Another trick I have from personal experience, if your bearing is going into a housing or if your crank is going into a fit, put them in a freezer for a few hours, I worked with size on size or 2-3 thou shrink fits and it’s really great. Conversely, heating things up helps in the appropriate places.....great videos tho, I appreciate your clarity... you’re really good at this

Here's a little tip: It's a good idea to put a little bead of weld on the inside part of where the little arm meets the governor cross shaft while you have it out. It's a pretty common failure point for the arm to break off. And as we all know you have to pull the engine out then pull the crank and cam out to fix it. I've found more than one of those arms in oil pans.

I would add to this video a couple of things. Before doing and valve seat work you must make sure the valve guides are in good shape. If they are worn then anything done to the seats will not be accurate. Also you always lap the valves weather they are new and fresh cut seats or not. I would also suggest some assembly lube on the internal engine parts before reinstalling : cam to tappets, cam gear to crank gear. Some people just use motor oil and that works too, but use something and don't reassemble the parts dry. As for the new head bolts. I don't see a reason for them. They are not torque to yield bolts like a modern car engine uses and unless they somehow got severely rusted the factory bolts have worked in rebuilt engines longer than these guys have been alive. Your choice.

Hi There. You install the rings in the 3rd groove, then 2nd, and then top. The third groove is a 3 piece ring. You put the wavy expander in first, and then walk 1 thin rail below it, and 1 thin rail above it. That's groove 3. Groove 2 will be the ring with the outside step. Put that in the second groove so the step part is facing down. Groove 1 will get the ring with the inside bevel. Install that so the bevel is upward. Please email or call us if you have any further questions.

HI. I'm new into this kind of hobby. Qst: why do you hate Kohler engines? From what I see on the internet, these engines seem to be kind of good engines for commercial machines. I got a free Ford LGT165 tractor from someone who bought a new property and it was in the gagage, since neither the guy or his wife didn't know anything in mecanic, they just put it on the internet for free to get some more room in their new garage!!!. So I'm planning on rebuilding the whole tractor, myself and probably installing a front loader (I already bought all the parts for the building in the last year planning to do it). I have a lot of Tools, and I worked in the past with mecanics , and I thought , why not that ford tractor, it seem to be a good proect, and later, probably doing some small jobs with it, and making some money out of my project… Tks.

@@lukebecker1959 I read about problems with the 2 cylinders Kohler engines. Mine is a one cylinder 16hp K341. From what I read, these one cylinder engines are kind of classic and good ones I hope this is true!!!Lol. But for now, I haven't even stated to look at it yet, so it's just sitting in my garage, untill I finally get the time to start working on it this winter. As a hobby, I'm all excited about this proect, l'm like a kid walking in a candy store!!! Lol. I've always wanted to do that kind of projects on my own. Anyway. I'll see…

I do NOT care for chasing the threads on the block before installing the cylinder head with a tap, mainly because there some shitty taps out there and you may remove material where you don't want to. A little oil on the threads would be better.
