 razors. Lord L6 is the best razor I have ever tried. Easy to use very, closed shave, light which means easy to use and move around.

so this one is milder than the 34C looks like a great option..for me as a newbie..this one needs to go on top of my list above the 34C ;-) thanks for the review..still looking for a mild solution to start with..

i do like it but a just got the Merkur progress long handle and it's a bit more aggressive but also a bit more efficient and i do like the fact that i can adjust it..still even in it's closed setting it's more open then the 38C but i do like that one ..next razor to tryout is an open comb Merkur i think the 25C ;-)

Where did you get yours? The finish looks a lot better on this one, compared to some other videos. Some seem to have a more aluminum like color. This one looks perfect.

Why did you not say that the end piece comes out ? It is like this on the 34 c too . If you really want to clean it . I took it out once.

Nothing compares to Taiga (AISI 316) adjustable DE safety razor. There's no point using anything else.
