Thanks and thanks to some of the commenters here. Today tailgate broke down. The hinge top left was the originator, got some broken wires... again... pretty bad design there. But then stuff would not work anymore and tail gate warning light was always on as you explained. Turned out I had to reset the control unit. Did it the lazy way by simply removing battery for 10 mins. Worked like a charm!

No need to disconnect the battery, removing and re-inserting the 10 amp fuse in the bottom row (no 21 I think) also resets the mechanism. It worked for me the first time it happened. The second time, a few months later, resetting wouldn’t work. I stripped the whole trim, all the electric tape, went through all the wires cm by cm. found a broken wire in the bunch right near the left hinge. Put the effin thing together using a piece of wire from an old plug, and it works! According to many people on all different fora, this fault - and other simple things like dirty connection - would give you the CPU error if plugged into the diagnostic, and most workshops - including Honda dealers - would charge you well over £500 to replace the unit. The job cost me nothing, took just over 2 hours, and all I know about car electrics, is that if a wire is broken, than it probably won’t conduct electricity. Good luck peeps!

Did yours beep as if it will open then not open? Mine does that but then nothing happens

@@X.Cobyyy using key fob - yes, but only once, then the warning light on the dash lights up, and nothing happens, doesn't beep or try to open any more when you press the button again. If yours beeps every time, and the boot lid moves a tiny bit and then closes again, it's a problem with the motor that lifts the lid, the telescopic struts (most likely, or the bushings where the struts are connected to the hinges), or alignment of the boot lid - a different problem altogether. I was talking about boot lid not opening when pulling the handle on the lid (it also won't open pressing the key on the fob, which makes it even more confusing). If yours opens when you pull the handle, but just beeps and does nothing when pressing the button on the key, try taking the plastic covers off the hinges, you'll see where the struts are connected to the hinges. You can try to disassemble the connections, give the bushings a good clean and put some fresh grease on, or just spray some lube on them and see if that makes any difference - 5 minute job.

I just disconnect the battery for 5 mins i think it allowed the solenoid to reset anyway it worked!

I did that and the boot worked 1 time and then not anymore, does that every time i disconnect the batter

I had the tail gate light on

update yes it's CPU error you need to disconnect the battery for 5-10 mins to reset the CPU this should work🚗

Quick fix is to remove negative terminal on battery and reconnect but open and close tail gate manually
