Its funny that after 5 years I've switched hardtops, soft top, bikini top and ended up grabbing a mint oem jeep soft this year. The quality of the original top is second to none. They are just hard to come by in nice condition these days. Love your instructions. Can use this video for many top swaps. Cheers mate. 🍻

I appreciate the vids man,been watching your Jeep info vids lately. I'm a Stang guy too but the Jeep stuff is new. My wife has been wanting a Jeep since the 90s and we have been really talking about it the last few years. We are really looking now so I find your vids very helpful. We found a really nice one yesterday but it has a rip in the back window. I was amazed that a new soft top only cost 200 bucks yet you see so many for sale with nasty original tops. Hopefully we can make a deal on the one we are liking, dealer was closed yesterday by the time we found it.

@@KyleSVT Just put the new top on. It looks great. The only bump in the road was the fire extinguisher triggered while I was getting the old top off. Messy. Don't recommend that. But. New one's on and it looks great.

Holy COW!!! The wife and I tried to install our new top (black) today, and what a nightmare 😂... Gonna try to finish up tomorrow, but the thing doesn't seem to fit. Checked your video to see just maybe we missed a step, and nope. Round two set for tomorrow...great video brother!

mine was like $400 from quadratec - quadra top seemed thicker material for the canvas tinted windows installed 3 yrs ago 06-x best money ever spent i too live in the heavy snowbelt

When installing the screws for the first step, the top itself has slots that align with the holes, but, the slot is about `1/4" long. How do you know exactly where to drill the hole thru the canvas to line up with the hole in the Jeep frame?

Hey Kyle great videos. I love how detailed they are. I recently installed a new quadratec sailcloth top on my 2002 Wrangler. I noticed in the video it looked like you had a very easy time with the installation, mine seemed a lot tighter and a lot more difficult to put on. Admittedly it wasn’t very warm when I put it on, 60s or 70s in temperature. did you notice the top you put on gets easier to put up and down as time goes on? Maybe after a week or two?

Yea the key is to get the top nice and hot for the install. Makes it much easier. This top was always easy to put up and down.

My header bar is different it clamps down with 2 bolts how do I get a header bar like yours and can I use it on a style soft top the clips into the channel of the current header bar

Question, help appreciated. We have a 1997 Jeep TJ with a soft top but it does NOT have the hardware/frame like shown in this and other videos and doesn't look like it ever had that. The soft top just fits over the rollbar. Can anyone point me to a video that shows how to install a replacement soft top in our situation? Thanks for any and all help!

I have not heard much on that top. I would get a top that is as close to the factory thickness as possible

Kyle, my bow straps have frayed and one is off. Replacing them with OMIX straps from Rugged Ridge. What’s the best way to remove the rivets holding on the existing straps?

I would wait till its warm and sunny. You really want the top pliable for the install to go well

I just got a jeep and i’m planning on taking the soft top off for the summer. Can you drive with the soft stop just folded back the way you had it before unscrewing the header? or would you advise against it?

hey this is an old video so who knows if you will see this, i’ve got an old 97 keep wrangler and the process of putting the first hooks into place to close the top are sooooooo difficult. It was manageable when i had my dad help me but it’s become impossible to put back in. The top is old so i ordered a new one. The issue is when the whole top swings downs, it seems out of line. It doesn’t align correctly so you have to shove it so hard and try to get the hooks in that will barely reach. Maybe a new top will be looser since it is the original. Do you think a new top isn’t the issue tho?

I would check all of the bows and metal parts of the top and make sure they are not bent or snagging on anything

Those wheels and tires you have I know you have to buy the wheel adaptor to install them did you need any lift to get them to clear the jeep?

+Brett Sweitzer they will rub a little on the control arm if you crank the wheel to full lock so just avoid that lol

So this soft top was the replacement soft top thats only 300? I read reviews saying it’s kinda cheap but since you had for awhile I wanna know how it is

It's held up great! It's a little noisy bc its thinner than factory top but quality is great.

plsssss, I have lost the screws that bolt the front part of the soft top to the bow, what size are those? There are 2 types, 2 screws of the same size for the edges and the rest that go across... Thanks for any help... Great video btw :-)

Rear zipper on mine is messed up, so the teeth separated so theres a hole, I cant figure out if I need to replace just the back window or the whole soft top

if the holes are in the top zipper then you probably need a new top. If the holes are in the window zipper just get a new window. I would try cleaning and lubricating the zipper and see if that helps kzread.info/dash/bejne/doxmrruhlbqtebw.html

I purchased a new soft top for my Jeep wrangler through Extreme Terrain. The 4th time I went to put the top back up two zippers broke. I contacted them about the warranty and they said to send them pictures proving it was broken. I did that and they showed it was clearly broken. They would not send me a replacement until they received the broken one back. Then I was told the replacement would ship "as soon as" they see movement with the return. Meaning my vehicle had to be left exposed to and driven in the weather and rain. Once I sent the return I contacted them with the tracking information and was told now it would take two days before the replacement would ship. This is a terrible company.

What’s the clipy part thing called?? I just got a replacement soft top for my ‘98 wrangler but I don’t have that part

It is definitely thinner than the factory one but has held up just fine under pretty rough conditions.

+Kyle Jones basically use one hand to grab and pull down at the back of the jeep top (third bow) and use the other hand to zip the window in. It helps the zipper zip the window in by pulling the teeth of the zipper closer together

KyleSVT update : it’s from the rubber gasket above the windshield. It was worn down incorrectly from the previous soft top . None the less, thanks for the video man . Love watching everything you put up

Hmm I don't know the size but I would check the jeep forums I'm sure someone has asked that before and maybe they can help you :)

So I need a new top and it says I can buy a replacement top without “bow assembly” so that basically just the metal part that hold the top? So I could spend $600 on a replacement top and not have to buy a complete replacement for like $1,000

Nice. Why did you change the top? It was a cheap one? I bought a cheap on amazon. And its a nightmare😢😢😢 extremely too tight and hard. The zipper broke and i past 3 hours trying to repair it... and the material looks like your old one. Hahaha
