Kohler K301 Restoration Part 1 - Disassembly
I had this Kohler K310 for some time, and I never got it running. I tried and then stashed it for a rainy day, that day came, and here is part 1 of the series. I hope you all enjoy this, it is a larger project so it will be split into episodes otherwise the video will be too long.

Thanks buddy👍
Looking forward to part 2!
Wow, I cannot believe how well preserved those gaskets were for their age! It didn’t look like there were and leaks! Most of the much newer engines I work on rarely have gaskets that come off in one piece. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoy watching your channel.

Even the engine itself on the inside is in fairly good shape. Thank you!
I have one of those impact drivers. I swear they save lives.

When the screw started to strip I was like "Why always the last one" and reached for the impact.
Good job 👍👍👍

The engine appears to be in decent condition judging from the internal parts. Nice job marking the pistons position. For reassemble.

It is in decent shape, I was delighted to see that!
Seriously what a feat of engineering back then 😢 but boy was that oil run threw to long glad it didn't spin or damage anything it's in great shape but you can really tell how straight forward this engine was no journals, straight aluminum or divots or dimples in the machining. Really cool to see the changes

They don't make them like this anymore. This engine is a tank.
With a modicum of maintenance, that engine will last until the heat death of the universe! A great engine!
Nice one

Really cool. Kohler made an excellent engine. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the rebuild and restoration. And I gotta say that “dremmel” tool you used to grind the weld was impressive. I want one. 😄 Thank you!

Many thanks!
Great, right in the beginning when you turn the engine little back and forth there was that clock clock sound, my Suffolk did the same, hope to see in your series what causes that
To me, Kohler engines are some of the best small engines out there. They last forever as this one shows. Just wonder how old it is. And why would someone weld that pulley on.

Absolutely, I have worked on a few Kohler and they are great engines.

A really well built, or maybe even over built motor. Looks like if you keep the oil in good shape, i will last another lifetime.

@AJRestoration Perhaps having both a short and long version simultaneously could be an option. I prefer longer versions myself because you catch more of the minutiae, which to me is just as important as the rest. But that's just me. Great videos by the way.
I decide I don’t want to watch something that doesn’t resolve, part 1…
