Don't just throw away those chicken bones! Place them into a crock pot with some water, dry bay leaves, peppercorns, salt & a cut up onion - cook for about 4 hrs on high or on low overnight -- makes the best chicken stock for soups or gravy!

  • @animerlon

Throwing away bones is such a waste. I get a rotisserie chicken 2-3 times a month & save all the bones, then boil them up every 2-3 months. Once the stock is done, to save freezer space, after removing the solids, i boil it down so it's very concentrated & then freeze it in ice cube trays. When frozen, i transfer to a ziplock.

I do that with the fitted sheet, but to make it easier to place the top sheet evenly across the bed, I fold the top two corners inside out so the center fold can be placed down the center of the mattress. No more moving around to get it centered.

I’ve folded my fitted sheets this way for decades. Then I broke my shoulder & had to get a replacement. I could still fold my fitted sheets, though it was a challenge. Then we changed from a queen size bed to a king size. I’m 5’1”. Between my height, shoulder & king size sheets, I gave up! 😂 Now I just take the sheets off, wash them, & put them back on. No folding required! 😂😂😂

Distilled white vinegar works wonders for urine smells. Depending on if it's a sofa vs something that can go in washer might have varying results. For our dog or kid stuff I'll do a wash with vinegar, pretreat with vinegar if really bad. If that doesn't cut it then I wash again with a heaping scoop of just baking soda in washer, pre soak cycle.

Here's an additional hack when removing sticky labels with hot air. Once you have the label off, pat the sticky side against the adhesive residue, if any, on the bottle, several times. It will pick up quite a bit more of the adhesive remaining on the bottle, and make further removal just a little easier.

I bought a butternut squash maybe ten years ago and thought it would be my last after it seemed so hard to cut safely. It seemed like I was trying to cut a LOG! I saw a guy on TikTok or Instagram (neither of which I'm on -- someone posted his video to KZread or their website) about a year ago, and he couldn't believe it took him until he was 30 (or was it 40?) to learn the rolling motion while cutting the butternut squash. He demonstrated it on the video. Game changer! I no longer avoid buying butternut squash now that I know that trick. Made homemade butternut squash soup with the first one I bought after knowing I could cut it easily.

The jeans back may work if you're slim or built more straight up & down hip to waist and have longer legs, but most women's jeans haven't fit my curves since I was 13, and I'm short enough that women's "short" lengths are too long for me. They just don't make men's jeans in the dimension combos to fit my body

When I worked in a nursing home patients are usually given a shower on certain days. Obviously if you are trying to get them up and ready for the day you need to clean them up first. We kept a few cans of shaving cream on the supply cart and used it in place of soap to get your patients bottoms clean. Just be careful not to get crazy with it or you’ll be forever getting it cleaned up. If you are taking care of a loved one at home I hope this tip helps. Also with the parchment paper you can try rolling it in the opposite direction when you pull it off the roll.

Most of these hacks I’ve done for years… I’m surprised that people don’t know how to fold a fitted sheet, I’ve been folding them just like this for as long as I can remember… but it does not take nearly as long or as complicated as it seemed in the video. It’s really pretty quick especially when you do it a couple times. Also instead of bundling sets together with the flat sheet wrapped around I just stick the bundle inside one of the pillow cases from the set and wrap the excess around to close it up, but I do like the flat sheet idea also!

Another washing hack - hang ur pants upside down by the legs. If you put the pegs across one side of the leg hem you won't get awful peg marks BUT hanging them upside down means the thickest part - the waistband & pockets) are the part flapping in the wind so they dry much quicker. Also, if you have pants that are quite thick material (like my husband's work pants) & the pockets take ages to dry or are always a bit damp, hang the pants inside out as well

That's how I fold my fitted sheets, BUT when you hang them on the line to dry hang them like a U shape, so one edge on one line then other edge on the next part of the line (the 2 outer lines of ur typical 4 sided square clotheslines as they're obv the longest, plus being hung over the 2 lines makes them dry quicker). Peg ur sheet corners at each end, then when you get ur washing in you can fold the corners into each other as you take it off the line & it stops ur sheets getting all creased - so beautiful & smooth when you put new sheets on ur bed!! A trampoline is fab for folding the sheets as you go, esp if u have pets & don't wanna fold ur sheets on the floor. Also, I fold my matching duvet cover & pillowcases with the cases inside the folds of the duvet. When you've folded it & are about to do the last 2 or 3 folds, put ur folded matching cases inside it before/as you fold the cover - you never lose ur matching cases!

I loved, loved, loved seeing you fold your sheets like I do! Once you master the fitted sheet folding it takes no longer to fold your linens than if you struggle doing it all the time, it minimizes wrinkles and folding the fitted sheet and pillow cases in the flat sheet makes it easy to make a bed because every item for that size bed is contained in one bundle. I know many people have no desire or care to properly fold sheets this way and stack them neatly like you did, but it’s not just about an aesthetic look it’s about not have a jungle in your linen closet to dig through or fall on you as you look for the right items to make a bed- I also know folks who only keep 1 set of sheets for each bed so they don’t have to fold the sheets after laundering- each to their own I guess! Thanks for the tips.

Fantastic hacks of which some I have never done! The only one I did know how to do for decades was how to fold a sheet. Thanks for sharing.

You can also handle parchment paper easily by wadding it into a ball, unwadding it, then placing it where you want it, no water necessary. I love the cereal box hack!

I usually roll my towels but I love the little added spa part. For my sheets I also put them together, the only thing is I don't fold my pillowcases. I just put them in half lengthwise and lay them down on the fitted sheet, it just seems to have a few fewer creases, but I enjoyed your video. Nice job.

Definitely using the parchment paper, rotisserie chicken, jeans & cookbook hacks. My military daughter in law tried to show me how to fold sheets like that but I was like thanks but I’ll just fold up my sheets as neatly as I can & put them inside the coordinating pillow case😂.

I turn one pillow case inside out and that's the one i fill. If it falls on the floor you don't have to wash it. Just brush off and turn it right side out and you use the clean side
