You struck a cord for me when you mentioned, "if your parents were always pushing you to hang your clothes up...." A light bulb went off over my head!! I need to figure out my kids' styles!! If I could teach them how to clean their rooms in THEIR way, it could reduce so many arguments!!! Thank you!

Oh Cass you made me tear up. I grew up with an uber organized Mom and 2 uber organized sisters. I was told growing up, “Why can’t you keep your room clean? You have too much stuff. Why do you have so much stuff?” I know I have been a butterfly and have started improving on my organization thanks to you for the past year and a half. OMG SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. I had a hysterectomy because I was constantly anemic. Then I was anemic again. Went to a hematology oncologist and he diagnosed me in five minutes. I had a DNA test and he was right...cystic fibrosis! Even though I’m in my forties and my lungs are basically fine. You’re fair complexioned, and anemic. Two big signs for a type of Cystic Fibrosis. There are many genetic variants of it. You might get checked!

I couldn't understand why he wouldn't get rid of very much and he didn't understand why I was trying to get of a lot. You have perfectly articulated that I crave simplicity and he craves abundance. It's something I never considered. I am really excited about this new series your doing and hopefully I can find a medium for my husband and I. Thank you!

TRUTH! This is the story of my life. From how I learn to how I keep my home. I learned the hard way after years of beating myself up, that I am not like everyone else, I am like me. Instead of trying to fit a mold, i see that I don't fit the mold and don't need to. finally, I love me just as I am, quirks and all and life is so much easier and more enjoyable. There is nothing that replaces unconditional self acceptance, nothing! Thanks, Cas for the reminder!

Thank you for this!! I nearly cried watching this video because I realized that not only am I a butterfly (with some bee tendencies, but ultimately too lazy to be a bee), but the rest of my family are all butterflies too. I've been watching and reading all this organizing stuff meant for other types of people, and shaming myself for not being able to fit in with them, and getting frustrated with my family for not keeping up systems that even I am struggling with. No more of that. I'm so excited to see what suggestions you have for butterflies!

Hi Dearest Cas, first of all, I want to say that You are amazing. Your way of communicating is so much like me, crazy life stories and all. Second, you are the one person who has helped me to actually succeed at organization for the first time, ever. I cannot tell you how many books I bought, or systems I printed out, or articles I saved, not that I could find them later, since they were buried somewhere, lol. But it really is the way you clearly explain, and truly understand the struggle of a disorganized person, who really feels like a fish, and has basically resigned herself to maybe never getting on top of all the clutter. For this, I am so thankful to you. My sister is a unicorn. And I'm sure I drove her crazy when we shared a room together as teenagers. And my younger daughter is exactly like me. Clothes all over the floor. I cannot fully express how incredible it feels to actually have things put in order. And how much easier it is to do dishes, because it's a task that needs almost no mental tasking, since purging paper and sorting through files is a much harder task, I no longer put off doing dishes. This way of living has opened up so much for me. I am finally seeing a new way to live, no longer weighed down by massive piles of unknown stuff. The fear of piles is now a thing of the past. When you talked about how it took so long to vacuum because there was so much crap to move out of the way, that was a serious "aha" moment for me. It was like you spoke out loud what one of the hardest parts of trying to clean was. And I bought your book, Cluttered Mess to Organized Success. I was anxious buying it, but I realized it was because I'd literally failed at every other system I'd tried. But I kept watching your videos, repeatedly, (not like a stalker, but as a desperate attempt to get the information you were giving all of us, out in KZread Land) in the hopes that it would sink in, and become part of new neural pathways for me. In just over 3 weeks, I've donated numerous bags to goodwill, cleaned out both filing cabinets, am doing the dishes regularly, emptied several bins of stuff I didn't know I had, and didn't use, including clothes I haven't been able to wear in years, and my clothes are all put away! Not on the floor, or strewn across a dresser, but actually put away! Your videos have been a godsend for me. You, my awesome friend, are a Rockstar in my opinion. Thank you for sharing so much of your wisdom and your crazy stories. I feel like I'm not the only one with crazy life stories anymore. And now I know that I can actually do this adulting thing. Thank you so much.

