Good job. I've just done the same on my S1000R but ended up breaking two of the four plastic expanding rivets, they're horrible. BTW I bought a Limberger part, it wasn't cheap, and the mounting holes weren't perfectly aligned either so I don't think yours was bad at all. I think it's just the shape and size of the combined hugger/chain guard that leads to the slight misalignment.

Luckily, I was able to make it into a flat head and still use mine. From max bmw part # 51 48 3 418 609. It’s diagram #46_2150 ( rear wheel cover)
