Award winning artist Ginger Cook...
is recognized for her exceptional balance of color and light. She intertwines the bold strokes of thick impasto with softly layered translucent washes. The use of natural stucco and the combination of multiple layers of different media present the viewer with a three dimensional work. The Ginger Cook style of painting is both fresh and innovative.
She delights the viewers with her for unique painting style and mastery of color and is held in high esteem by many major manufactures of fine art acrylic paint in the world.
In 1997, she received 4-winning first place awards and the overall Grand Prize win of Liquitex “Paint a Difference Competition", an open call to acrylic artist across the world to submit artwork that represented the best of Acrylic Painting. Liquitex subsequently featured her as a Master Acrylic Artist, with a show of her paintings at the National Academy of Design in New York City.
Utrecht acrylics paid her the complement of a full page ad featuring their paint and her artwork in Artist Magazine the following year.
2007 Chroma Online Acrylic Paint of Australia have asked her to test then newest product and subsequently represent it to various art groups and university students in her Southwest Region of the United States.
She currently demonstrates Matisse Paints for this major Australian Paint company through Jerry’s Artarama stores in the Houston area along her many fans on KZread and her Online Academy of Fine Art and Acrylic Painting located at GingerCookLive.gallery

I finally made it to the end. I've been painting the bridge since this aired and I stop and paint and walk away to let it dry and think about it. I think I'll probably paint a few more versions of this before I'm satisfied. It's a lovely painting.

I hope you have a hair dryer next to your easel and are spot drying as you go too. Have a mirror behind you so you can see what you are painting with new eyes by just turning around.

Thomas Kincaid is my favorite artist! I actually have a print of his "bridge" hanging in my living room. I bought it from someone who was facing some hard times. It is beautifully framed with a brass plate on the frame, depicting the Title and Artist. I do not have any other famous painting in my home, because I would never be able to afford it, but he is my favorite. I scraped together the money to buy my dream painting! Love this lesson!

You have to make yourself a blackberry pie. Let me know if you need a recipe , though you can google it... Very popular in the states because there are lots of wild blackberries that grow like weeds where I grew up in Seattle. and on the east coast too. art hugs from Houston

Hi Ginger! Don't feel bad when you put the wrong color on a label or forget to put on your glasses, etc. I watch your videos while at work and on this one I was thinking how weird it was that your arm was covering most of the shot when I realized that I had scrolled down a bit and was watching half of the screen! I must be an odd ball, lol. I prefer impressionistic paintings over most art of my generation. But then again, I also love the older style music (always have). I really am looking forward to a video regarding unity paints. My daughters wants me to paint her a fantasy painting with a little girl kissing a white unicorn on the bank of a lake in pinks and purples (apparently she thinks I'm a master artist... ha ha!). I'm thinking the dioxazine purple would be the unity color or raw unber. Thanks for your artistic wisdom! Wonderful show as usual. Happy Painting!
@gingercooklive

Yes either of those colors would work as a unity color but raw umber is probably the best.

I mean really how does someone not know about youtube especially if they are in charge of some product they are trying to sell. Even on Amazon you will see youtube product reviews in the comments on all kinds of stuff. Byers beware..... is should be sellers beware cause KZread is like Santas list.... we all know now if a product is good or bad and can see a photo review of it.

Your palette looks better than my painting 😩😩😩
and even funnier than that I painted a picture for my sister, of a national park near her home in Bellevue Iowa. she had posted to me. where she walks her golden lab, Hunter. it was a beautiful autumnal scene . she received the picture and was very happy with it. about six months later we were chatting and she mentioned the picture, I can't remember how we got to the subject but I found out her dog was in the picture . I said, no, Hunter isn't. I didn't see him. So I didn't paint him in. And she had not noticed I had not painted him in and I had not noticed he was supposed to be in there. well I went back to her picture and looked at it closely and eventually found him. I felt pretty gutted that I had missed him out . But she still loved the picture and we both had a big laugh about it. But in all fairness the rest of my family all had trouble spotting Hunter in his camouflaged golden lab coate. lol. I definately need glasses.
Left handed tapping had to hold brush backwards in hand to make taps work. What a brain exercise.

Ginger, as I am watching this, your canvas is tilted so I can't tell how to paint the colors in the water. Horizontal to bottom canvas, or same direction as water flow (towards bottom left corner?
I called Jerry's about the bad 250ml jar, and the rep I spoke to said they're treating them as if they're now "out of stock" and not sending anything in replacement. I had to say over and over that I wouldn't have bought the extra paint if not for the deal (and I checked beforehand that the promo was in stock) before they were willing to send me the 500ml. It was like pulling teeth. I was disappointed because I thought they were handling it well after hearing other stories, but they didn't want to fix mine. Maybe the rep I spoke to was just not made aware yet, but I'm not impressed by this situation at all. :( Anyways, another great lesson! Thank you!

What is best glazing medium to buy?
@gingercooklive

Any major brand; Liquitex or Golden both make good glazing mediums
At the beginning you said that you sprayed the back of the canvas with something to make it tight like a drum. What was it that you used ?

is acrylic medium the same as glazing medium?

No but you can use in a pinch if you don't have any.
The perspective 0f the shadow of the bridge seems off to me. The right side should angle higher.
I have a question/suggestion. Is it possible to get still pictures of finished tutorials? I need to refer to your demo while painting, which is really hard to do with video.
