I ride road different than track. For road riding i have very very late entering the corner, so my apex is near exit of the corner and for most of the time you see what's coming ....
From where I'm sitting, you could go through those corners with NO body position and be just fine. I personally like to just move my head and shoulders. But Im not particularly fast.

No way! The sound of an Aprilia Tuono V4 with an aftermarket pipe kills your inline 4 engine sound! That sound of the V4 with an aftermarket pipe is an beast of an monster! It always turns heads and gets attention!

Body position is important, but on the twisties there's definitely 2 much more important aspects that weren't mentioned here: throttle control (and smoothness on the bike's controls), and trajectory (not crossing the centre line with the head or even with the bike). One can be still really really fast on the twisties with sound riding technique and without butt off the bike or knee out.

Interesting. I’m just a beginner, but I was wondering if you really have to move that far on such tiny corners with quite small lean angle. You can probably save yourself some angle this way but you’re still not leaning it that far to care about delay in acceleration out of a corner. Idk, but leaning of the bike just seems excessive on twisties in most corners

@@konstantinu8808 if you're a beginner, allow me to tell you something i wish someone had told me when a started: KEEP THINGS SIMPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLE ;-) It's mainly about: 1- good throttle control, 2- smoothness, 3- vision. Adjust your speed and go down to an apropriate gear BEFORE the corner, lean the bike in holding the throttle still and just maintain speed throughout the corner to start accelerating only when standing up, and look far away to anticipate your knowledge of where the road goes or anything else relevant and mind peripheral vision to have notion of where you are on the road. Simples! 🙂 But this Marquez riding style is being very well sold because people rather look like a circuit racer than be efficient. If you knew the guys hanging off that i left behind, and just keeping my body aligned with the bike... balance and smoothness! Balance and smoothness! ;-) All the best.

@@konstantinu8808 it is definitely excessive on the video. I can do this road at a faster pace without sticking my knee out or my butt out while staying inside double yellow all the way, only with upper body positioning. He may have done it excessively to showcase what he is talking about.

I'd disagree hard actually. IMO body position is the least important aspect - you should perfect the basics first: line selection, braking, acceleration, countersteering etc. When you can ride fast with your trail braking, good lines, good traction management, then you can use your body position to go faster at the same lean angle. People focus on body position all the time to look cool and then it suddenly turns out theyre hanging off like rossi on a bike leaned over 15 degrees, braking too late and too hard, exiting the corner with half the speed they could have because theyre trying to touch the asphalt with the knee

Well said, I have to agree with you and body position. Body position is a very important, shall we say "phase 2" of learning to ride. Get the fundamentals squared away first - line selection, braking, acceleration, counter steering and the likes, then move on to tackle Body Position to improve your riding skills. Bill us gave us an excellent overview and demonstration of the Body Position technique.

Im not gonna lie when i started riding i was way too focused on body position and i was on a severely underpowered and super lightweight bike so i barely leaned the actual bike over when i hung off... When i went to a small pitbike track the guys who would pass me every 10 seconds told me my body position was amazing but i should focus more on leaning the bike and not myself. I was also constantly overbraking super hard and taking terrible lines...

Guess i missed it. What happend to the ducati that you just put the termi exhaust on? Where did these bmws come from?
First of all amazing video I watched it all the way through, but I have a question. Do you use your rear brake while in the corner if you are going too fast so the bike position itself more in the right way if you know what I mean? Thank you!

I personally don't use the rear brake for riding like this on the streets, on track that's a different story. Bill might though.

That road could be ridden with neutral body position just pointing your chest to the turns. You only should move around like that on tighter stuff

Honestly, getting some training from pros if you can. Braking and vision before anything else, then if you're only on the street, upper body. Really on the streets, lower body isn't needed. But training, improve your vision, learn how to brake better.

Nothing wrong with what you said. But not necessary for this speed. I could easyly follow you without lifting my butt a single time. A Hang Off is proper on the race track. On the twisties it makes you more vulnerable. If you want to improve your riding, work also on your line 😉

Something I used was actually handle bar claps mounted to the passenger foot peg holes (remove passenger foot pegs)

Great educational video. The 360 camera is made for this. You can talk about apexes lines braking but if you don’t know how to properly “ride” the bike first at speed that stuff doesn’t matter yet. Inherently you want to take it to the track but can practice on the street.
lol i really hope new riders and squids-in-training don't watch this as a first video and then go out and attempt to do this.. like all the comments on the video, there are SO many things more important to riding well in the twisties... throttle control, trail braking, learning to judge corner speed, the line you take, STAYING IN YOUR OWN LANE AND NEVER CROSSING THE DOUBLE YELLOWS IN CORNERS.. granted, i am not at all saying that this video doesn't have any nice tips, but this should not be the first thing to work on when learning to ride twisties. Frankly, most riders would benefit very little if none at all from extreme lean angles. This ain't motogp lol. Other than that, i did like the video. has some nice tips. Also, Turtle Rock, nice! 128 is definitely one of my favorites to go riding on.

I love leaning... But! 😆 but in the tight twisties I have a hard time to switch gear with my feet laying on their tips on the peg. How to solve this?

Set your gear when you're upright between turns. Be faster about it or slow down and take the time to do it, it'll be worth it if you're trying to get into the right gear before the next turn. If you chose the right gear, then you'll come out of the next turn faster anyways. It's not a race on the street so you won't lose anything for it 👍

Personally, I don't see your lean angle justifying your body position. Nice video, though. Would love to ride on roads like that once.
It's weird how you know the stick is there, you can see it in the shadow, but it's not in the picture.

The camera software erases the stick from the video. Can’t do the shadow yet.

People worry too much about moving their A**. Move that head and chest first. In addition to that, get comfortable with the breaks and line selection. Outside-inside, look through the curve and accelerate out.
These corners do not need you to move your body postion that much at all, copying what you see on moto go doesnt make you a good street rider
People are worrying way to much on BP. How to ride better in the twisties? learn throttle control and break in to the corner
I think working on your road positioning and placing your bike in a way to open up visibility in the turn and also not crossing the median with your body. Safety first, then work on your body positioning. This is poor road riding technique.

I would agree... I know these roads pretty well so I do end up "trimming" corners which is a very bad habit for a new rider.

@@CaliMotoTV Not just that, but placing the bike more toward the center line in right handers and towards the right side on left hand turns in order to open up the visibility in the turn. Not to mention not going too fast that if a car is stopped in the road, you have enough visibility and time to stop.

Key position is not as important as braking, line selection, trail braking and vision Body position is useless if all of the above is missing Listen, you’re a good rider but you are not an instructor and giving advice to guys on the Internet who are anxious to do what you’re doing and following your instruction could get them in a lot of trouble Learning to do what you are doing, takes proper, step-by-step instruction, and a few things that you have said and are showing in this video is not the proper teaching method or steps that need to be taken in order to accomplish what you’re doing.
