Youwotm8? D.va absolutely annihilates Pharah-mercy combos. Pharah doesn't have the DPS to kill you before you kill the mercy, and then you can fly off for HP or finish her yourself.

She's fiddly as fuck to use at first, but when you get used to her, there is a LOT to like. In particular, she is the utter bane of Reinhart. Shield doesn't do a damn thing against the energy balls.

I've rarely had problems with Roadhog. He's sorta just free ult charge for me.

Yeah, but that's an ability. He can't constantly use it, and it's his only way of getting kills.

But if they nerf Roadhog, how else am I gonna perform reasonably well? You just get lucky with a hook, left click, and hey! You've got a gold medal in every category. It's as easy as that.

ok for tf2 translation road hog is basically pyro...but instead of burning things to a crisp and thinking pain is love he instead does a catch and release technique witch as you've seen in the video is just as effective as running up to someone who doesn't notice you and burn their pathetic life into a pile of ash also pyro and mei have "totally" different strategies (I wonder if the two would date each other)

Roadhog's hook can be pretty easy to dodge, and oftentimes if you get with it you're not being cautious enough. It's pretty easy to punish him if it misses, too. He also gets pieced up by Zenyatta, who is far more common right now.

Eh... dude, I love your content and liked this video, but Roadhog is very definitely not overpowered :P Reinhardt shuts him down, Zarya shuts him down, Widowmaker shuts him down, Zenyatta shuts him down, Mei shuts him down in a group fight... he's honestly got more counters than almost any other character. Out of your 3 "broken" characters, McCree is the only one that's ever picked in competitive play :P

The thing is, streetpig doesn't really tank I mean he can soak up damage with his health, but that gives huge amounts of ult to the enemy Unlike literally every other tank, highwayboar can't block damage He does high damage, but is way outdamaged close range by reaper and long - medium range by almost everyone else His hook is pretty good though, usually guarantees a kill if it doesn't glitch out and pull the person above or behind him The self heal's pretty amazing too, though it can lead to the enemy getting extra ult if it's used wrong

Blizzard really just needs to reduce his hook range. It's not too bad after you learn to predict the hooks, but it's bullshit when you get hooked across the map or through a wall.

I know this is just advanced shitposting but on the off chance it isn't, roadhog is terrible at mid to long range and completely relies on actually landing the hook to kill. if you play people who know how to move or avoid it, you won't kill them. mei can freeze herself, junkrat can concussion mine you and himself away (and his passive might kill you if he dies) widow and Hanzo can snipe you, pharah can keep her distance, Reaper can vape away, Tracer can recall if she hits the button fast enough, Genji can Swift strike away if he's fast enough, etc.

I'm assuming you mean in relation to the hook with all the examples you listed, right? Well, no character should have the time able to use an ability to get away if the Roadhog is fast enough. That's not to say he's overpowered, I completely disagree with that, but it's impossible to survive as Tracer for example if the Roadhog knows what he's doing.

God, I love the Cowboy Bebop music.

I love Mei and I spent at least 70% of the game playing her (I pick other characters too, don't worry, don't argue please), but she has never been called "broken". McCree has been nerfed, but I didn't see any difference, he is clearly the most broken characters of broken characters, even after nerf. And for Roadhog, I don't know, but I never felt he was THAT overpowered, even with all his abilities... He is slow, a big target, not very sneaky, and has a big head. He is strong, but every character of Overwatch is, so... Anyway, great video, as always!

Widowmaker actually was kind of busted, but she's been toned down quite a bit now and is much more fair. Roadhog has never been incredible. If you're facing 6 players that are running around like headless chickens, then yeah, Roadhog can pick them off easily. But if you're facing a team guarding themselves with a good Reinhardt and ready to pounce the second you immobilize yourself with the hook, you're not going to do much. Roadhog is a very, _very_ uncommon pick in the competitive scene.

Stigu Pretty much. Roadhog is a bully character, and he's also the tank that functions best without support. But a well-built, well-played team is not going to leave a lot of room for bullying, and is ALWAYS going to have at least a Mercy and often more than that. I hate this attitude of "well, in a one on one duel he beats a lot of characters, therefore he's broken." It's not true, and it's not how Overwatch works.

MockRock - Smash Bros and More The problem being that Road Hog is good for just shucking the Mercy from whoever she's pocketing. He serves pretty much the same purpose as a soldier in TF2 - he's supposed to blast away the Heavy's pocket medic so that people can focus down the beefy dude she's supporting. He's good even when not in a 1v1 skirmish, since he's got team mates. He turns the fight into a 5v5, and then 5v6 when he comes back from killing whoever he grabbed. Granted, he gets bullied really easily, but with a coordinated team, he can put out some serious work. Mei is shit because she does what Roadhog does, but she absolutely has to catch someone out, whereas Roadhog just has to grab someone from a mile away.

I know that your videos are all just comedy, and I personally find them hilarious, but this one could cause some trouble. New players will take this video seriously and actually believe that Roadhog is overpowered. Then they will complain to Blizzard, and he will get nerfed, making him even less viable in competitive play.

Weegee Plays I'm not saying he's unviable, but rather that as a tank hero, he is outshined by heroes like Reinhardt. Roadhog has great sustainability and is great in a close range 1v1. That is why pro teams will use him as a "pick class" - a hero that can pick of enemies one by one. However, in most maps with a long open area and in team fights, he has a serious disadvantage. tl;dr Decent tank, great pick class. Still can be strong, but certainly not OP and in need of a nerf.