Every time I watch one of your videos on the 4 types of Clutterbugs, I learn something new! Some new little piece of the puzzle that helps me figure myself out. I have ADHD and Hashimoto’s and some other stuff that means I don’t have a lot of physical energy combined with needing strategies for not going crazy pants all the time when I try to get stuff done. Discovering I’m a Bee has changed my life! The more organized I can be inside my closets and cupboards, the easier to becomes for me to be tidier. What’s normally about a 5 step mental process when I see something out of place, try to figure out what to do about it and then where it belongs, has become a quick split-second two-step process, because that thing has a very specific home and I know I can just put it there. Click-click. Done. And it’s at least as easy to do that as put it off then deal with a bigger pile or mess later. Wow! Who knew?! 😊

  • @CouponStar

Well clearly my 11 year old is a butterfly. I’ll try to have more patience and stop making her feel like her “mess” isn’t ok. Instead I’ll try and help her find the solutions that she can work with. Because omg her shelf displays all her EOS and allll her books and trinkets etc.. and ME?? I’d have them in buckets in the closet. And she just doesn’t get it. I come in and get mad that her room is still a mess and she looks genuinely offended and confused. Like I’m being rude after she “organized” her stuff for so long. So thanks for this. :)

I was not one to really go to the doctor much. I've been fairly healthy but recently had two strange symptoms and opted to go to the clinic. I was scheduled for blood work and an ultra sound two weeks later. My symptoms had gone away (and not come back) and even at the ultrasound they kept asking why I was even there. I felt so dumb and like I was wasting my own time - and theirs. I even waited a week to get my results because I assumed it was nothing. I really felt fine physically. I left that appointment with medication, a referral to a specialist, more blood work, an impending surgery and a cat scan appointment that has now turned to an MRI. Point being - you are absolutely right and we cannot ignore symptoms. The doctor kept telling me that what I was feeling was not normal (alike being tired all the time). You've really gone through so much and I commend you for using your platform to share that encouragement with your audience - likely women - who tend to put themselves on the back burner and leave our health behind to take care or everyone else. Also - literally going to retake the bug test. This series is going to be amazing!

You are pure genius! Now I can tell my husband that it's not that he is naturally messy, he's a butterfly. Himb, fancy! I am still looking for advise on co-habitating. I am a cricket and he's a butterfly. I am ok with the macro organization, it is the visual aspect of everything that I struggle with! Visual clutter is crippling to me!!! But I LOVE watching your videos and am hoping this wisdom is shared somewhere in the wealth of awesome videos you have put out. ❤️

Oh I'm so excited to see these new videos! I'm finally, I mean finally cleaning n purging my apt. Actually, just started n feel "WHY HAVEN'T I DONE THIS SOONER?". My issue is I start on thing and get overwhelmed, tired, & n just not in the mood. However, 4 months ago I lost my job & finding myself unhappy in this terribly cluttered apt with more papers from work (I taught preschool Autistic children). I've been watching your videos and get motivated, but there are times I just don't want to do it. Oh forgot to mention I was diagnosed with Fybromyalgia, sleep apena, and I am overweight!

Cas, thank you. I am finally getting why my husband whose books are organized / alphabetized like a library has a perpetual mess on his nightstand and yelled at me when I tried to clear all of his "stuff" off the bathroom counter. And why I get anxious about putting anything I really like into a box or bin lest I forget it.

Thank you for this video. The WHOLE video. It hit exactly where I am right now. I am a butterfly all the way. I have a horrible time staying “organized”. I do better with broad categories like “warranties”, “boys”, “taxes”, etc. I prefer bins or boxes to chunk like things in. I am looking forward to your organizing series. I have fibromyalgia. I waited over 6 months before I went to the doctor. That diagnosis was such a relief. It wasn’t in my head. I hurt all over, was exhausted, couldn’t think straight, etc. It is all real! Fibromyalgia often masks other chronic illnesses so I have to remind myself not to just right it off. I have to go to the doctor to be sure of the cause. I dislocated my shoulder right before (Two days) thanksgiving. I had to have surgery to repair it. I just feel bad. I feel like a fish in an aviary. It will get better. It takes time and physical therapy in my case. Your videos always make my day. I can really relate to you. Hang in there.