Plus with people constantly doing damage to him, he's pretty much just helping the enemy team build ultimate. Like, all the other tanks have a form of shield to block damage (which doesn't build ultimate), but not Roadhog. I've regained my mech as D.va versus a Roadhog three times in a single encounter just by jumping around him (far enough to avoid max left click damage, but close enough to keep right click doing shit for damage) and shooting the hell out of him.

Joshua G Not really. Roadhog has options, it's just that chain shot is really his best option, hence why it's a cooldown ability. As a tank, I'm pretty sure he's the only one without any armour or shields, making him a spongier tank than D.va, amazingly.

Let me bandwagon real quick and toss Roadhog's OP status in with Bastion. He's not OP, you've just got a case of pub fever. If you're playing with a group of people who are willing to cooperate and strategize, Roadhog becomes a much worse character. His left shift is the thing people always complain about, but considering that the only tanks who can't completely prevent your hooks from landing via shields are D.Va and the big man himself, a team with a good comp can roast a Roadhog without letting him get any kills. He has no shields and no armor, so his self-heal becomes a big yellow "free ult charge" sign. His damage falloff is ridiculous, making him completely reliant on his hook, so anyone can play the range game with Roadhog. I play Zenyatta, so I know how bad it can be when you get hooked and one shot as a support, but if that's happening, it's not Roadhog being OP, it's the support being a dumbshit and standing in front of their team, which is a mistake when playing against any team. In summation, Roadhog is OP in the same way Bastion is; they're only OP if you let them be.

His heal COULD need a few additional seconds of cool down. But aside from that, he isn't that dangerous.

Almost every kill was half-health or squishy, people didn't bait the hook, couldn't do shit at range, no decent Zarya, Reinhardt, Winston, or Genji deflecting/blocking the hook. Right. Also, Roadhog is an ult battery. Stay out of range and you can fill your ult in no time at all. Not to mention while healing he can be hit and he's essentially stunned. He can't fire, move, or use abilities for about 2 seconds.

Funny thing about Roadhog: Dealing damage to any hero as any hero gives you a boost to your ult percentage. Dealing damage to shields and other forms of mitigation, less so. And although Roadhog can theoretically stay alive for fucking centuries, every time he takes a vape in a corner, that's an enemy player's 30-50% ult, right there.

The difference is that a low skill cap character can be played well by newer or less skilled players. Overpowered means that the character has positive aspects that far outweigh the negative ones, and makes them more than viable in almost any given situation. For instance, Roadhog is low skill cap since a less skilled player can play him effectively and still help his team, since Roadhog's moves are straightforward, simple to use, and simple to understand. On the other hand, Zarya would be a high skill cap character, since her tools and moves might not be so simple to understand, but she is still powerful in the hands of a player that knows how to use her tools well. Low skill cap characters aren't overpowered, they just allow less skilled players still work as an asset to their team.

Remember how everyone was crying about how overpowered bastion was? And then people got smart and found out you could counter him? There's a lot of counters to road hog. Once his chain is on cooldown, 1 or 2 assault characters can annihilate him in close quarters. His movement speed and size also lend to him being an easy target for anyone

As a person who has never played Overwatch (worst pc ever), I see roadhog one shotting people in videos EVERYWHERE? While at the same time having infinite health potential because of his drink move? How is he not overpowered?

Cause people don't upload videos that show them being destroyed by high DPS character and explosives due having a hitbox the size of a bus any literally every shot always hits if you're not blind, not landing any hooks for half the match cause the other team is using barriers properly, failing to one shot people that know how to use their escape moves (the stun on hook starts when it hits, at any distance it's worn off by the time they're at you so you can use escape moves to avoid the combo), dying when they try to self heal cause it immobilize you for several seconds and they can just shoot your watermelon sized head for monster damage while you're sitting there, etc Roadhog isn't even close to OP you can tell that just by the fact he's quite rare in high level competitive comps, allot like Bastion he's at his best against newbies that don't know how to deal with him.

I'm gonna stop you there his heal restores exactly 300, not "like 400" if you're gonna claim it's OP, at least get your facts straight

That Pillar Men reference was so good it almost fooled me into thinking Mei wasn't a garbage-tier waifu.

The thing about Roadhog is that he is literally a giant target. He is also the best ultimate builder due to how easy it is to hit him on top of him healing himself to only soak up more damage which charges your ult faster.

RoadHog has a hit box the size of Mt Everest And he doesn't have armour or shields. And he's slow as A dead house.

And now roadhog can only gain ult faster. No insta kills. No nothing. Unless what they got in PTR as of this date (Aug. 4 2017) actually comes out in the near future. But I actually love playing him more now anyway. I get my ult instantly.

I may not be an expert, but here's my idea for a test on this matter: Does your team need to constantly be prepared to have someone in case they pick road hog? Basically, if they become the whole meta game, that's a big red flag. Granted, that was meant as an extreme example. It's why Mega salamence was übered: teams boiled down to mega menace, a few counters, and then two slots for what you actually wanted to use.

The one thing that's possibly overpowered about Roadhog is him getting half his health back on an 8-second cooldown. If you miss a hook, your only choices are: 1) Moving towards the enemy team trying to whittle at them with alt-fire, or getting close enough for your shotgun to actually work. And unless your team is moving with you, it's really easy to overextend and fuck yourself because you've got four shots and an incredibly slow reload. 2) Hanging back with your team and doing negative work because you're a cqc character. Oh, you gonna lock down that choke Roadhog? You gonna do that thing that D.Va or Reinhardt could do while providing cover for their team? Good man, hope they don't have a Reaper or a Pharah that's just bouncing your fat ass around with rockets. Want to counter hook? Don't walk and strafe in straight lines. That's a real toughie, huh?