I too, was diagnosed with Hashimoto's 22 yeats ago. Had 2 tumors by my vocal cords. Luckily I can speak through my mouth and not by my neck. Diagnosed with "C: and had radiaton treatments then the following year had to have radiation again. That was 22 years ago. Two years ago had the hysterectomy and was with the "C" Again and had 25 radiation treatments. Knock on wood. So see your Endocrinologist snd Oncologist faithfully. Now my oldest was diagnosed with Hashimoto's...M♡M of 5

I found a functional medicine doc who has worked at getting to the root cause of my Hashimoto's and also decreasing my antibodies. Eliminating gluten, dairy, soy, sugar, fluoride, and managing stress along with proper supplementation have helped me immensely. Izabella Wentz, who was also diagnosed with Hashimoto's has written a couple books out on it. It's not just about testing TSH and popping a thyroid pill every morning like most docs have you do. Get a complete thyroid panel done. Improper care and treatment can lead to thyroid destruction and cause more issues. Just spreading the info so others who are suffering can look into alternatives and find relief. Unfortunately, Hashimoto's is far too common these days and can lead to infertility and the misdiagnosis of various mental health issues...scary! You're not going crazy! Advocate for yourself because you won't get proper care and treatment if you don't. Hugs to everyone out there dealing with this and other autoimmune disorders!

I am definitely a butterfly...a very lazy butterfly. My mom is a very detail oriented cleaner and decorator. She visited me for a week, and cleaned and organized my apartment. I'm going to be honest, I like the "lived in" look. It's comfortable for me. I felt so...depressed? when she left because I felt like I was living in someone else's home. I am very excited to learn some tips and tricks that might help me and my busy schedule.

I'm looking around at my apartment when you first mentioned there are two types of people I thought "Neither one of them is me!" (worst time of year to have chaos and disorder EVERYWHERE - looks like the big box craft supply and the big box sewing supplies camps went to war and I lost!- my tendency to ostrich comes into play). No one but my boyfriend has crossed the threshold of my apartment in over a year and my efforts are all one step forward two back. Can't wait to see the new series... Your second book is pre-ordered. You give people like me hope - I think I'm a butterfly. :(

This Butterfly is very excited about this series! I just discovered you a few days ago, ordered your book on Amazon, and am already almost done reading it. As soon as I finish it this afternoon I'm going to start purging, and I can't wait!! I am so tired of having stuff everywhere all the time! I read that "magic" book about 6 months ago, and really enjoyed it, but haven't ever done much because the projects felt so big and overwhelming. In my heart I wanted to do it, but always felt so overwhelmed. But 15 minutes a day? I can so do that!! I grew up in a Dragonfly household (seriously, they do exist), and since I have gotten out on my own, I have felt like an absolute and complete failure in the household compartment. But maybe I'm not a failure after all? Maybe I'm just a fish trying to climb a tree. Good luck with your health struggles! I really hope you get what you need to start feeling better!!

🤗 Cas, I am so greatful you are doing this video series in particular. I am even happier for the breakdown and suggested solutions, as well. I am looking forward to watching and learning. You are a great help to me. On a personal note, I know an Iron Defiancy type of Anemia can become a very severe issue if not treated properly. I know first hand how you feel. *** My Story- In 2010, I had Fibroids (Myomas) for the second time in my life. I passed out in a store in mid-conversation with someone. I woke up to people helping me to my feet. I went to the hospital and was immediately admitted. I was given two blood transfusions. One of my Fibroids was Submucosal (in the center of my Uterus) and it caused me to lose too much blood and was extremely painful, and my Hemoglobin Level dropped down to 4.0, ... The doctor said to me, "If you had waited three more days you could have gone into a comma or died". (Hemoglobin levels for an adult should be 12.o or higher, best range 25.o- 30.o). The transfusion brought my level up to 7.5 so a few months before my surgery, they sent me for a Venofer (iron by intravenous) they gave me a 3 months dose at 1 treatment which takes 2 1/2 hrs to administer. (instead of a 1 month dosage treatment every month for a 3 month period.) [ I was not informed of that option at the time]. It was too much for my body at once, so 3 days later I developed Hives, which I have had ever since. I take meds daily for the Hives and have to carry an Epi Pen in case of an emergency). The silver lining is that those bad fibroids were permanently removed, I was on iron liquid form, then pills for a while, but now I am substituting iron rich foods daily and cooking with a cast iron pan. This has helped tremendously and my primary doctor monitors my iron levels regularly. I am good now with normal levels. Sometimes the little things can help alot and we may not realize it. As women we need to ask a lot of questions to our doctors and do our own research, then go back to ask your doctor again about what you reasearhed, as well. Ask more than one docotor also tge same question you may get a different answer. Doctors don't tell you everything. You will get more answers and tidbits of helpful info this way. I hope this is helpful to someone.
